Zulus night vision scopes

I'm looking into a night vision scope to extend my shooting time into the winter. My first use for it will be pest control. I have a few family members campers stored on my land and the mice from the hay field are making their way into them. Being able to store different aim points should allow me to switch to a larger caliber gun for coyote without much trouble. My question is do I stick with night vision or spend a little more coin and get the dual night vision/thermal? I can see the advantage of using the thermal to spot my prey easier at night, would it be of any benefit during the day? This my first time dipping my toes into night scopes so I have alot to learn.

There is a hedgerow and then about a 40 acre hay field. I'm not sure how well the thermal would pickup mice in a hay field, but I think it would be useful for coyotes. I also heat with wood so I have many wood piles and a burn pile I could scan. I think my real question is would there be any disadvantages besides cost to getting the dual scope. I've been given the blessing from the wife for a new scope but she won't be happy if I decide in a couple months that I want something different already.

Ive been pondering the same. For me a night vision scope is borderline out of the realm due to cost. But if i splurge for it id rather go all in and get thermal. Buy once and cry once. I dont think my wife would go for a second high dollar optic. I would hate to just get the night vision and every time i use it think to myself and not be happy cause i cheaped out.

@Tincan - you will see mice in a haystack when they are close to the edges, but not if they are buried a few feet in. I use my ThermNight for squirrels during the day as the thermal spots them and then I switch to IR for the shot.

For you and @imtrigerhapy I will say that the multi spectral is the way to go as you don’t need a thermal monocular to locate anymore.

I like the ThermNight so much I’m kicking for the PARD Landsat! Just don’t tell my wife!🤫

A decent thermal is the way to go for mice. With NV you'll be primarily looking for eye shine in the IR light. Contrast that with a decent thermal you will have no problem picking them out in the field or wood piles.
It is much easier to track them as they scamper erratically about with thermal.

You will be much more successful with a thermal and less frustrated.

I appreciate the replies. It confirms my thought process so far. I was trying to be frugal but if I end up buying something else later it will cost me more than getting what I desire now. I've been shooting something since I was in kindergarten but these pcp's have really gotten me hooked in shooting on a regular basis. Nothing like having some land, an air supply, and some pellets to unwind at the end of the day or a friendly competition on the weekends.

the DNT Zulus non/LRF does wonders for me pesting at night on farm critters, and rats play a major role in my feed storage barns. thermal is nice, but you really dont need it if you can get within 30yrds.
my rats get big here...... :sneaky:
I had a rat come out of my burn pile a month ago I think I could've saddled!

I'm planning on using it on multiple platforms one being coyote. Hopefully the thermal and pip would be a benefit. You're supposed to be talking me into the thermal not out of it! 😁 I appreciate the input. My next problem will be when my son wants one on his. $$$
