Oh Happy Days. Unbelievable what people can do to bring Hapiness

Long post here, so bust out the pajamas and a bowl of pop corn. I’m about to unfold a tale that was close to five months in the making, and with the help of a few vendors and AGN members here, it all came to blossom on Sunday 1-17-2021-

Meet Matt. Great guy. Served in the USAFSO. Fellow airgunner and member of this forum. A year ago he reaches out to me asking if I could help him with his FX Wildcat. A tune job turned into a friendship, and one of the things he shared with me in all our airgun talk was he would one day like to own an FX Impact, as it reminded him of his military issue weapon.

Matt was able to purchase two used Impacts at a great unheard of price. His wife enjoys shooting PCP’s, so the second one was for her. He couldn’t wait to get his hands on them.

Thru a series of unfortunate events, the two Impacts never made it to him. They had gotten stolen while in route. So without going into all the details of who, what, why, when, and how, let’s just cover all that by saying Matt was SOL. Two Impact MK2’s gone.

A couple of months went by, and Matt had long since let that bad memory go, but I wouldn’t forget it. It upset me every time I thought about it. It was my wife that planted the seed that formulated a plan, one that would take almost five months, and it started with a shout out to Michael Wendt. My plan that I shared with him was to try and come up with a couple of Impacts to try and replace the stolen ones, and st the same time surprise Matt. Michael asked that I give him a couple of weeks to see what he could do.

It wasn’t long after that I received a brand new FX Impact MK2 in 30 caliber from FXUSA. THANK YOU MICHAEL & FXUSA!!! I was happy to get one donated, and I made the decision that since I had one impact, I would do my darndest to get it all built and tricked out so I could hand it to Matt and there would be nothing to buy or do to it. Just load, shoot, and have fun times. So I made my list, checked it twice, and made some calls-

Justin at Utah Airguns donated a 25 caliber complete barrel kit with probe and magazine- THANK YOU UTAH AIRGUNS!

Donny and Saber Tactical donated all the bling bling for this gun- THANK YOU SABER TACTICAL!

The man, myth, and legend, Mr JoeWayne Rhea of Cyclops Videos donated a sweet 6-24x50 FFP Riton scope- THANK YOU JOE!!

And when I thought I had everything, there were still the cool stuff needed like FX no limit Rings, speed loaders, o ring kits, stainless fastener conversion upgrades, a nice moderator like a Huggett Snipe, large capacity magazine replacement inserts, scope anti cant level, K&L safety switch upgrade, and I’m sure small parts I’m forgetting. Well, through out this venture I had secretly shared my plans with a few members here on AGN, just to share in the excitement, and lo and behold, before I knew it, they each ASKED WHAT THEY COULD DO TO CONTRIBUTE! I was like floored and made it clear to them that me sharing the story wasn’t meant to get them to donate anything, but they wanted to. I’m thinking to myself, “ WHAT AN AWESOME COMMUNITY!!!”

Here they are-

YENNIEDN

STOTI

BRAWLER1588

ELIS5173

INTENSEATY22

ORION

These guys, along with myself and a childhood friend named Randy Orrick, helped to complete the package. Randy is a great guy, who I recently introduced along with his son into this hobby.

So the plan was set. Matt had some Ammo sent to my house months ago that were for the incoming Impacts that never made it due to the theft, and he needed to come pick all that up. I also had his brothers Daystate Huntsman Regal that I worked on that he needed to grab. I called Matt and told him I had major surgery today on 1-22-2021 so Sunday the 17th was the window for him to come. He said his sons Gamo Urban was leaking and he asked if I could help him with that. No problem, I said, and see you on Sunday. Picking up his stuff along with me working on his son’s gun would buy me the time I needed.

So Saturday the 16th, I spent most of the day into the night creating this poster board showing all who donated to this cause-

Sunday, 1-17-2021:

i needed someone to video tape this whole surprise event. I called on my good buddy Robert. I knew he was perfect for this task as I could bounce ideas on him at a moments notice, and he’s always quick to come back with a solution. I’ll have to post up a video I had made of him, when last month I surprised the poop out of him by gifting him an Avenger 25 cal. But that’s for another time...

So the plan was, Matt was going to show up to my house at approximately 1pm. He would sit in a chair I purposely set next to my work table, to watch me fix his sons Gamo Urban leak, and we could talk and catch up. My friend Robert was to show up at 2pm, and when Matt asked who that was when he pulled up(like I knew he would), I said “ oh that’s a guy who bought an Impact and had it shipped to my house to doll all up”. Matt fell for it, like I had planned.

So I introduce him to Robert, and Robert told me at 3pmhe had to head home. So he hung out a bit as all three of us chatted up air guns while I finished fixing the urban leak.

At 2:45 Robert asked to see”his Impact “ so I pulled out the gun case. Matt came over to the table as he, too wanted to get a look see.

Robert held it, cocked and fired it, and as he was getting ready to set it back in the case he turned to Matt and asked if he wanted to check it out. Matt grabbed it, looked thru the scope, and I heard him mutter “ one day I’ll get one of these. Almost, but one day...”

So, folks, here is how the surprise went- the signal to Robert to pull off and start video taping was when I pulled out the two ELIS5173 speed loaders he created and donated. I had him custom engrave them to say USAFSO with a cool logo on it. So that’s what I did, I yelled to Robert, “ oh, almost forgot your speed loaders, Rob!”

As I made my way back to the impact inside it’s open case I asked Matt if he remembered these loaders as I told him long time ago about Elis’s speed loaders. He said yeah, and I offered to show him how they worked. So we are at the Impact, I’m showing and explaining how the loaders function, but I hid the top cover in my left hand as I didn’t want Matt to see the logo on it. Not just yet. Matt was in awe of the design of the loaders, and while Matt was pre occupied with the loader, Robert winked at me that it’s game on and the video is going. So I snapped the top of the loader onto the bottom half and handed the loader to Matt. He stared right at the USAFSO like I knew he would. He asked why it had that, and almost asked Robert if he, too, served as a special ops with the Air Force, but I intercepted and asked Matt- “ you want to know why that loader says that? It’s because that loader and everything in this gun case is YOURS!”

and this is where the video comes in, ha ha-

All in all a great Sunday. Again, I want to thank all of the AGN members that helped me make this possible in the last five months, along with the vendors, and a big thanks to Michael Wendt. The whole process consumed me, and although I’ll say it wasn’t hard to do, it did cause me to lose sleep many nights as I wanted it all to come out perfect, in which it did!

The Airgun Community is a great group of folks! There’s no way I could’ve accomplished this alone. The icing on the cake in all of this, is I’ve made some great friends along the way.

These were the magazines that Elis made and donated for this big surprise. So you can imagine Matt’s expression when I handed these to him, and him wondering if my buddy Robert was a fellow soldier, lol.

I want to add that Elis also donated a Saber Tactical Impact cheek riser which complimented all the Saber Tactical parts that were all over that gun. Saber Tactical sure makes some sweet pieces. On an all black Impact, which it was, along with the stainless fasteners from Yenniedn, that Impact just sparkled in its black FX case! True Eye Candy.

In all generosity and kindness you guys have made whole one who fell victim to the slings and arrows of outrageous misfortune. Methinks there is a spirit inside each of you who truly cares for their fellow man.

"But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make grace abound towards you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work."

For you will find it after many days

Just as you do not know the mystery of life forming in a pregnant woman

So you'll never understand the mystery at work in all that God does.

I see a great deal of kindness, help, concern, patience and giving of one's self on this forum. People dedicated to the building up and not tearing down of those created in the image of God. Thank you all for letting us see the essence of generosity in your hearts. Blessings to all of you.
