Barrel bands do work .

Hey guys....Just recently I bought a AEA Element In .22 over all a nice rifle but for one thing barrel flex , every time I picked it up to shoot the POI would change I noticed how much the barrel would move by just touching It , one example I put the fx croney on the end of the barrel my shots were impacting 3" to the left of what I shot previously . Anyway long story short , somebody on this forum ( I forgot his name ) put me In touch with Elis5173 who so happens to have a cnc machine so I asked him If he would make me a barrel band for my Element I sent him a diagram of what I had In mind and the specs , a few days later he sent me a couple of barrel bands that work perfectly and look like they might have come from the factory . Needless to say the barrel Is now rock solid the gun now shoots straight and Im happy .

First pic was with OUT the barrel band , shooting at 60yards using JSB .22 twelve shots no wind , the second WITH the barrel band big difference huh . 👍

You know it is odd that the vendor's don't figure these little things out but I suppose they also need to maximize profit to stay in business.

Well done. Now monitor the location of that group as the pressure in your cylinder changes. Sometimes that will affect POI with barrel bands. So for example it might shoot high at the high end of the fill and low at the low end, or left and right. You get the idea. If that happens you might find loosening the bands up a bit and putting an "O" ring or a flat rubber piece between the barrel bands and the tube will help.

Floppy barrels just suck it's hard to put it any other way. There is no reason for them either as when one has a shroud, most guns do these days, the barrel can be put under tension quite easily. Else some of them need barrel bands to do their best as you have plainly shown.

Nothing wrong with free floating barrels if they are heavy and stable enough to stay on target. Other wise they need to be stabilized in some way if they are floppy and don't shoot consistently.
