Alpha 6 owners check in!

It looks like this thread is primarily about the Alpha6 4.5-27. Can I ask if some have tried the Alpha6 1-6x24?

If so, what do you think--esp for its use on an air rifle?

I really like the reticle.

Thanks buddy! I'm getting one of these now!

Well, the seller would not accept a lower offer, so I paid the $110. Now I'm saving up for the battery. 😁

Questions for you Alpha 6 owners: Do any of you use it to compete in hunter division field target matches? I see where some of you are using a large 3d scope wheel that is often used by field target shooters.

Even if you are not using it for field target, you might be able to still answer if it is suitable or not if you know these attributes about hunter field target scopes (apologies if you are already familiar with FT):

In hunter FT we do not know the actual range of the targets, and use the scope’s focus wheel to range the target so we know the holdovers we must use to hit the killzone. In setting up our scope beforehand we go out and verify the range markings on our scope wheel by testing with known distances, and marking actuals on our scope wheels.

In hunter FT, 16x power is the maximum we are allowed to use, even though the scope may have a higher capability. Many scopes at 16x range pretty well out to about 40 yards, but it is the 40-55 yard range where they become a little meh. Some scopes are a little better than others, but I have not heard anybody finding the holy grail yet.

So one important scope ranging attribute is how quick and consistent it “pops” into focus when ranging. For instance if I am ranging a target at 40 yards, and its focus looks the same at 40 yards as it does a 45 yards, then I might use the wrong holdover and miss the killzone.

I would appreciate your feedback.
