Tactacam FTS 5.0 Scope Cam System

Great vid Joe. I’d like to add a couple points. First, when you mount the camera into the mount, the gun needs to be in a rest. You have to slide the camera front to back in the holder to get the best focus, then you have to rotate the camera in the mount so the crosshairs will be level. After those two steps, tighten the camera down. Its a good idea to take a small strip of blue painters tape and go across the camera (left to right) and the mount and cut the tape between the camera and mount. It’s almost impossible to unlock the battery compartment and remove the end cap without twisting the camera, but by removing the camera from the mount, you lose your focus and crosshair level. With the tape, just slide it back until the tape lines up, and you’re focused and level again. Lastly, remove the battery from the camera when not in use. It will drain due to to the wakeup feature for use with the remote. Speaking of the remote, it takes the unit from badass to super frickin’ badass. Like this:

No you can't leave the cover off the battery will lose contact. Before I came up with the painters tape idea, I was barely twisting it and not locking it, although with heavy use or at night, you might lose the cap and battery. It's really just easier for me to remove the camera by loosening the one screw and realigning the focus and level with the tape.

Nice review. I got a Tactacam recently. Made a few short videos at long range that were good enough to share.

But, I was wondering what software is able to handle the 120f/sec. ???

I have Correl Video Studio 2019 it can only handle 30f/sec. It down grades the frames per second. Trying out Power Director 17 Ultimate but, it's not blowin my skirt up.

Anyone have a good non-smart phone, computer based editing program suggestion ???

Agree, my FTS holds to scope great, but does not hold camera tight, I can turn my camera easily in the mount. I put a piece of tape around my camera and now it holds tight. But probably best to just remove the camera to remove end cap, cause that thing is tight. I am still trying to figure the camera out, but all the videos I did so far are clear , no matter what setting. Never knew the battery would drain when not in use. What size and FPS is best for hunting shots at 50 yards or less?

When I change settings on the Tactacam, using my phone the next time I turn the cam on it is back to the original settings. I keep changing the image size to smaller size but it goes back to 4K everytime I turn it back on. How do I fix this?

With the help of Fox & Tactacam, got it working. Had to do a software upstate to camera.

The FTS units prism/mirror setup utilizes the actual optical zoom of the scope itself. (It is truly optical) The Tactacam 5.0 camera unit has a fixed 3x optical zoom that can also digitally zoom up to 8x. (You would/could normally use digital zooming while using the camera on its own with a barrel or rail mount without the FTS.) If you wish to use the camera for very long periods of time without the back cap on, I have successfully used the mini USB charging input with a small lipstick or candy bar-style cell phone power bank. This does not require the Tactacam battery to be installed. Using the FTS unit as a teaching aid, it can be very handy to "cord" the unit to both a power bank and TV. This is great when teaching kids, as it allows others to view the camera feed live and leave everything set up for very long periods of time while letting the one doing the shooting to naturally aim. This method is particularly handy when dealing with several at once while you have the luxury of a bench and rest. At ranges that do not have power close to the benches, I power the TV via a 12V battery and inverter. I have run the removable batteries a ton and I get pretty much spot on 2.25 hours per battery while also running the app via WiFi non-stop. (I run my demos like this at all the shows I attend.)
