RTI Prophet 3D printed pic mount - ebay

I saw that and was thinking of ordering it. Then I was wondering how solid the rails would feel. Not so worried about a light mount, more regarding the bipod. 

Depends on what filament was used. I do a ton of 3d printing. The vertical stacked layer lines, means the part was printed in the proper orientation to make a strong part. Next would be what the infill amount is. Surface finish looking as it does leads me to believe the person is printing way too fast. That could cause layer to layer adhesion issues and weaker part.

For a butt pad I wouldn't worry as much about structural integrity. I have a 3D butt pad on mine and love it.
To hold a bipod in place however I'm not so sure unless I was holding it in my hands.

The outside of the part is just a textured applied using the slicing software. It's called fuzzy skin I believe. It's done to add grip or feel. I use that texture on parts I want with extra grip.

A buddy of mine got one of those for his Prophet and loves it. 


I made this using a piece of 30mm CF tubing, a Leapers mount, a Monsterum mount with a pic rail cap, a piece of 2” PVC cut lengthwise I dressed with faux CF tape.

I tapped the pic rail cap so I could install a bolt through it and the PVC to hold in place with a nyloc nut. 

Remove the nut and I can install my bipod to the pic rail cap forward of the existing mount giving a much improved balance point.

With the PVC in place, it makes a great resting point for shooting sticks by not putting an undue weight load on the bottle and it also makes shooting offhand a breeze.

don't take my post the wrong way. i have not played with the fuzy skin effect. if it is that then i can understand the extra texturing giving a better feel or grip. for the price and given the part size it is a decent price for the mount. I'm guessing its around 8 hours of so to print the item. this one i did for my impact took close to 24 hrours
