Tuning Your M3 Tunes Here

Anyone have any luck with their M3 in .35 shooting the NSA 93gr. slugs?

I have the NSA 93 and 79 gr but the weather has been terrible and I haven't had a chance to get back to the range to post my specific findings. We have more rain in the forecast but as soon as there is a break I'm heading back out. Also, have been waiting for my new scope and 34mm rings to get delivered; today's the day and FedEx already brought me my rings now just waiting on UPS.
I was also able to purchase 5 tins of JSB .35 pellets from Utah Air so when I head out it will be to sight in my new scope and get the best groups with 79gr and 93gr slugs and the JSB pellets.

I had the ATN 4K scope on but am switching to a BlackHound to see how I like it. I also have the new Altaros 32gr slugs arriving from overseas today so my range trip will be lengthy. These are the slugs with the .18 bc; we will see...

And also any luck with 44.5 Hybrid in 30 cal for m3? Thanks

I second this

Here was the tune given at the end of the most recent 68 Whiskey video: https://www.airgun101.com/component/allvideoshare/video/airgun-hunting-double-taps-with-scope-cam-fx-m3-impact-madness?Itemid=456

M3 .30 700mm (with hammer spring spacer/weights installed from slug kit. This makes a big deal in reg pressure required)

Macro 16

Micro 4.25

1st reg 175

2nd reg 125

valve out past 4th line

slug kit installed

FX 44.5gr Hybrid slugs @965

How was your accuracy with this set up? Have you also tried with any other weight pellets or slugs?

Keep up the good work. I’m on the fence on getting the 30 or 35 barrel next. I don’t see many people using the 35. Here in Idaho it’s legal to hunt dear with 35 cal.

I spoke with a FX dealer about getting either a .30 or .35 barrel kit for my factory M3 in .25. He told me that the .35's that come from the factory have different internal parts. If you put a .35 kit on something other than a factory .35 it will work but you will not get the same performance.

Rifle specs / mods:

.22 700mm

Superior heavy liner with carbon fiber sleeve

Ernest Rowe dual high flow transfer port

Huma high flow pellet probe

2x hammer spring spacers from FX slug power kit

Details for 27.5gr .218 dia Nielsen slug tune:

165 bar 1st reg

135 bar 2nd reg

valve 1.5 turns open past 4th line on 4 line valve housing (full open)

16 macro

2.75 micro

955 fps

Since this rifle is going to be used for ground squirrel blasting 90% of the time, I tested the 24.8, 27.5, and 28.5gr slugs, any of which provide ample muzzle energy for squirrels at longer range while still being decent on air use to give a higher shot count per fill than the heavier 31.2gr slugs. The 27.5s have a good BC for their weight (0.090BC) and luckily my barrel liked the 27.5s best. For info, max velocity plateau for this setup with the 27.5gr slugs is 990fps. I set the macro to 16, started the micro at 1.25, and worked up using the micro only to find the velocity peak and then backed off the micro from the peak down to 980fps and shot groups dialing the micro down little by little looking for best accuracy which ended up being 955fps.

Adjusting this way having the macro at 16 for the slug tune makes it easy to remember that 16 is the default slug adjustment. I get about 72-75 shots per fill with this setup.

Details for 18.1 gr JSB pellet tune:

Everything the same as the slug tune, except adjust macro to 4. This result in 925fps. Accuracy is quite good but could be better. Tried shooting groups from 825-950fps and 925fps were the best. My hunch is the twist rate of the superior heavy liner might be too fast for the lighter 18.1gr pellets. Still, it's a good combo for smaller backyard or closer range pesting at 34 ft-lb when the slugs might be overkill. Also good for closer range target practice in the backyard since it's much easier on air use than the slug tune. Zero changes up 0.3 mils and left 0.7 mils from the slug zero.

Details for 25.4 gr JSB pellet tune:

Everything the same as the slug tune, except adjust macro to 12. This results in 935fps and absolutely fantastic accuracy with the 25.4's, they seem to get along very well with the superior heavy liner. 49 ft-lb, good for larger critters or longer ranges in places where the slugs might be overkill. Zero changes up 0.2 mils and left 0.2 mils from the slug zero.

Anyone have tune suggestions for a 600mm .25?!
Mine is set at 175 first reg, 130 2nd reg, macro on 16 and micro at 4, valve adjuster just over the 4th line. But unfortunately I’m still getting ES anywhere from 12-15fps. I’ve tried doing a bunch of different things but can’t get the ES down. Shooting 29.5g NSA slugs at around 950fps.

I'll have to write down my numbers next time I tune for the 29.5 NSA's, but with my 600 M3 I usually run the valve adjuster all the way open. With any NSA slug ES is really low. Usually within a few FPS. I would open the valve adjuster all the way and then tune the reg for your desired FPS. My 2nd reg usually resides anywhere between 100-110 bar with the 1at reg at 150.

I used these settings on my 30 cal with 700mm barrel and even without the slug kit I am seeing around 935 fps shooting the FX hybrids. I will still play with the tune and see if I can get it to group tighter, but at 50yds and dealing with some wind I was able to put an entire magazines worth slugs through about a three quarter inch hole, after shooting my 25 cal MK1 for the last 3 years or so, I am positive the M3 will tighten up after a bit more tuning. But starting with 68 Whiskeys numbers got me in the ballpark in less than five minutes.
