Manufacture defect on M3 Picatinny Rail

My M3 Compact's Picatinny Rail has manufacture defect. The thickness of both sides are not equal. The right side is obviously thicker than left side, especially the front end. It brought confusion to me in the last two weeks. Finally I found out the problem after switching my MKII's rail. Submitted service form yesterday, now I'm waiting for the response from FX. So if you have hard time to adjust gun cant/scope cant on Impact that with 20 moa rail. Maybe you should check this.

Since all these parts from CNC, the machining precision is under 0.1mm without a doubt. Then every parts and the rifle need to go through the whole manufacture QC/QA process. This rail is one of those defective parts that been put on M3 and received by customer. If these 0.8~1mm errors are on some inside parts, someone will experience leak, tuning issue, even malfunction rifle. It's my personal opinion. Maybe I'm asking too much. I can't accept my leveler, hex screwdriver, or other tools have similar errors.

FX replied today 'our technician has stated that this is a cosmetic issue and does not affect the performance of your rifle and therefore is not covered under the outline of our warranty'. I am pretty disappointed now. It's about a leading company/brand how to look at their QC/QA, and how to stand back their top model product.

So a brand new rifle with a cosmetic issue(defective parts) is not considered a problem? Even only considering cosmetic of product, this defective rail also need to be replaced. M3 is top model of FX rifles. It’s retail price is at least $2000! Surly, the cosmetic issue is an issue need to be addressed.

Try to think about it. Can you accept purchasing a brand new car with uneven gaps with your doors? How about a dent on front/rear bumper or engine cover? Those are also a cosmetic issues and do not affect the performance of your brand new car. Can you take it? 

This is my opinion. I don’t think I'm asking too much.

I would say that is rather disappointing, cosmetic defects are still manufacturing defects as you have stated and the warranty specifically says manufacture defects! I would call and talk to them on the phone and make your point be heard!!!

Thank you. Will call FX on Monday. I want a formal conclusion from FX customer service. Not from their technician.

We all want perfection but it doesn't always happen. Yes, there appears to be a production error in the rifles described above. But honestly, a lot of barreled actions are off more than that in the stock inletting, so when the stock is square on a bipod, the action is not, same effect. But, we compensate for it in mounting the scope and forget about it. I'm not saying the owners are wrong to bring it up to FX, and if pushed, I expect FX will replace it. I would be inclined to just shoot the rifle, but good luck in seeking satisfaction.

this is not just a cosmetic issue. mine arrived like this as well and the scope was tilted 1mm to the left

their response was i did something to mess it up.and then my response was that they shouldnt sell me an impact in the first place.. i now sold both my impacts and ordered a daystate delta wolf

Wow, I'm sorry to know these. they even blamed you for the defective parts? Is that a formal response from FX-USA customer service? Or from some technician?

Jerry, sorry to hear about the defect.

If I could send a message to FX I'd tell them to put all of their engineers and machinists through a 1 year apprenticeship at an airgun manufacturing facility in Ukraine.

I had a MKI Wildcat. Sold it 2 weeks after receiving my first Taipan. Two totally different classes of workmanship.

Indeed, a marketing driven company compared to a simple, quality production company.
