Shooting bench plans?

Yep, I had planned on using a router to round the edges and make it look cleaner. I also added a couple shorter length boards up front so I can use my chronograph without it being too close to the barrel... might need to add one more? Still trying to decide If I should attach the bench seat or just use separate chairs. It's already heavy so I probably will make a short bench and connect it to the rear. Merry Christmas, Stoti

Very nice bench BSJ. We wanted to be able to shoot from both sides otherwise, I like that design! 

Finished our bench and got a chance to use it today. All pressure treated 2x6", a 4x4' and Trex decking for the top and seat. Will require no maintenance which is a big plus. I built it with the help of my 11 year old son. We had a lot of fun building it together. Hopefully we'll have many fun times shooting off it together too! My son's can shoot from the right hand shooter side and me from the left hand shooter side. Set up in the back yard... we have targets at 40 and 50 yards and love it! 

My first shooting session on my bench was with some new adjustments to my Crown .25. I made the adjustments to my .25 Crown for max power for shooting the 33.95 JSB MKI pellets. I got it shooting to an average of 875 fps with my reg. set at 147BAR and my hammer spring just shy of maxed out. My first 50yd, 10 shot group was half inch center to center, the first 9 shots were .360" center to center and of course I blew the last shot...tried to blame it on the wind but it was dead calm! This was the first time I've adjusted the regulator and didn't have to fine tune it. I got lucky, after adjusting my reg. pressure it was shooting one hole groups. I tried to upload a video of me shooting the group but I don't know how. It only showed about the first 10 seconds of the video??? Feeling pretty good with the 33.95 MKI JSB's at 875fps shooting half inch, 10 shot groups at 50yds!!! Happy New Years! Stoti

That's a really sweet bench! I don't have a welder or I would have gone that route for sure. Sturdy, maintenance free and clean looking. Would have been a lot less time to build and a heck of a lot lighter than mine too.

I do love the way our bench turned out. However, I went back and forth whether to use the bench seat with my shooting bench... I ended up building it and attaching it since I had the materials. After using it, shooting all day with my boys, I ended up taking it off. It limits our shooting positions, it was too low for my youngest son and it just wasn't comfortable. We pulled up a couple of cozy chairs from our outdoor furniture set and man is it comfortable to shoot from now! We also added pellet holders and a little basket underneath to hold our Chronograph, extra shooting bags, shooting glasses, etc. I'm so glad I built this table so I don't have to use a flimsy card table or shoot prone when I want to punch paper in our home shooting range. It's a lot more comfortable for my boys to use as well and if they're shooting with me, I'm happy! Stoti

Thanks Jim, they're definitely my two favorite shooting buddies. Once we got the gun situation sorted out and they both got good PCP's to shoot(Brocock Bantam Hi Lite and FX Streamline), we've been having a blast. They were both good shots before we got the PCP's for them but we shoot a lot more now, since we have a range in our yard. We also have vineyards and National Forrest all around us when we want to go hunt, which is about every weekend. We had a blast building this bench together and hopefully we'll have years of fun shooting off of it too. Happy New Year! Stoti
