So last week I tried shooting the 30yd Challenge with my scoped HW35E. I did pretty good on my second attempt. I shot a 175 3X. Not to shabby I thought for a new springer shooter.

I didn't submit the target for scoring because I had a misfire in between targets 1 and2. (duh, keep your dang finger off the trigger until your ready to shoot and adjust the pull, it's to bloody light).

Today I was shooting my HW77 with Iron Sights and was doing pretty good at 25yds. I made up my own challenge target and gave it a try. 12 targets, 1" outer ring, 1/2" inner ring and 1/4" diamond bull. 1 point for outer, 2 for inner ring and 3 for diamond. You throw out the worst two targets and have a maximum of 30 points. Not my best shooting of the day, but this is hard to see at 25 yards with my poor eyes!

I thought I'd call it the Zut Iron Sights Challenge.

Rules made up as we go:
25 yards
Front Rest Only
Iron sights, open, peep, diopter, etc. No scopes
.22 or .177 Score with .22 caliber pellet or plug

I have attached two .pdf of the targets, one dark and one light so if you're interested fire away. Thanks to Fixedflinger for the new targets!!

Print on 8.5 x 11 paper.

I don't mean to step on your toes but I've been having trouble with the file printing at full size and it's taking a lot of ink on the background. So I went ahead and made a pattern that seems to print out at the exact sizes and it's a little easier on my printer.

Here’s my second attempt. The first attempt didn’t go so well, I could not see those unmodified targets. I’m 65 years old I’m not complaining, my eyes are still good enough to shoot Ironsights. For this attempt I blacked out the targets on a sacrificial target sheet, then pinned it directly over the top of my target sheet. this gave me a 1 inch black dot to aim at. I did plug my 177 caliber holes with a 22 slug to score the close ones. This is how they do it on the 30 yard challenge we should put that in the rules whether that’s allowed or not

Awesome shooting UncleB, I was just shooting a few myself. I was thinking of some lighting myself, but I just squinted thru it. LOL

Two targets with a 14 points each. I think the .22 pellet is appropriate to use for scores. I also think we should use the diamond as a tie breaker so if you hit 3 diamonds your score would be something like 20 3D. What do you guys think?

That looks like an interesting challenge too. Very nice shooting Mo!

This one works good and easy to lay a bead on to 25/30y. Also easy to find online to get and print if interested .

I just find ones i like and then edit them as i need to like in a paint program/ app

I like that one too. I think we need to keep the dimensions of 1" outer ring, 1/2" inner ring then 1/4" diamond. Although I am not sure the diamond is the way to go. If you could put a white ring at 1/2" that might be a really good target.
