Kral NP-03 Burst Disk

I was able to source a couple from the UK . Came out to like $6.09/each plus shipping cost , plus customs inspection time . Maybe show up a month from now ...

So in mean time I've ordered some copper shim stock 0.008" . The burst disk measured 0.0085" thickness ; should work just fine .

Next I'm going to fabricate a 9mm round disk cutter . So for you Kral owners out there , I'll have us covered . I'll follow up with production and results in this post when completed .

The Yong Heng disk are 6.5mm the Kral is 9mm . Might work , I'll look through my Y.H. parts kits see if there is an extra to try out . Also the thickness is 0.04" where as the Kral is 0.0085" I think it would hold the air from leaking but would not be safe in the purpose as intended . I read that the newer type air tanks are only rated at 20% over the rating before they would explode . Which equates to a 200 bar (3000 psi ) tank would explode at 240 bar ( 3600 psi ) .

Pretty easy to make from shim stock . I'll stay with the 0.008 and go upwards if needed . I will construct a test devise to find at what pressure my disk pop .

But thank you for the suggestion .

Nowhere near enough of a safety factor for this mechanical engineer...I know 4500 PSI SCBA tanks are hydro tested at 7500 psi. Serious anus pucker with a 20% safety factor. A mere pressure guage error could cause a catastrophe.

I know for a fact they are tested well past double the listed fill pressure.
