Wow. I would have to send my 22 Cricket back to Earnest, Hey Earnest I want to shoot the new 33,956GR 22 pellet at a minimum of 940 FPS,,,, Please soup up the Cricket,,, Here is my Visa number,,,,,,,,, Mike
I can probably crank up up my MRod with a 22 Crosman barrel (yes I still have one in the corner of my garage somewhere) and since pellets do drop thru until it gets to the choke to give the beast a running start. Heck the crosman barrel has to be good for something
As it stands now the Beast come out of my Condor SS with a PW setting of 7 at ~885fps. If I had a heavier hammer I'm sure the speed would be more. If I put on my 24" barrel my speed would probably be much higher.
They shoot out of my gun very quietly and although I did not test for accuracy they seem to fly very well with no spiraling as they are going down range.
In my Stevens favorite, I mostly shoot cb caps, about 6 fpe. Shooting Beasts in my airgun @ ~80 fpe. I'd say we're on and by for pairity w/ pb guns (some) already.
I have airguns making upto 200fpe and everything in between. One thing to consider is that diabolo pellets dump energy fast and trajectory runs them straight into the ground long before a .22lr and bigger firearms. Now, you jump into the realm of airguns and bullets and it becomes a whole new can of worms.
I got 60 tins (9000) from PA. I do not know what the will shoot well out of, I just had to have them. I will figure out what they shoot good out of later.
These pellets are designed to be used in a Huben K1 semi automatic airgun in caliber .22. These hubens are fully externally adjustable and are capable of delivering +80 fpe in .22. These hubens hit the Dutch market a couple of months ago and as far as I know every new shipment is still sold before it arrives. They've gained a lot of popularity up here, at least for the semi-automatic part, accuracy wise I don't know. There are some mixed stories about the accuracy...
From the fit between the Beasts and the magazine--no room to move for or aft--I had assumed either the Huben was designed to the Beasts or the Beasts were designed to the Huben. As I suspected!
Can't find much info on the BC for the Beast after a short search, except this post where they measured it at a BC of 0.132 while another at 0.050, yet another 0.045. Any ballpark figures (i.e 0.045-0.055)?
I have a couple tins. Yes, they are heavy. Purchased along with the .22 25 grain JSB's for my Marauder. I have it tuned to throw the 25 grain Monsters at about 830 fps. When I switch to the 34 grain Beasts, speed drops to around 650 fps.
To shoot them effectively I'll need to tune the gun to shoot like it's .25 caliber brother. Easily done, I just haven't had time to do it.
I think our friend in South Africa, Mr. Dubber had something to do with the design, or at least asking for them. Laws down there are based on caliber, not on FPE, so he prefers to stick with a .22 air rifle, and if it throws some serious lead, that's all the better.
