Compressor survey results

Hi folks,

As of 12/14/2020 there are now 370 responses from compressor owners. Thanks to EVERYONE who has shared their experiences!

These links below to the reports should automatically update as more compressor reports come in. I suggest everyone check out the first link below to the compressor list and hours. I felt this report would be helpful to show the sampling for any type of compressor.

Please note: I don't intend to show any overall "winner" or "loser" so there is not any ranking. You will see the compressor list and hours is alphabetical.

I will do my best to answer any questions. You can respond here with questions or email me at [email protected].

Enjoy!

Hi Steve Et Al.,

I'm curious, what other facets of this survey and its results (data) are people interested in seeing?

I'll say that I'm pleased with the results so far! Personally, it provided me with enough data - not just misc. anecdotes - to make me comfortable (i.e. feeling more informed) to go ahead and purchase my 1st compressor which was a used Shoebox F10.

Hi @airgunner343,

There wasn't any reason in particular that compressor was omitted. It just wasn't mentioned in the 1st stage of this survey when I was compiling my list. I have added it :)

Oh, I should also add that I manually manage the list of links above to the individual compressor reports. If anyone is looking for a compressor that was listed in survey itself but does not have a link report, just shoot me an email ([email protected]) and I'll look it up.

There are a few compressors that simply have not received any data yet, so I have been holding off posting those report links.

Hi folks,

I have now received 200 responses from compressor owners!

So let's look at the fun stuff!

Single most popular compressor model = Air Venturi with 22 reports

- runner up was Yong Heng 110v Non-auto shutoff with 19 reports

Most popular brand when models are combined = Yong Heng with 49 reports

- runner up was shoebox with 31 reports

Most hours reported on a compressor = 1000 hours on an “early model Shoebox”

- runner up was shoebox max with 350 hours on the shoebox max

Highest average hours reported on a compressor = 250 hours on a SPA

- runner up was shoebox early model with 223 average hours

Overall 75% of owners reported no “breakdowns or failures” of their compressors

Highest breakdown or failure rate for any compressor (with more than one submission) was 87.5% with 7 out of 8 reports from Vevor owners

- runner up was a breakdown or failure rate of 75% with 3 out of 4 Omega Supercharger (red) owners reporting problems

Of the compressors with no reported breakdowns or failures, the AirTex 45 was the most common with 9 owners reporting no problems

- runner up was the Shoebox F10 with 8 owners reporting no problems

@remnar, great catch. I have added the link to the Bauer JR2 compressor. Sorry about that! If anyone sees anything missing please email me at [email protected]. My notifications here don't work for some reason :-/

@saltlake58, yes, I share the same thoughts... i was expecting to see a higher failure rate as well. But then again, I was basing this solely on anecdotal reports. Hence the collection of this data :)

I'm probably misunderstanding but maybe you can clarify. Your Omega section lists an original, a "grey" air charger and a "red" supercharger. Does the "red" refer to the Turbocharger or is that compressor not included in the results or is it grouped in with the supercharger heading?

Howdy, I never received a request to add an Omega "turbocharger" model. I have to admit that I'm not terribly familiar with the Omega line, so I can't say if there is any crossover between the model names. Sorry that I can't be more helpful here :-(
