NEW 2022 DAR GEN3

Still debating between this one and the Air Venturi Avenger in .25 caliber.

Both would be in wood stock.

Love to see a showdown from someone who has the luxury to have both and get their take.

Many thanks John and hope all is well.

It's going to be hard to beat the Avenger since it has a little more power, a 300 bar fill and an externally adjustable regulator.

'More Power'.........ahhh the magic words that just might help tip the scales towards the Avenger.

Especially since I'm focused on the .25 for hunting.

All my present PCPs are .22 so this will be my first .25.

Many thanks 'Heavy-Impact'!

From someone who has handled both the Avenger and the DAR I will say I wasn't to impressed with the Avenger. It feels extremely cheap with the majority of the components made from plastic. Great product to get people's foot in the door with PCP's but still a low quality short lived product. The new wood stock version is a small step up but in the end plastic is still plastic and will eventually fail. Essentially disposable airguns that won't last long enough to pass down, I'll take the DAR with wood and metal any day regardless of power levels. Thanks for all the work you do for the community Jon. Cheers

The stock, the vertical piece of the cocking handle with a bolt through it and a cover over the action. I wouldn't call that the majority or short lived. I can't think of anything on the gun that wouldn't be easy to repair.... but I do make my own parts. The stock does feel kinda cheap but I like the light weight. I'll take all the dead ones you can find.

As an owner of both an Avenger and a DAR, I tend to agree with the general sentiments expressed here.

The Avenger's longer barrel and higher fill pressure are undeniable advantages if your goal is power. And of course an externally adjustable reg makes it easy to tinker with different states of tune.

Whereas the DAR is more refined in a few important areas. Like the regulators for example. The Avenger's reg is notorious for both creep and poor input regulation (velocity changes at high fill pressure). These shortcomings are present in mine whereas the DAR reg is rock solid. The DAR's barrel is more substantial and the shroud is baffled which makes it much more effective. Then there are things like the nice aluminum magazines and wood stock that just overshadow the plastics of the Avenger.

So they each have their place but I think the temptation to compare them has more to do with them occupying a similar price point than it does their overlap in features.

Indeed,......love me a 200 BAR gun, not interested in a gun that needs 300 BAR to work no thanks,.....metal magazine a huge plus compared to the marauder style mags

external regulator ?......how many time you gonna change the regulator pressure ?

I was recently made aware of the 200 dollar price increase to the DAR Gen3. When the video was produced the retail only had 100 increase which with the upgrades sounded fair. But with a 200 dollar increase it puts the gun in a whole different qualification where there are many options for that price. Sorry for any confusion this has caused. My goal is to provide you with honest and accurate information.

No need to apologize John. It seemed they just jacked the price overnight out of the blue.

It is what it is I guess.
