RAW REPORT

I use Homer Formbys tongue oil on my wood turnings giving them 15 coats hand rubbed. after they dry well i use a 9" buffing wheel with fine jewelers rouge to give it a silky smooth finish. After that i use McGuire's liquid car wax as the final finish.

I used Maccari's Royal London Oil I lost count of how many coats especially after I stripped part of it back to bare wood.
Each coat was gone over with either gray or white scotchbrite depending on issues.
Then when it had set for a week, I went over it with Maccari's Stock Mud.
Then finished off with some Mequires carnuba wax.

I used maccaris stuff as I have seen another members work in person, that uses it and his stock was/is gorgeous.
He however has done several, this is my first.

Learned a lot and will be doing my .22 aka, Psycho Zebra, next.

For my process i get small imperfections also but fill them with 2 part epoxy with a toothpick, sand them off with 600 grit paper and give one last coat of the oil then do the buffing process.

If I learned enough on this one, I may stick with the gloss on Psycho as the pattern on that one would really pop with a gloss.

I can't remember what your RAW's look like.

I may do one of the (2) HM1000X's that i have on order once they arrive. 

Here is my .25 cal. I think you have a Forest green gun that drove me crazy if i remember correctly. My .22 on order is in a forest green stock. The .30 cal will look just like the grey pictured.

Thanks Hynzie. The wood is English Walnut that was just turning rotten. That is where the figuring comes from.

I got I mean my son got the new targets out on the lake where they belong so now I can do some more paper punching, really like those bowls finish if I did a stock like that it would be for display only.
I want/need warm weather because this is getting real old fast.

No both mine are gray laminate.
The .22 is the sporter stock with modifications to the trigger guard.
The laminate pattern is really crazy on it hence the nick name Psychodelic Zebra.

yes I have the windage adjustment.
I did the cable removal modifications.
I bought the aluminum m slingshot instead of the cast iron.
I have had mine for a couple years now.

another laminate that I like is the Buckskin I think it is sharp and I dont see many of them.

I like your thumbhole stock.
my problem is the grip is too small for me.
I almost traded my LRT for a premium walnut thumbhole, it was gorgeous.
However I was going to have to cut the bottom cap off to enlarge the grip and 
stipple that area blending in with the factory stippling.

Then it would still be a compromise of looks vs. performance.
In the end I had to be honest with myself and back out of the deal.

Its a shame as it would have been gorgeous.

I have seen photos of the buckskin but I'm not too fond of it. I did however get to go back through the thread and found photos of the forest green. I ordered the .22 in green right after new year and the .30 about a month later. Since I ordered both from Ken we may discuss him doing some laser work on them. The only problem I think could be is that as you burn into different layers of laminate you get inconsistent burn rates based on the hardness of each layers material.

I would possibly be more interested in doing some laser work on the anodized block that HM1000X is engraved onto.
With the weather breaking soon I'm really getting excited to receive the .22 after Ken does his magic to do some shooting.
