Tuning Hatsan Flash .22 Modifications and Upgrades (Heavily Modified)

Hi,

I bought the Hatsan Flash .22 about a year ago. The model is the synthetic stock model and with the QE system on it. It has been a great PCP to have and I have had a lot of fun with it. While having it I have had in mind to modify it and make upgrades to the gun. My idea would be to build heavily upgraded Hatsan Flash now and I already have a few things in mind. The goal would be to have a consistently shooting sub MOA gun built that can shoot the FX hybrids around 950fps and shoot pellets accurately around 900fps. I would like the gun to be able to shoot up to 200 Yards, but I think it is a daydream with this base. I would be happy to achieve consistant accuracy of around sub MOA in 100 yard range too.

I know this might be nearly impossible to do on a sub 300$ base. It is always have been my interest to make everything better with some small upgrades and I love tinkering with stuff. Lets see how this project starts to go forward. I have already put some parts and ideas together and talked with more experienced airgunenrs here on the forum. I am having a "cheaper" and more "expensive" build in mind.

Cheaper build:
- Huma-Air regulator with XXL plenum
- Hatsan NovaStar barrel upgrade
- Hammer spring upgrade to NovaStar spring
- Air Valve seat upgrade to ported PEEK valve seat
- Transfer port opened to 180 thou all the way from barrel to air cylinder valve opening
- Cleaning the action and cleaning the barrel

Expensive build:
- L&W 30" poly barrel upgrade
- BT65 255cc air cylinder upgrade
- Huma-Air regulator with XXL plenum
- Hammer spring update to NovaStar spring
- Air Valve pin seat upgrade to ported PEEK valve
- Transfer port opened to 180 thou all the way from barrel to air cylinder valve opening
- Cleaning the action and cleaning the barrel
- FX no limit scope rings
- Bushnell Match Pro scope 6-24x50FFP

The setup I have in the beginning is:
- The Hatsan Flash of course
- Hawke Vantage 4-12x40
- UTG Leapers high rings
- DonnyFL Tatsu moderator
- UTG Leapers cheapo bipod

During this COVID-19 times it seems I have had too much of free time and I decided to start a YouTube channel just for the @$%^ and giggles. You can follow me on YouTube under the name as here Montana_AirGunner. I have a few videos there where I am going throught the mods I have been doing to the gun already :)

Finally I had time to go and get some testing done with some pellets slugs. Pretty amazing results just as its on. I do feel that the 165BAr was too high and you will just get a dimished shot count with that high of a pressure. I tested it with 155BAR in the past and got somilar speeds but better shot count. I feel that I have to start to modify the pellet probe to get the last bit out of the power side. I have the regulator set at 165BAR and the hammer spring is 3 turns out.

From the data you can see that the 18.1gr pellet is showing pretty unbelievable results. I have to say that it also was very accurate in 100y range. Almost MOA, I have to say this was in a windy weather almost the best 5 shot group I have shot in those conditions

I love the flash but the first things I would do is figure out a larger air tank/bottle for it's shot count then a reg. I have never owned one but have shot one before and was pretty impressed, especially for it's price. Good luck with your tinkering. I am the same way with modding budget rifles. I have an avenger and gauntlet that have over $1000 bucks into each lmao. Here is my avenger in 22 that is 60fpe capable.

Today I had some freetime finally and I did some serious upgrades! I mounted the 30" L&W barrel I got from the gunsmith and it looks pretty crazy.

I also got my Bushnell Match Pro 6-24x50 scope mounted with FX no-limit rings. I decided to get longer screws for the rings that hold the scope in place, because some people seemed to have a problem with how they short they were. I didn't want to have the same problem and that's why I got the longer ones. I also bought a Wheelers anti-cant indicator and mounted it.

Iw ould seem that now I just have to go to the range and zero it. Then I will have to find out what is the best ammo through it and do some testing :D Pretty exciting times!

Yeah the shot count is really something I was after too. I found a BT65 air cylinder that goes straight on to the Flash. Now I have a 255cc air cylinder on my Flash. Yesterday I got a L&W barrel back from a gunsmith and now I have a 30" barrel to put into the flash! pretty crazy :D

Hey, uh, whatcha doin with the old cylinder?
