Huben k1 before and after barrel polish

Ok I went out today and shot 4 groups (full mag 19 shots) at 100 yards from a rest with my 2018 huben k1 in .22 caliber using the .2225 diameter, ~40.8 grain slugs that I swage myself using my Corbin s press. After I got home I disassembled my k1 and polished my barrel using JB non embedding compound then followed up with the JB bore bright. 90 strokes of each type in the 1st 3rd of the barrel starting at the breach, 60 strokes to 2nd 3rd of barrel and 30 for last 3rd. Here are pics of the groups before polishing.

Not particularly great right? Thats why im trying the polish. Tomorrow I will go out and shoot 4 more groups in the same fashion and hope for good results. If I don't get better groups at first, I will probably just shoot a bunch of rounds to lead the barrel and then compare again. I'll report the better groups of the two and also mention if I had to lead the barrel first or not to get them. sorry to keep you in suspense if you're reading this between now and then. If my groups improve i will also polish my .25 huben barrel. Fingers crossed...

Well, my results are disappointing. I am leaning toward saying it made no difference. It was significantly more windy today though, and it was gusting randomly. Here are some groups shot after firing just one mag to check for scope adjustment and velocity.

20221016_161651.jpg

Very disappointing. Some are so bad it's hard to tell which shots are part of which group attempt. So I fired about 200 shots at other stuff to lead the barrel some. The 50 yard accuracy is still pretty good. After leading the barrel I shot these. This first one was with some of my old huben slugs which are 36.6 grains:

20221016_161707.jpg
20221016_161719.jpg
20221016_161700.jpg

So I'm not too happy. Hopefully it just needs more leading of the barrel to see a difference but I fired over 300 shots today. I'd think if the wind was to blame but it was improved overall then what I'd see is more consistent elevation but some variance on the windage part, but they seem as random as before. It does seem like my velocities are more consistent and I think I needed slightly less reg pressure to achieve 925 fps so maybe there is some benefit, idk.

Well I wish I had better findings to report, I'll update this post if the groups get better next time.

Hey a late edit, I posted in a reply below but thought I should add it here too. Here is a group I shot using .2213 flat base AVS slugs at about 880 FPS @ 100 yards. Approaching what I consider acceptable although this was only an 10 shot group not a 19. I also forgot my rest that day and it was freezing cold. I rested the rifle on my arm at the table and tried to hold still as i could, so not bad considering that and how the groups were before. I've ordered a new flat base punch and sizer to modify mine to be similar. I may have to slow them down from 925 to 880ish as well, at least when I'm shooting at 100 yards

Biting own arm off

I have been using duke coon traps to get the raccoons in my yard that have been flipping up the grass. Now, every Raccoon I have trapped has never tried to bite its own arm off in order to break free from the trap. They have been in the trap for many hours while I was sleeping, but they never even think about biting it off. However, when I accidentally trap a squirrel, it bites its own arm off after only about 10 minutes! Why?!

FX impact question

I got a problem with with a 22 caliber magisine please if anyone resolved my issue tell me , So I use my Mk2 22 cal compact , it shoots great , However what is bothering me is my magisines make a rattling noise when in gun and carrying so loud the squirrels hide before I can get in range , any cures for this if it matters I am using JSB KO SLUGS ,WHILE IT MOA @ 100 YDS I got to get them mags not to rattle any ideas or does this bother others ?LOU

Katran Long .22

Bought a used Katran several months ago and when I got the Katran, I was very disappointed with the accuracy.
Untitled-92.jpg

I was looking for 30-32 ft-lb .22 and after seeing all the videos on this pcp, I had high hopes. When I first got the Katran, I was told nothing was done to it since he had it. I tried every pellet I had but nothing would group under an inch at 30 yards. I ran JSB 18's over the chrony and saw the fps was 1030+, and the 25 grains were 900+. I looked up videos on how to adjust the hammer and reg but I couldn't get this thing to shoot pellets or slugs to my expectations. The best I could get was about an inch at 30 yards with the 18.1 grains.
By then I was regretting buying this junk until I saw some tins of pellets I ordered before the pandemic. I remember adding these cheap pellets to the cart just so I can make the free shipping. When I received the pellets, nothing would shoot them until the Katran. Ho!y Sh$t can this Katran shoot these cheap pellets. All three groups are 5 shot groups.
KIMG0788.JPG

The only problem with these pellets is they don't fit in the mag and I have to feed the pellets one at a time using the mag. As you can see the plastic gears are wearing. Not sure how long this mag will last.
Untitled-94.jpg

Another problem I found is the end of the barrel and shroud. There is a gap between the barrel the shroud that could cause misalignment of the moderator. It was fixed with some tape to fill in the gap.

NLA Huma Air Mod50-4/0 Modular Moderator 0.30/0.25 1/2UNFx20

Hello AGN:

Looking to sell an essentially new Huma-Air Mod50-4/0 Modular Moderator in 0.30 / 0.25 Caliber w/ 1/2UNFx20 threads. This mod is the largest one that Huma makes and comes with four sections (1 starter and 3x 40mm extra chambers) so you can decide how many sections you want to use for your application. This is the 0.30 model, which means that it can be used with 0.30 or 0.25 pellets/slugs. I bought this with the intention to use it with my Leshiy 2 but the MOD40 I had already worked well enough so this one never got used other than trying a few shots for comparison purposes; there is no noticeable wear to be found on it anywhere.

Price is firm @ $200 shipped within the continental US.

The ONLY trade interests I have are: Warne 34mm one piece mount in Dark Earth or DonnyFL Tatsu in 0.22 only...

I've got plenty of references here so please feel free to check them on the Member Feedback forum prior to purchasing. Paypal Friends & Family payment is prefered (otherwise, please add 3.5% to cover the fees). Local pickup in the SF Bay Area is available as well.

  • Question
Whats The Quietest PCP You Have Shot?

So I have had a bunch of pcps now some low middle and now high end ones. I have shifted my needs and kind of want the quietest I can get. I have been doing some pest stuff and want it as quiet as can be. I may just be spoiled with my 10fpe dreamtac that I can shoot at anytime because it's that quiet. I have a dreamtac, crown, impact, veteran, and a L2. Even moderated is fine just looking to see what others have found.

PCP conversion kit 😁

Recently picked up a Sig Sauer MCX CO2 rifle. Super fun and accurate, I do like it. So, I'm thinking about getting the Air Venturi hpa conversion kit they have for these, turn it into a PCP so I don't have to drop $25 everyday on 90 gram CO2 cartridges (I shoot a lot).
It seems definitely more cost effective to do that , I'll get the pump and everything for it.my question has to do with the regulated output of the tank. Its a 13 cubic inch 3,000 psi tank, pretty standard I believe.
The regulated output is 1100 psi, I found in research that the co2 output is about 8-850psi.
I was looking at other brands of hpa tanks, there is one specifically that comes with an awesome floating stock, that fits nicely over the bottle, I'm trying to keep the AR look, and not just have a bottle and the little butt stock piece that the kit comes with.
So, the regulated output of this other tank is 850 psi, and apparently you can add/remove shims to change this, but 850 is the max.
So is there that big of a difference between 1100 psi and 850psi? I'm wondering as far as accuracy and power are concerned, would I even notice a difference? Has anybody done this conversion to their CO2 guns?
It seems to me that going with 850psi regulated output using HPA, would be the same as running CO2 , since it's output is about the same.

Basically just want to know if it matters that much, I really want this other stock , and it comes with the tank already,I would just have to get the little adapter and the pump and I'd be ready to go 😁 any help or advice is appreciated guys thank you

Why I think EVERYONE should own a Gamo Urban

Hello all,

Been in this hobby for many years now, tons of enjoyable purchases but no purchase more rewarding than my Gamo Urban. I have owned many rifles including Commander, Concept Lite, Pulsar, Renegade, etc but time and time again the price to performance of the Gamo Urban outshines them all. Today I got done stacking pellets, pellet after pellet, on top of each other at 65 yards with nothing more than run of the mill CPHPs for $6.89/500 at WalMart. Not only did I remove the pellets from the tin and did nothing more but I did not have to wash the pellets, bless them, caress them, and read them a bedtime story nightly for their performance to be acceptable. :)

I've requested that the wonderful furry and feathered creatures of the forest please stop breaking in line and use the number system; they just keep lining up to see how the pellets stack up against them.

If you have not considered the Gamo Urban I recommend you all do so -- install a nice inexpensive scope, pick up an Atlas Bipod clone, and a Yong Heng and call it a day. Nothing is more fun than a good day plinking and even better to do so without breaking the bank at sub-$800.

Hope this helped!

A.R.T barrel versus standard LW barrel

Hey Guys

Daystate came up with their ART barrel rifling profile for their RW Safari and Delta Wolf. Has anyone been able to distinguish the ART barrel improved anything like better accuracy over the barrels Daystate used previously?. When looking at Ekstreme benchrest and fieldtarget comps, the standard RW are well represented among the top.

NLA FWB 65 Price Drop #2

It will cock and fire, BUT to completely cock the pistol, you have to use much more force than normal at the very end of the stroke to get the trigger sear to engage.

Selling as is $399 $350 $325 shipped CONUS

I would trade for an excellent condition Bushnell 3200 with AO, Leupold 3-9X33 EFR ( not a Freedom model ) or a Bushnell 4200 Elite with AO

It has been wiped down with an oil rag, so the finish might look a bit off in the pics.

Opening morning for primitive weapons in GA success

Only cost me half a bag of corn, but got a nice little spike with my WAR .30 and JSB 44gn. The deer down here are small and the shot was at 30 yards. We are allowed to hunt over corn on private property. Back of the head, dropped in his tracks. I don't hunt for trophy's, not my thing. I'm in it purely for the meat and yearling whitetail is the most tender venison imo.

hunting and parallax , what power do you hunt with and is it important on lower power ?

HI so My topic is about hunting with a scope and min parallax . Ok well I am a hunter and to be honest I own a lot of hi power scopes as much a 45x but I find hunting say squirrels and most shots 25 to 50 yards and once in a while a 100 yd shot but more over closer range , heck in woods with leaves on trees and denseness most times you cant even see 30 yards , This being said i do most of my hunting 6x to 8x and if I use say my PM2 5x25 on 20x or so the field of view is too narrow to actually find or track a squirrel , so for me sweet spot is 6x to 8x , now lets dive into Parallax I know what it means and how to adjust for it , but I read so many people having a view on this topic saying I need 10 yard parallax or it is a deal breaker , for me I am fine with a Low powered variable optic even with a fixed parallax of 100 yards like a 1-8 or a 1-10 like a typical AR15 or 3 gun scope for hunting squirrels ,I do not have time to adjust parallax hunting small game , Now if I was shooting in a open field at 20x or shooting steel then yes it is very important , when I see a squirrel I have seconds to aim and shoot , so I find it not really important to me , Now If you have a 5x25 scope on 6x to 8x and move parallax it makes no difference on lower powers ,but say on 20x to 25x it is critical to get a clear picture and have things line up , Now a lot of people target shoot and use hi power optics but to really have a scope go down to say 10 yards who shoots hi power and point blank ranges ? I don't think I ever shot 10 yards unless I was using a handgun , OK lets hear some of your thoughts why is this so important to you and what powers do you use for hunting , and I get it some scopes say for example a dedal stalker 6x parrallax changes on this optic but on a 4-20 or 5x25 or even my 3x18 if you put either on 6x it dont matter on any optic I own , saying this I hunt squirrels alot with a trijicon 1-8 or my vortex 1-10 and they great to hunt with and both fixed parallax . what am I missing ?

FX Dreamline Reg Problem

Just a few days ago I posted that I was having issues with the amp reg on my dreamline. The reg gauge would show the reg dropping pressure as I shot a handful of pellets. I figured it was the amp reg acting up so I tried to replace all the orings but the issue persisted. I figured it was the amp reg so I decided to buy a huma reg and toss it in. I set the reg to 160 bar, however the issue still persists. Now the gauge is reading around 80 bar. At this point I am leaning towards replacing the cheap gauges that come with the gun. What would you guys advise? At this point I am definitely starting to see why some ppl on the forum have such massive gripes with FX. Seems like always a minor issue is always coming up.
