A quick session at dusk at 235 yards with the 177 red wolf

It was very calm Thursday night. With lots of mosquitoes. Rather than put on bug spray, I purposely shot with the mosquitoes swarming all over my face like a beard. So I would shoot quickly, and then throw my hands up and wipe the mosquitoes off my face. Sounds stupid right? I believe it improves my concentration at match time. If you can still make that fifth shot with a mosquito biting on your eyelid, you can certainly shoot through heckle and Jekyll at the national match. Or the guy with the really loud cleats, walking by while you shoot.

I shot seven groups. Here are the best three. Two of these could’ve been amazingly small with a little bit of luck. However, I love the way the impacts snuggle together. The shape of the groups, speak to me of the accuracy of the rifle.

These were shot off a card table, with a beanbag front rest. 177 red wolf, with 15 grain Nielsen slugs. I’m going to be ordering some 20s this week.

Here are the best three groups. The other four were bigger. And not worth posting.

It’s an awful lot of fun watching those little tiny groups appear on the target. The pause between pulling the trigger and the impact is quite significant.

Also, it’s amazing to me that two of the three groups we’re right on target, And the third was just a bit high. Which I then compensated for on subsequent groups.
