FX  FX Airguns Dynamic at 1000 Yards Part II + 1000s of Prairie Dogs

This hands down is the best video I’ve ever created! LIVE ON YOUTUBE TODAY! This is part 2 of a 3 part series of all the shenanigans I’ve been on over the last few months. BEST. SUMMER. EVER! Thank you Utah Airguns!

Watch as we test the precision of FX Airguns at 1000 yards with the FX Dynamic .357 and Element Optics Theos. Plus, see the incredible results on thousands of prairie dogs! In this video we cover all the technology and preparation that went into this 1000-yard shot. This shot was not my furthest ever with an airgun nor the longest shot on record, but hands down the most repeatable and consistent setup I have ever seen with an extreme long-range airgun.

We found the perfect ammo combination with the 145 gr. Griffin slugs with crazy high BC and after getting our initial velocity and BC readings from the FX True Ballistics Radar, we let the Element Optics take over. The new Ballistic Solution Trueing feature will blow your mind in how it can take just a few inputs and completely rewrite your solution for first round impacts out to 1000 yards.

At the end of this video, we take this .357 FX Dynamic out to Southern Utah for some high power smack down on nuisance prairie dogs destroying farmland all across the region. The sound of a .357 HP FX Hybrid slug is one of the most satisfying sounds an airgunner will hear. Buckle up because this is one of my most EPIC adventures ever.

Illuminated reticle opinion and suggestion

I'm thinking i want to replace the scope i have on my PCP. Currently have a traditional scope but when varmint hunting in evenings and night, i sometimes lose the reticle in low light. Sometimes i use a predator light and others it's just ambient light

Who uses an illuminated reticle and does it help ?
Suggestions for a varminting scope ? Probably don't need more than 14 or 16 magnification on the high side. (or let me know your thoughts)

Another old guy

Another new old guy,
Hello all, just joined in on the fun !
I've been reading and learning a few things from this forum and thought to join .
I may have some questions sometime and thought you guys have seen it all.
Just retiring and got myself an Impact m3, hope it wasn't a mistake after reading some of the dislike on here. So far it is coming along OK with the many mods.
I used to shoot some benchrest and shotgun sports about 30 years ago, sold most of that stuff and now a PCP to add to a couple of springers.
Now I can shoot on my property along with a few farms and ranches.

AliExpress / Qiufeng $100 Muzzle Mounted Chronograph

About 1 month ago, I purchased a muzzle mounted, chrony on Aliexpress.
Im very impressed so far!

$100 chrony, (might be $110 or $120 now as I ordered about a month ago...)
Made by Qiufeng, and sold on Aliexpress.
1/2" x 20 threads at end, so it attach's to most airguns.
Seems to have a large enough inside diameter to accomidate up to .30 caliber, but I have NOT confirmed.
Its recording very comparable speeds, that Im getting from my FX 2 Pocket chrony.
Its recharageable, and records in both FPS and MPS.
Helps keep things quieter, to a very small degree.

Cons?
With a simple conversion, I must enter the weight of a projectile in GRAMS, not GRAINS....
Thats my only complaint, and it is not a big deal....Just a simple conversion.
FX Royale, Crown, and Impact should be no problem, but attaching it to a Umarez Notos may become an issue.

Comes with a hard case, and cord.
Highly recommended, but I can no longer find a Aliexpress link.

FX  Impact M3 how to get slug fps decent !?

Hello from Australia

Been reading these forums for tips and advice since I went PCP and I got my .22 Impact M3 600mm ~ 2 years, great gun straight out of the box and I set it up to shoot rainbow lorikeet's on the vineyard(declared pest/vermin in this part of Australia that destroys grape vines and kills native birds).

Found the JSB 18gr Barracuda Hunter to work great @ ~960 fps, and after fitting a CF barrel stiffener and harmonic balancer the gun was super accurate and consistent I was never going back to the .22 LR, even though the Tikka .22 LR was so much lighter than the PCP, when I tried it again it just highlighted how accurate and consistent the Impact M3 was and the large capacity magazine really seals the deal.

So now I though I would try shoot something heavier for the rabbits and rats, so I got a STX heavy liner and some slugs, just fitting the liner and trying to shoot a 27gr + slug yielded pretty low fps even after turning the regs up to 140/120, then 160/140, I was barely getting 800fps with the 27.5 nsa .218's and 700 something with the 33gr zans. With the 23gr slugs I could get high 900...

After much reading of forums and watching YT etc it was clear I needed other upgrades !, so I ordered the slug power kit with the tungsten hammer and pin probe and Huma 2nd reg, then after more research worked out that to make the 14g hammer work I needed a lot more pressure so I ran the gun up to 180/165 and didn't really get the speed with the 33+ gr slugs, the gun was getting belted and air usage was extreme, tried the different springs and ball etc, still couldn't get heavy slugs moving and even the speed on the 23gr slugs wasn't much better with all this extra pressure !

Maybe the 14gr hammer is not right for this set-up, so I turned up a brass hammer that weights 8.35g and dropped the 2nd reg down to 140, now I was getting more consistent speeds about the same as the 14g hammer and 160+bar, gave up on the heavy slugs(wow did I go through some ammunition AND air !!) and needed to have the gun useable in the field again so focused on getting a good tune with the 23gr slugs.

I got the 23gr's going 1050 fps + with the regs dropped to 140/120, then sighted and tuned the harmonics etc until I got same speed shot after shot and good accuracy at 1040 fps.

TLDR:

How do I get at least 950fps, preferably 1050fps with a 33gr + slug in this thing !? Is my barrel too short @ 600mm ? Are these internet stories of 1000+fps 40gr .22 slugs fairy tales !?? Do I need even more extreme pressures ?

For me the ballistics of only getting 800fps out of a 33gr slug aren't good enough to bother using this gun for rabbits and rats(need projectile weight to punch through trees etc), its way sub par to a .22 lr with good ammunition doing 1050fps with a 40gr projectile.

PS : this is the late M3, already has power plenum etc std.

PCP Rifle  SOLD Bin tac SW45

I have a bin Tac S45 that I would like to sell. It currently is NOT holding air. I haven’t shot it in several months (worked fine prior) it was just way too loud for backyard shooting. I don’t have the time or the energy to break a gun down that I have no intention of shooting. Other than that it is in excellent condition. I’ll even throw in the recommended ammo. Two mags.

Resources  Creating Dope - my stubborn way

Of late I've become frustrated with "MY" lack of understanding using strelock pro or airgun elite.
So to create the best dope for the best chance of accuracy I have created my cavedweller methodology which i do after having confirmed and set my ZERO.
I create and validate dope by using a 5”x7” 1/8” or larger graph card stock, i even have some 11"x14" 1/8" graph paper which works just as well.

I draw a horizontal line across it the top of the paper an inch down and add vertical tick marks at 1” apart.

On a zero wind day shooting from a bench I do the following:

Beginning at 10 yards, I place graph card level and from a benchrest on a zero wind day, I put my bullseye on first points of intersecting tick and line and shoot.

I then carefully access my poi and annotate holdover.

I then put that holdover point on the first poi hole and shoot - in a perfect world the pellet will be hole on hole.

I repeat this from 10 to 60 yards moving 1/2 yard at a time from 10-22 yards then in 1 yard increments thereafter.

Lots of movement and exercise but the DOPE is SOLID!

Whew!

Added benefit is I am also double checking my ranging for accuracy at the same time.

Fred’s Clean Whip have you seen this!!!

I just recently picked a couple of these up at a shoot here in Utah. I have to say it’s the most ingenious idea I’ve seen in a long time for us Air gunners. Often times at these shoots I’ve seen many people have problems related to dirt in their air source. So when I saw Fred ‘s part, I got super excited to get involved. At first Fred only had plans for one or two just for his tanks. I strongly urged him to consider making more and selling them. A couple of months later Fred shows up at the shoot here in Utah, and he’s got a bag full of Fred’s Clean Whips. They’re beautifully made stainless steel, whip clip plug.
I’m mounted mine on the handle of my saber tactical bag a place where I could easily see where the end of the hose is. Also knowing it’s free from dirt and clean. And it wasn’t dragging in the dirt.

I happen to know Fred spends lots of time here on Airgun nation. I think his call is “Lloyd”.

A bid shout out to Fred (aka Lloyd)!

PCP Rifle  SOLD PCP collection for sale

Hey guys,

Due to a family emergency I think it’s best I try to sell my collection for now. It’s all like new in mint condition.
I started purchasing in March of this year, a lot of what you see has never even been used. I had to work 70-80 hour weeks to buy the items and range is an hour drive so I only fired the guns on 3 different occasions.
The gxcs4 has never even been turned on yet I just finished installing an hour meter on it to keep track of ru time for maintenance reasons.
Family medical situation has taken a turn for the worse an I have to prioritize my circumstances at the moment as reliably getting back and for to work and my own place are my issues at hand. Please call 3527403952 for any inquiries. Just quick numbers I’d think 3,500 would be fair.
I’m willing to mark everything 30% off what I purchased it for if anyone is interested. Thanks for looking guys.

Airforce  Talon P Carbine .25

In this age of fancy Airguns the Talon P .25 has managed to wow me. She’s a light weight ,pretty compact, single shot rifle producing 45 foot pounds with the Hades pellets. She’s capable of a lot more power. The chances of a leak are almost none because she has 4 o rings. The chance of poi shift is 0 because the barrel sits inside the gun and is held in place by grub screws so no bumping can set it off. She has lifetime warranty and is US made with the exception of the LW German barrel. The trigger is great and the only thing to adjust is the shoe. The caliber can be swapped for less than $200. There’s only one adjustment and that’s the power wheel. You don’t want to crank on it you’ll just waste air. Without a moderator she’s loud so I leave the can on all the time. She’s got a bell curve to her shot string because she’s not regulated but that’s the beauty of it . If it doesn’t have a regulator it can’t fail, I found she likes being filled to 2500-2000 and she’ll give you 10 consistent shots . I’m talking less than 24 foot spread. I can stretch it by filling to 2600 and stopping at 1800 but the ES increases but at 35 yards it’s in the same hole. 10 shots doesn’t sound like much but believe me when you add the time for reloads it’s a lot of shots especially for hunting. This is my most reliable gun. I had sold it but bought it back (thank you). I’ve owned it probably 5 years with 0 issues. It’s a look only a mother would love but honestly I don’t mind. I had a Condor SS .25 and Talon SS. I don’t mind they got sold but I’m glad this one is back,
