Umarex  Notos Accuracy

Hi guys - I have a fairly OTB Notos I got a couple months back - I've only made a couple easy mods - Opened up the regulator 1/4 turn, polished the trigger mechanism (super smooth pull now) lowered its tension, and then drove in the hammer spring all the way in. Aside from cleaning with the patch worm and adding a picatinny barrel grip & bipod, not much else is modified. I'm dead nuts around 15-20 yds (My favorite perch is out the kitchen window, at about 20-30 degree angle down to a target setup at 15yds & a 4-panel of targets on plywood out right at 40 yds.) -
Anyhow - I've been tweaking cause i have issues with the 40+ yds grouping. Being dead center at 20, I go out to the 40yd, and first shot nearly always strays - but then I'll have the subsequent shots anywhere but bullseye. It's kind of random, too - around 4" apart from each other, some a bit high, some a bit low, and left or right. I can sometimes see the pellet pop out of the barrel and arc down to the target. I'd hoped by opening up the regulator and hammer spring i'd get more of a shot on a rope, but not the case. It did pretty well suck my air supply down too - I still get about 35 shots in from 3,500psi before it starts hitting red though. I'm shooting Diabolo 18gr pellets, which I read in this thread are the pick for accuracy - and don't think it's the pellet I'm chasing.
Is the gain I'd get from a mod drop block & plenum with an upsized canister enough to be considering as the culprit here? I've seen many posts with 50yds being no problem for guys - so hoping maybe it's just the pressure I need to push a little harder? I did clean the barrel a couple times so far, last time just a couple of days ago. If anyone has some thoughts on it, mods maybe even not requiring purchases I'd appreciate that a lot. Thanks a bunch!

Confidence Builder

I received my HW97 about a week ago. During that time I’ve shot about 400 rounds at paper, cans and shotgun shells. In my practice I’ve adjusted the trigger down probably too much. I’ve spent many hours sighting in, first at 20, then 40 and finally settled on 35 yards. Most of my pests will be between 30 and 40 yards.
Today I sat waiting for the pesky squirrels to show themselves. I’m shooting off a bag using a 14.3 pellet.
Patience finally paid off. I had two confirmed kills and a third hit but wounded. The two kills were head shots. One looking at me, right between the eyes and the other one a profile headshot that bled like a stuck hog. Distance for each was 33 and 36 yards.
I am posting to say that when you practice and do everything right you are rewarded with success. It instills confidence in yourself and in your weapon. The squirrels are about to go under for the winter but I’ll be waiting when they wake up.

New species for me.

I am out at the ranch we manage for a few days. Cleaning up and getting ready for winter and to be here for opening of bird season to keep people from hunting without permission.
Earlier this year the guy who farms it asked me to shoot any and all badgers I saw as his hay fields were being damaged heavily by them.
Today I was out driving around looking for some old baling twine to put garden hoses up for the season and ran across this guy.
He was at about 60 yards maybe a taste over. Put a 30 cal Hades through his front shoulder and into the vitals. He made it about 3’ before collapsing.
It was working its way away from me.and I did not want to shoot any further than I was, so when it turned broadside I shot for the shoulder. Pellet hit a bit lower than I wanted it to but it expired quickly.
I did not open it up to see what damage was done but I am guessing the heart was involved as fast as it went down.
This Panthera Compact Hunter may be the new truck gun. I would not have taken the shot with my Maverick 25 Compact. The extra 40+ fpe came in handy.
before anyone asks, no the bottle was not rolling around the back of my truck. I had just finished airing the gun up and moved it and the baling twine out of the way For the picture.

Looking for something new.

Evening everyone,

I promised myself earlier this year that I would not purchase any new RC airplanes this year and none in 2025. So far so good, still several to build. Unfortunately my wife has noticed my lack of spending money on things she disapproves of so something must be done. I’ve given some thought to a bull pup since i don’t have one. The only specs I have are .177 or .25, pcp, wood stock, seven shot or more magazine and I want to operate the action similar to a biathlon action. Quick, smooth and reliable. Lower power scope or red/green dot sight, it has to look good and carry well and be able to live in a soft case in my truck. Cost under $500. What is available that fits these specs?

O rings installation tool

Hello all. What tools or gadgets do you guys use to install these very tiny o rings such as for regulators. I had to replace some o ring in a regulator about a year ago and those damn things are a pain. I got it on eventually after tearing up two and its all good now. So just wondering if you guys use anything that would make replacing these tiny o rings easier.

FX  FX Impact M4 - Velocity consistency?

When you let the gun sat overnight, have the velocity changed in the following day?

  • Same fps every single day no matter how long the gun left unused

    Votes: 12 38.7%
  • Lower fps in the first couple of shots

    Votes: 18 58.1%
  • higher fps in the first couple of shots

    Votes: 1 3.2%

Just curious, when you left your FX Impact M4 overnight and shoot it the next day, the very first shot you took in the follow day does the velocity changed from the previous day?

If there's no change in velocity no matter how long the gun left unused, then it should indicate everything is working as it should.

If it's lower in the first couple of shots, then went back to the same velocity as previous day, then it could possibly mean there's a small slow leak in the plenum or the reg right?

If it's higher in the first or 2nd shot the next day, then drop back down to the same velocity as previous day, then that's possibly a sign of reg creep, when more air creeping into the plenum overnight

Not taking about POI or anything, just the velocity alone.

PCP Rifle  SOLD Airgun Revisions Crosman Challenger 2021 HFT

I have a nearly pristine AR Challenger HFT. It is tuned from AR to shoot 18 fpe and I've included a chrony string to show what it's capable of. It is deadly accurate, as are all AR custom rifles.
I really hate to let this one go, but I haven't shot it much, and have just been shooting other rifles and it sits, so it's time to let someone enjoy this fantastic rifle. Target is 30 meters
No scope or rings included
$800 shipped in con US

CVlife scopes how good or bad are they??

i have a pretty inexpensive $50 scope..... the

CVLIFE Rifle Scope 6-24x50 AO Red and Green Illuminated Long Range Scope for Hunting with Scope Rings

it has good reviews on amazon but we all know amazon reviews are not always indicative of the product.....

i was wondering how good or bad it is .. i am not expecting great optics but hopefully good enough....... besides my eyes are not as good as they used to be.... i am really hoping it will just stay zeroed and i would be happy with that. FWIW i am putting it on a brand new air venturi Avenger .25 cal.

many thanks and happy shooting all!

October TEXtreme Bench-Rest Silhouette Match Report

Considering it's been a while since I've opened a match report with an apology, anyone that knows me probably suspected that couldn't last for long! See how 'artfully'🥴 I avoided doing so this time?

All six shooters attending last Saturday's BRS match (almost A WEEK AGO) contested the 100 Foot Pound Pellet class. Jim Byrd prevailed for the coveted Match Winner hat-pin with a 33/40 score posted with his Athlon scoped .30 caliber FX Impact, shooting 45.06 grain JTS pellets 880 FPS. His 33/40 was also high score of the day... by a very wide margin. Great shooting, Jim! 👍

Jim Clarke was second in 100 Foot Pound Pellet Class with an excellent 28/40 score. JC shot 33.95 grain JSB pellets 960 FPS in his Hawke scoped .25 Red Wolf. Good shooting, Jim.

Jim Byrd also won the (100 FP maximum) Slug class by posting a 26/40 score with his Athlon-scoped .25 Vulcan 3, shooting 50 grain Altoros slugs 885 FPS. Good shooting, JB.

The Clarke Jim dominated the three-shooter 30 Foot Pound Pellet field by posting the same 26/40 score the Byrd Jim posted in winning Slug class. Fine shooting, JC! Jim shot 18 grain JSB pellets 930 FPS in his Hawke-scoped .22 Red Wolf in that fine 35 Foot Pound performance, for 34.9999901 foot pounds. Yes, I exaggerate; he had almost a half foot pound to spare.😉 Good shooting, Jim.

As for why this match report is so late in coming, my excuse is exactly that. I have been very busy trying to keep up with maintenance, repairs and modifications of seemingly everything in Ronny World breaking down faster than I can keep up. About the time I get one vehicle, mower, airgun, crossbow, arrow(s), home-upkeep, or (high priority) HOT TUB fixed😡, TWO MORE everythings go down!🤬

Consequently I'll CLOSE this match report with an apology... and by repeating myself.

See how 'artfully'🥴 I avoided opening this match report with an apology?

Take it away, Bob-

FX  Ordered an FX Impact M4 .30 cal Copper 600mm, now what?

I currently have a Leshiy 2 Sparrow and it's been great with slugs. For the M4 I did get the FX slug liner kit, looking for a scope now and also ordered a DonnyFL Ronin.

What other mods have you done to your M4 or M3 to make it perform better, this will be shooting under 100 yards and used for varmints etc.
