This post is a follow up from: https://www.airgunnation.com/topic/had-to-share-hn-sports-new-slugs/
Finally got the H&N slugs in my hands I choose .22 30gn for testing. First impression opening the can: Those are DARK! compared to other slugs brands. I thought it was oil or some lubbing but after careful review, is some sort of coating, you can not remove it using your fingers (and is not sticky) but you can remove it using your fingernails (scratching). First time I saw that on slugs. Wonder how will this affect the barrels/liners? more cleaning probably? Also the hollow point is not too deep.
I did not clean it, I did not lube them, and I did not sort them, just straight from the can.
Made several 5 shoot test @ 100yards with SilverSurfer
Speed: 980 fps
Reg Pressure: 130bar
Liner: SlugLiner 0.22 cal
Wind: Light, not much influence, maybe 1 moa to the side.
Energy: 64fpe
Size: .217
ACCURACY APPROVED, SILVERSURFER say YES! actually I was impressed by them. That coating might (or not) have something to do with accuracy. (I believe it does)
I will hunt / pest this weekend with those to see how they perform.
In general the only "downside" on slugs is that the pop sometimes is too loud , not backyard friendly for sure! Your neighbors might come out to check the sound. (IMO is about 3 times louder than a pellet when your target is hit ... man is LOUD)
