So I lied . . . to myself . . . again.

My PCP affliction started about a decade ago but in the last 2-3yrs, I haven't been as active due to the (predictably) diminished squirrel population around my property. This last year, I'd sold off the trusty Edgun Matador R3M, an FX Royale, and a couple of Crowns bought out of curiosity but never really shot - all because I just don't shoot enough to keep all of these rifles. What remained was what was able to fit in my safe: 0.25 Vulcan bullpup, 0.25 FX Impact, 0.25 Edgun Leshiy and a 0.22 Colibri Hummingbird and those were more than adequate to dispatch any squirrel in my yard.

However, every August my attention shifts from my other hobbies back to airguns. This year, I told myself that I'd done a good job selling off the extra rifles and the collection is good as is. I saw some photos/videos of the Vulcan2 and wasn't THAT interested because, I mean, how much better could it be compared to my current, uber reliable Gen3 Vulcan? I told myself I'd check some reviews of the Vulcan2 once a few people got their hands on it but would probably be satisfied to keep everything status quo this year.

Well, a couple of weeks later - here's what's in the safe:

A couple of calls to Tony @ TalonTunes and Brian @ EdgunWest and the 0.25 Vulcan2 replaced the Gen3 Vulcan and the Impact was swapped out for the 0.25 Lelya 2 . . . and since the Lelya was so amazingly cool, I had to pick up the 0.25 R5M to complement it. I've only had the new rifles for a couple of weeks and have barely had the time to sight them in. Will make a couple of separate threads to do a more detailed review of the new Vulcan and Edguns.

So now, I'm set. Really, for reals this time. There's nothing else out there that I need or want . . .

Although, I hear that the new Colibri is supposed to be coming out sometime later this year . . . ;)

Damn bro! you may need to speak to a airgun therapist. lol

He DID try to speak to an airgun therapist. He talked to someone from American Obsessive Airgunners. Well, he thought that was there name... they call themselves AOA for short. Real nice people, but he can't understand why they aren't much help getting him past his addiction to airguns.

Hey Pat - thanks, I started out with and went through a lot of nice PCP rifles. Once I got my first Edgun bullpup, it was all over and have gone bullpups almost exclusively ever since. I still love the look of some the rifles so that's why I picked up a couple of Crowns out of sheer curiosity earlier in the year - but sold them both shortly after because they were too much power for what I need and the shorter bullpups fit me better. The top one is a Kalibrgun Colibri Hummingbird in 0.22 - it's the most quirky rifle I own and is seemingly more prone to leaks but it's also the one I've kept the longest because it really is a sweet rifle gun. I don't shoot it much as it's a 0.22 and I mostly prefer 0.25 for squirrels but it's an accurate killing machine when it does make it out of the safe. I had to borrow the SWFA scope off of it to put on the Lelya 2 so it's currently scope-less.

There's a newer version that's supposed to come out sometime this year but it looks fairly ugly (I'll probably get one anyways just to see how it compares).

I try to only keep 4-5 rifles around at any given time and sell off a rifle once I get a new one in. It's hard enough to choose between the rifles that I keep not to mention trying to decide between multiple generations of the same model.

Oh, my, that is a collection of art work. Amazing collection! Sharing those photos, triggers me to start thinking about buying more airguns I can't afford.

Wow! does the Lelya compare to the Hummingbird? Similar? I got my Lelya in .22 and love it. I believe the Hummingbird is the only other gun on the market that can compare to the Lelya. From what I heard, it was kind of a dud, yea?

is that r5m or lelya really better than Impact?

It depends on what you're after . . . if you want a rifle that will allow you to change calibers (relatively) easily and has lots of adjustments, then you go with the Impact. If you want a boringly reliable and accurate rifle that you'll hardly ever have to service (but is very easy to do if/when needed), then the Edgun is that gun. But who's to say what's better? That's why there are blondes and brunettes (and redheads too).

Thanks, David. The Lelya 2 and Hummingbird aren't that similar in my opinion. The Colibri is a quirky, often problematic rifle that has had its many flaws well documented. I went through about 5-6 of them to find this one that I ended up keeping . . . and sure enough, it still has a very, very slow leak. It's not that sturdy or easy to work on - if you've ever seen the inside of one, there's a piece of copper tubing that is curved in a couple of places and I always imagine that if that piece ever broke it'd be hell to fix. On the plus side, it's light, super accurate, easy/fast to cock and very quiet even without an aftermarket LDC. Yet despite its quirks, the Colibri remains one of my favorite PCPs ever - that's why it's to only rifle to survive the last two year's annual PCP purges.

This new Lelya is basically a shortened Matador with a forward ambidextrous cocking mechanism. Built like a tank and supposed to be even easier to work on than previous generation Edguns. It's got a pretty loud pop to it at the 0.25 caliber due to the small/short factory LDC.
