How much has your FX impact POI moved today ????🥴🥴

Well today a record was set, a full 4” to the left at 50!!!yards the point of impact shifted. That’s probably 8” at 100 yards 😳😤😭🤯😢🤬😡

I think I’m going to call this rifle my
FX Impact shift M4”.

If it wasn’t because this rifle shoots so damn accurate ( after I correct the POI ) I would be very disappointed.

This is not a 700mm is a 600 mm.
Tensioner barrel
Carbon fiber sleeve
I just can’t trust this rifle anymore.

I still think it is an amazing rifle but the more I get to know it the more I think is more of a bench rifle and treat it like if its made of glass.

Vertical Shooting with PCPs

I have searched the forums and threads and have not found a thread addressing this issue. I can’t see where or why anyone would encounter this style of shooting outside of pesting or hunting, but I could be limited in my thinking.

During the opening weeks of squirrel season I have been seeing and hearing many squirrels high up in the trees eating acorns, other nuts, and pine cones. Particularly in the pine trees I’ve seen squirrels close 25 yards up (according to the parallax knob on my FFP scope). While situating myself close to the tree trunk I’ve taken up to 3 shots at a squirrel way up there and they don’t move. I’m shooting JSB King 25.39 grain domed Diabolo pellets from an EDgun Lelya 2.0 in .25 caliber. I haven’t seen them flinch. I can’t figure out how I’m supposed to be aiming because I don’t know where my shots are hitting. I’m not sure if pellets are arcing and hitting pine needles or small branches on the way up or what.

While kneeling or standing I’m pretty much resting the rifle but almost on top of my shoulder. This positioning of the but feels awkward. I have shot at steep angles with success, but shooting vertically seems to be a different ballgame. With so many leaves still in the trees I’m sometimes limited to particular angles that I can take where I can see the desired kill zones clearly. I’ve only practiced shooting steep angles at pine cones. I could stand to affix an angle indicator to my scope to give me a better idea of the angles I’m referring too.

My question is, what has worked for some of you to hone your shots at a virtually vertical shooting angle? Is anyone taking these types of shots with success?

NLA WTT- WANT TO SEE WHATS OUT THERE!

Have a .22 avenger. Holds air great. It’s shoots great. Has barrel band and donnyfl extended adapter. No poi shift. I have a shogun that can and mite go with the gun if what I get is as quiet. Have a discovery vt2 4x16x50 with dove tail rings that can go with it as well. And depending on the trade if a different cal have pellets as well as slugs.

Gathering Equipment Questions.

Hello all, I am new to the hobby & anticipating the purchase of an AEA HP SS MAX .357cal. Before I purchase the gun I want to get everything I need in hand to use it. I am asking for some budget friendly options. I know I need something to fill with, should I start with hand pump or get a cheap compressor? I would also like to practice with it in backyard so am thinking I need a suppressor. Any suggestions to help me start off on the right foot are greatly appreciated.

I would stock up now while Pellets are available.

I saw that all the pellets on my wish list at PA were all in stock. They cost almost twice what I used to pay, but at least they are available and in stock. I would grab what you can afford now while they still are. If the war expands, we might see metals like lead unavailable, or a lot more expensive. This is not a prediction on the future, more like an observation from the past.

SOLD Taipan Compact SuperVet FS OR TRADE

Unfortunately sunday I got some bad news about one of my dogs and yesterday I had to say goodbye to her. A real gut punch but it made me realize a few things and Id like to prioritize funds a bit differently so that Peri (my other dog) can go and adventure more so instead of holding onto this while buying a thermal or a larger caliber airgun , I have decided to sell it OR TRADE for a few of the very specific things I had planned on purchasing regardless of this sale.

I will preface the whole ad with a stupid bargain buy the whole setup price.

If you buy it with the US optics ts12x, bipod, hugget, bubble level and eagle vision rings.

$2100.00 You pay for freight , all items are in like new condition and come to $900.00.

PLEASE READ EVERYTHING FOR BOTH OUR TIMES SAKE

The following is pulled from the original ad for this rifle. This is a custom one off rifle built by a very well known member here.

"This rifle is a 1 of one build. The builder claims Moa accuracy out to 100 yards with the right optics and I don’t doubt the claim at all as it’s a LASER at 50. The rifle shoots amazing, cocks like butter and is extremely accurate, powerful, and quiet at 35FPE, but per the builder is capable of up to 70+ FPE, all the way down to 1-2 FPE.

  • Custom valve system that can generate high performance and is darn near indestructible.
  • Custom hammer system made from a tool steel, custom hammer spring, and a really nice HST adjustment knob
  • He did some work to the factory moderator (Delrin bushing insert) that really reduces shot report
  • Custom biathlon cocking lever
  • Lapped the chamber, re-crowned the muzzle chamfering, and full bore polish on the factory barrel."
Everything posted is true.
The chrono graph is to show how consistent it can be when it is shooting pellets at higher than normal velocity, right now I have it set to shoot 18.13 @ 910 fps.

Resized_Screenshot_20220822-173719_FX_Radar.jpeg

The following groups are 55 yard groups, over 10 shots each shooting 18.13 at 910 fps. (if you search my username youll find the thread that also references these groups)

Cashier's Check

I have a tractor listed for sale. The last interested party asked if a Cashier's Check was acceptable payment. I told him I wanted cash and didn't think Cashier's Checks were a secure form of payment. He offered to go to the bank with me and cash the check and wait until the funds were in my hands, LOL. I told him I would contact my bank and question just how secure Cashier's Checks are.

I contacted my Credit Union and asked about Cashier's Checks and was informed that even though they gave me the cash for the check, that they could still come back and hold me responsible if the funds weren't there or were moved before the check cleared. It could take anywhere from 3-90 days for them to come back after me. I asked her about a Postal Money Order and she would not comment on how secure they were.

I called the man back and told him that cash was the only acceptable form of payment. It's not the typical type of scam ran with Cashier's Checks or Money Orders but can be done apparently. YMMV, but I'm not risking an almost 30K tractor. Now to find one of those pens for detecting counterfeit bills.

We need a new Caliber for the new powerful rifles.

Now new generation of rifles can achieve high power and in some cases accuracy at long range beyond 200 yards.

I am of the idea that we need a Caliber designed to shoot so far.

FX rifles and the new Brocock Ghost as well as Daystate Alfa and Delta Wolf could take out the best of them witn a Caliber among. 25 and. 30 Cal: A new . 275 Cal designed to shoot slugs accurately at very long distance.

Just a matter of NSA to decide to make the new Caliber slugs and the barrel makers to take the decisión and make an specific. 275 Cal barrel for shooting slugs.

Many rifles could just swap the new Caliber barrel. 275 Cal to shot slugs as they do now for other comercial calibres.

Now we have the rifles, but need the adequate slug Caliber to mate them.

SOLD .257 Scandalous

.257 Scandalous
28” threaded 1/2x20tpi Lilja 1:14 is excellent. This is capable of holding a 1/4” group c-t-c all day if tethered to reg and in a mechanical rest. You simply can’t have a more sturdy set up.
At 3400-3600psi you’ll get 1080fps with 72 grain RBT slugs.
At 2800-3200psi you’ll see 940-980psi. It’s set up to run at the higher pressures and without my Alkin, or place to shoot 200-400yrds I have absolutely no business owning this anymore.

I used Griffin .2573” but any Corbin swaged slugs are going to be great.

This was built by John Bowman. It’s #025 of this past year.

I’ve sold my big compressors and moved where I no longer have 300 yards out my front door. Only reason I’m selling it.

I can take more/better pictures upon request but it’s perfect. I’ve been around for 15+ years with 100% positive feedback.

Rifle alone is $2300 + shipping & insurance.
As shown with Armasight NV & .357 Emperor $2600 + shipping. Nobody wants the cheap bipod lol. I just used it for pictures but you’ll welcome to it if buying rifle.

Add a 6000psi step down in-line reg that’s in excellent shape from Joe B for $300 + shipping.
I would do entire package for $2950 shipped in CONUS.
I’m not selling the reg, NV, or Emperor before the rifle.
I would throw in a out of date 4500psi tank & fill whip if buyer picks up.

PayPal F&F or G&S add 3%. USPMO, CC or personal check all okay as long as you don’t mind waiting until it clears.
Contact me here via PM or email at [email protected]

Edit: Black block fitted between barrel and tube was 3D printed along with barrel threading and heavy duty band by Precision Rifle Works. It’s not needed as the band is rock solid. It’s more of a trial harmonic thing but it slides right out if desired. IDK what it’s made of but perfect tight fit, no scratching barrel. I honestly never got a chance to mess with that in testing and not that it could get much better lol.

Flag recommendation

Good evening all. I just got back from EBR and I had an amazing time. I ended up shooting 50 and 75 yard bench with my RW .22 hp. Man I must say that is harder than it looks. I was 9 shooters away from qualifying for the finals on my first ever time shooting it. I made some flags out of aluminum arrows and coat hanger but never being to Arizona I quickly realized my arrows were not going into the ground. Now I have some time to save up and get some proper flags what do you recommend? I know you have to play with a couple to see what you like best but I didn’t know if people typically gravitated to one make than the other. Thank you so much.

Is there an alternative device other then Pelletgage? Update...

Is there an alternative device that people use to measure head size other then a pelletgage? I wanted a 22cal gage but it looks like I might be screwed. Ordered one but the manufacturer has gone dark with my money in hand.

Jerry L.

Apparently unknowingly I ordered from a distributor and not the manufacturer of pelletgage. I explain further down the thread but to cut to the chase. I got ahold of the manufacturer who has solved the problem, Thank you.

  • Question
Underlever Underpower

I shoot break barrels but I want to have accuracy benefits of a fixed barrel. (Trust me, I'm a scientist and a statistician and I've studied that topic for many years under controlled conditions. Not trying to start an accuracy debate.) If you disagree, let's agree to disagree so I can get to the real point. I want superior aftermarket barrel options that simply aren't available for breakers but I want the freedom from air pumps or ill just use a powder burner.

Here's the underlever rifles I've been able to find all max out around 880 or lower fps for .22. While these speeds are maybe optimal, in terms of accuracy, it seriously limits the range and knock down power needed for humane hunting. The ground hogs see me 100yds out. I need more than 30-50yds or I can't hit them, regardless of accuracy. I want 50+yds accuracy of a fixed barrel with the power of my break barrels like my Walther Talon Magnum. If fps is too high for accuracy, I'll manage that with heavier pellets. I don't want to manage it with reduced firepower from the underlever.

If the break barrel can achieve hundreds of fps higher using the barrel as a lever, why can't an underlever do it using a dedicated cocking lever?

Impact M3 valve fully open, goes much more than 1.5 turn past marking 4

Hi. Manual says that M3 valve is fully open when it is 1.5 turn from marking 4.
On my .22 M3 Sniper it actually goes more, like 3 or even 4 full turns.
I was tuning my gun for 34 gr H&N slugs and found out that valve 1.5 turn gives me something like 800 fps, but I get max on 4 full turns - 950 fps. It just does not go any further because reaches the shroud.
The gun is stock with no modifications. 1st reg 170, 2nd reg 140 bar, macro 16, micro 5

Is it ok to have Valve that much opened?
At first I had constant shots, but after some 50 shots the speed was dropping by 20-30 fps.

Before the slugs the gun was tuned for JSB monster pellets 25 gr. And the valve was at marking 4. I was pushing JSB pellets at 914 pfs. (1st reg 150, 2nd 85bar) But now when I tried with pellet after playing with slugs I do not get the previous speed, it dropped far below 900fps. I had to open valve much more to get the previous speed, 3 full turns past marking 4.

Why did this happen, did I ruin something?

Thanks for help.

NLA 25 caliber sumatra carbine

Like new, maybe 100 pellets through it for velocity testing.

Comes with 2 mags, a 1/2-20 threaded adapter, Niel Clague moderator, westhunter 4-16x44 30mm scope, and hard case.

Very powerful and loud without the NC on it. Too much for my backyard or hunting needs.

The Steyr Pro X - Semi Auto Airgun - The Greatest Trigger Ever

Hi All... been a minute since I've posted on here. I got the chance to checkout the Steyr Pro X from Airgun Sport (new US Importer), and thought I'd share an article I just wrote...

The Steyr Pro X… It’s quiet, semi-auto, balls out accurate, and incredibly simple Austrian quality airgun from a company with over a 100 years of gun manufacturing under it’s belt… in short, I’m in love! I’ve shot quite a few airguns in my day, including all of the what I’ll call the "tier 1” list. With that context, I can say the trigger on the Steyr is without question the greatest trigger I have ever shot… and the fact that its’ on a semi automatic bullpup further blows my mind! My only concern ahead of receiving it was it being .22, as I’ve become accustomed to shooting larger calibers for the bigger bullies. I think this was more of a me problem vs what a .22 is capable of… and with a big ole bully under it’s belt, the Steyr Pro X in .22 reminded me… with the right shot placement, .22 is more than a capable caliber for everything I shoot. I’ve put about 2,500 rounds through it so far, which has me ready to take you through and unpack why this is a must have in your collection.

Steyr Pro X - Airgun Sport

Barrel / Accuracy:

Steyr makes every piece of this gun in house… including all the custom work on the barrel. Given the pedigree of the parent company… I knew the barrel was going to shoot great, but I was really surprised how well it shot both slugs and pellets with literally zero tuning.

I didn’t have the right pull through cord to clean the barrel… so I literally took it out of the box, loaded some NSA slugs, and pretty much every pellet I could think of. I was going between a bunch of different options, and It was punching dime groups with NSA .216 and .217’s, along with 18gr JSB’s and Hades. Most of the initial shooting was close range of 30 yards, but I can tell at 30 which ammo will have potential at 100+ just by watching the slow-mo tracers. I’m looking at the stability... not so much the group at 30.

Steyr Pro X Shoots Pellets and Slugs - Airgun Sport

so for example… the HN barracuda hunters, the crow magnums, and a few others… they all did fine at short range group wise, but I could tell not to bother taking them long, but the 18gr, Hades, and both the NSA 17.5gr in .216 and .217 were just making one ragged hole after another. I’ve got a bunch more ammo to test, and all the long range stuff… which I’ll get to here soon.

The super impressive part, I was dumping 10 shot groups like that as well as fast as I could pull the trigger. 30 yard, dime’ish size groups while mag dumping. I even slowed it down to double taps to really work on and figure out this trigger, and was able to stack them in the same hole. I had to watch it in slow-motion to confirm! So, a big checkmark in the barrel column… this ones a shooter!

Trigger:

Ok, this gun isn’t cheap, but after shooting one mag you’ll quickly think you got a crazy deal. This is without question the nicest trigger I have ever shot. The giant cherry on top… it’s a semi auto bullpup! Bullpups are notorious for terrible triggers, but not this one.

The first stage is smooth, but different… it's like squeezing a spring… it’s heavy compared to first stages on other triggers, but clean. It almost feels like it’s a safety feature given the semi - auto. It butts up against a firm wall, and then a super light and clean break. You can adjust this if you want, but out of the box is like 8oz.

While just sending a single round down range is amazing, the magic in this trigger is that the gun cycles and is ready for the next shot without completely resetting to the first stage. You only have to do that once… then it’s game on. Triple taps, quads… even a mag dump are totally possible. One other thing to note… while this might seem minor to some, the trigger blade is super comfortable, and for those double and triple taps… that’s key!

Steyr Pro X 2 Stage Trigger - Airgun Sport

Semi - Auto:

Pretty much every semi-auto airgun uses air to cycle the magazine… which can introduce some complexity into the design, and potential for additional maintenance. Steyr’s gets it’s semi-auto action from a super simple magazine that winds like a clock. This mechanism is hidden and self contained within the magazine itself. You wind it up when you load it, and it simply rotates down as you fire.

The net result is an airgun version of having your cake and eating it too… in that you get the benefits of a really simple gun and a semi-auto action without sacrificing accuracy or efficiency. More of how efficient this gun is in a minute… but real quick… here’s how it all works… let’s assume you have shot a mag, and it’s now empty. You simply pull the charging handle and you can now remove the mag. Load the mag, and then slide it back in. You then simple rotate it like a clock. Close the mag door, put it on fire, and mag dump. Rinse and repeat. You can decock the gun to safely store, or just press this mag release button and remove the mag itself.

Quiet:

For 99% of us… how loud the gun is really matters. The appeal of airguns is the ability to enjoy the gun in the comforts of your own backyard. While you’re seeing the industry shift a bit and focus on extreme long range… for 99% of us, that might be fun to watch, but that type of shooting is not what the majority of us has access to even try.

I run an airgun in my yard to shoot 1,000’s of critters in my yard, and occasionally get to shoot long range at farms. With neighbors on all sides, I need it to be quiet. Without a suppressor this gun is 100% not backyard friendly, but with one… it’s not only a backyard friendly gun for pest control, but it’s an all day kinda shooter… which is good, as with this trigger I promise you will be sending 4 when you normally would send 1!

There really isn’t a need for big can either… I have found the best one so far to the be the new Eagle Vision Sigma M4. It’s small and super quiet. The barrels are not threaded, but the gun comes with an adapter made by Steyr. It’s super strong, and keeps things nice and snug. You won’t have any concerns with a 3rd party adapter.

Sigma M4 Silencer on the Steyr Pro X - Airgun Sport

Efficiency:

For reference, I’m shooting Hades around 890fps and 17.5gr NSA slugs at around 800. You fill the gun to 200 bar, and shoot down to about 120. Over that small amount, I’m getting 6 mags, or about 60 shots at full power. The gun is incredibly efficient. I’ve been using the Peazy to fill it, and I think was able to top it off from 120 to 200 bar at least 3 times if I remember right… the point is… the gun is CRAZY efficient!

Steyr Pro X 60+ shots from a 200bar fill - Airgun Sport

Summary:

This gun checks every box for me, but it’s the trigger, simplicity to work on, and insane accuracy that make this worth the price of admission. I’m looking forward to checking out the other guns in the Steyr lineup… which brings me to a fun announcement. I’m going to be giving this gun away as part of the next T-Shirt drop. Make sure to stay connected, as I’ll be dropping the new shirt design here shortly, along with all the details. Thanks again to my friends over at Airgun Sport… they are the sole US importer and retailer of these amazing airguns from Steyr. Got the P-17 sighted in

Well, I was ticked because of my mishap yesterday with my circular saw, so I just setup some 2x8s and three pieces of plywood in the garage to plink at. Tacked the first target up and started sighting in. I'm not really sure what range I should be shooting the P-17, but I started sighting in at about 10' or 11'. With no true backstop in place, I wanted to be certain I didn't shoot up the storage totes behind the wood. LOL! Once I was satisfied I had it pretty well zeroed, I moved back to 17'. That should be pretty close to a 5 meter range. I ended up putting 50 to 60 rounds through it. My last 5 were at a fresh target to see how close I was to being zeroed. I was using a Short Range Sight In target I downloaded off the 'Net and printed out. Of the 5 rounds I fired at the fresh target, I had 4 in the red and one that I'm positive I flinched on. That's a problem I have to work on. I have nerve damage that causes some loss of feeling and strength in my right arm/hand. It also causes a flinch that happens when I try to do tedious stuff. If I get really relaxed, it won't twitch on me, but I know I tensed up on the last shot I fired and I did flinch. So, throw that one round out and I had 4 in the red. Not too bad for this gun and a quickly thrown together type of shooting range in my garage. I definitively have to figure out a better situation to shoot in the garage.

As for the P-17, what a blast! It's a real pleasure shooting that thing. I took some of you guys' suggestions and used a rag to close the thing. I also quickly got into the habit of placing the gun on my thigh when I closed it up. Between those two things, it isn't too awfully bad to load it and cock it. Yes, the trigger seems to be very nice for a $35 gun. I can say that for sure.

I did run into one little glitch and I know how to resolve it. After the first 6 or 8 shots fired, I started having trouble getting the pellet into the barrel. It was as if the skirt was too big. It didn't want to slide in place very easily. I had to really push to get the pellet in. I switched to the pointed pellets and didn't have the same problem. Right now all I have is a cheap sampler pack of Crosman pellets. It has flat, pointed, and hollow points in it. It's not even Premier pellets. I got them given to me with the 1377 I got. I expect if I order some better pellets I won't have the same problem.

But, the gun performed perfectly and I got to spend a little fun time with no cell phones and nobody around to bother me. A nice way to kill a little time on a rainy day!

Have any of you created a zombie?

So I get this certain species of ground bird in my yard that likes to destroy my Bonsai tree's and I eliminate them on the spot. I heard a pair of them out back this morning so I went outside with my little bluetooth speaker and played a few calls and the male came in. I pointed my new FX Impact M3 22 cal Compact at him, aligned my crosshairs, squeezed the trigger, and BAM, hit him dead in the chest with a 15gr Hades! A poof of feathers the size of my fist came off of him upon impact but the little sucker didn't die. He calmly hopped to a lower branch and started singing again. So I hit him again right in the chest with the same result and man, still not dead. I repeated 2 more times with the same result before he finally went to the ground but wasn't dead. This little dude was hopping around on the ground after being hit 4 times in the chest with Hades out of my M3 as was still alive. I walked over to him, he looked me dead in the eye, I looked at him back, put the rifle right up to his head and that was that.
Have any of you dealt with a zombie pest before lol? I got his little girlfriend a couple hours later and 1 shot in the chest was all it took.
