My New Steve Corcoran Stock Arrived - Cricket 2 Tactical

I became aware that SC was making custom stocks for the Cricket 2 Tactical from Derrick Wall's post, after he tried one out on his 600mm/.30 cal and loved it:

I have a .22 cal/450mm gun, and while I love the bottle & shot count, I really didn't like the 'tactical' stock set up as much as I liked the standard Cricket wood stock. And I was able to grab the last laminate C2T stock which Steve had in inventory (don't worry - he is making more...). Was due over the weekend, but FedEx had some internal delays, and it finally arrived this morning.

It really seems to have transformed the handling of the gun. I like it a lot based on some very preliminary shooting, and will be shooting it much more at this Thursday's shoot at my house.

First appearance - very personal, but really looks incredible to me. Before and after pics (and the camera doesn't do the laminate stock full justice):

The new stock resulted in some changes to weights and dimensions. Here is a short chart:

My basic first thoughts:

1) I don't notice the weight difference. Lightening cuts were thoughtfully made in the design to only add 8 oz overall while giving you so much more stock to utilize, especially on the bench;
2) Handling of the gun is much improved. Shouldering, cheek weld and carrying the gun by the handle is now much more secure feeling;
3) It no longer says 'Tactical' on the side ;) ;
4) I'm 6'4" tall, so I appreciate the slightly longer LOP. OAL difference not noticeable to me;
5) Very comfortable butt pad (also adjustable like OEM);
6) Beautiful appearance, and beautifully made. Nice instructions with it. Fit is perfect;
7) Steve made accommodations to switch over the OEM in-the-stock magazine holder to his custom stock;
8) Gun is now much more stable on the bench for me. But at the same time is also more secure in the hand if on a walk-and-stalk;
9) Grip is very nice with great stippling (better than OEM). If anything the grip (like the OEM one) is just a tiny bit small for my 2XL hands. This is normal - it should therefore fit more folks with normal sized hands better than those like me with mongo hands;
10) Did I mention that it is really beautiful and very well made?

Looking forward to shooting this gun much more now, especially off the bench. It has kind of turned it into Kalibrgun's version of the Uragan Compact (which in my view is a very good thing!)

Lousy day to shoot as the wind was essentially calm, and then would gust to 15 from the 2:00-3:00 direction. But I was eager to try the new stock. Shot 10 magazines off a 280bar fill. Last 5 groups after I had settled in are shown. Groups were 7 shots each because the magazine holds 14. Distance was 25 yards. Looks like I was definitely coming off the reg for groups 3-4-5 (gauge showed 95bar when I finished shooting). Also I could see the wind gusts blow the pellets to the left in groups 3 & 4. But the wind was calm for group 5.

Definitely like the new stock from the bench. I tried a bunch of different bipod positions and several different rear bags - because with all of the real estate of the new stock I could! Didn't have nearly as much flexibility to achieve stability with the OEM stock pieces.

Looks very nice and I know it greatly adds to the already very capable attributes of the Cricket 2 Tac.

AoA just may not offer these after all. The idea, earlier in to this stock being made, was that AoA would be carrying it. Glad to see Steve is selling them direct though and they can be had more affordably this way I'd think.

Enjoy!! I sure am loving mine.
