Lever action: reliable or cheap novelty?

I am interested in a reliable, workhorse, PCP in .22 or .25, preferably under $800.

I would very much like a lever action. I am aware of the Seneca Eagle Claw and the Hatsan Vectis but I am concerned that these may be novelty guns that may not last. I would rather go with a bolt action that just keeps working than a cool lever action that gives up on me after a couple of years. I saw a Benjamin Kratos in the classifieds that looked intriguing. Have never used a side lever.

Any advice or warnings? Advantages and disadvantages of the different action styles. Much appreciate any pointers.

Finished target

I just finished a practice target. I needed a easy to transport target to practice the longer range field target. The target is 14” square 1/4” plate. Center hole is 3” So far I made changeable kill size 1 3/4” and 1” the target sets in the angle iron base. When it cools down this evening I will give it a try. It’s too hot right now.

SOLD SOLD - Like new (reduced price)Benjamin Akela - .22 w/ extras

Selling my like new Benjamin Akela .22 I bought last January and put approximately 80 rounds thru it. Shortly thereafter I found a .25 Prophet Performance and the Akela hasn't been touched since I'm only using the .25 caliber for bigger game.. I did buy an extra stock that I had painted black but was never installed. The rifle has no scratches or blemishes and functions flawlessly with no leaks. Its already quiet as is but I'm including a 3D printed moderator that quiets it down even more. It will also come with 2 magazines. I'm asking $375 or best offer with free shipping. PayPal f&f or 3% added for the fee.

SOLD WTS Marauder Mad Dog Bullpup Stock - $275

Up for sale is a Mad Dog Marauder bullpup stock. I had it on a Gen 2 .25, but according to the original owner it started out as a Gen 1 stock, which he put linkages in to fit the Gen 2. Anyhow, it shot just fine on my Gen 2, and I am only parting with it to fund a new toy. Included in the kit are the stock, the scope mount, the linkages, the gauge adapter, and the cheek piece. Full disclosure about the gauge adapter - when I first got it, it leaked, even with Teflon tape. However, I just used my standard gauge without the adapter, and it worked just fine - you gauge just doesn't sit flush with the stock. It in no way interferes with the functioning or looks of the gun, other than the gauge is countersunk a little bit. There is a small scuff on the front of the stock, but other than that, it is in pristine condition. Asking $275 shipped via Paypal F&F, and I am not interested in any trades at the time.
Please PM if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Chris

Pursuit of sub MOA

How many of you have tried to shoot sub MOA out to 100 yards? Success or failure?

For me, it wasn't easy and I am continuing to chase and get more sub MOA results with my FX Impact MK2 shooting the H&N 23gr slugs.

In this video I attempted to do just that. Obviously I failed miserably and got more fails and success. I have done so in the past and I would like to be more consistent and hit more of these tighter groups. However, it was super windy when I did this shoot but no excuses. I just wasn't too great at estimating and allowing for the windage.

Paper punching was boring so I tapped a tin can at 125 and 150 yards just to have some fun.
I ended my day and dropped a few starlings on the way home at another location.

Enjoy.

SOLD WTS Brocock Bantam .22 with Lane Regulator - $625, possibly trades

Selling a very nice Brocock Bantam in .22. Finish is in excellent shape, and it shoots VERY well. It will shoot one-hole groups at 30 yards with Hades pellets moving between 890-905 fps all day long. Included with the package, but NOT installed, is a regulator from Robert Lane. It is set at 135 psi from the factory. I got this gun planning on making it into my workhorse, but then I came across a deal on an Impact I couldn't refuse, so now this one just sits. It's a shame to let such a nice gun just sit in my cabinet, especially when I am eying another gun! So, my loss is your gain. Looking to get $700 shipped and insured for the gun and regulator. I am not interested in splitting the two up at the time. The bipod and scope in the picture are NOT included in the sale, and the trades I am interested in are a Brocock Atomic XR or FX Dreamline compact in .177. I may consider others, but I want something compact and in .177. Asking $625 OBO and I accept Paypal F&F.
Thanks,
Chris

Simple trick to replace 2mm x 1mm AMP reg O-rings

I installed new O-rings in the AMP regulators in my Maverick and found a simple way to make it easier to install those tiny 2mm x 1mm O-rings. I threaded the adjusting screw topside down into the reg body so I had 2 hands free to get the O-ring over the end of the screw. I suppose another idea would be to get a nut with the same threads and make a little fixture to clamp in a vise.

Red Wolf standard owners ???

Kicking around the idea of getting one of these, probably in .177. Sometimes things worm their way into my brain & won't go away until I at least investigate the possibility. But enough about my psychoses.

Most of my shooting is 60 yards or less, and done standing offhand. Do you find you do better/worse/same as with other rifles when shooting offhand? Would think it could be set up well for this, given the adjustability of comb height/cant, buttpad height/cant, & trigger shoe position. But I don't know what I don't know. Bonus points if you have experience with shooting air rifle metallic silhouette.
Wouldn't need the power of the HP version, nor would I invest in a heliboard or programmer- primary responsibility would be sending 10.3 grain pellets at 17-20 fpe, well within reach of factory settings.
Have seen that the HP version is factory set to do well with Beasts at high setting, Monsters at medium, and Jumbo Heavy at low. Does the standard version parallel this with 10.34, 8.44, & 7.87 grain at 18-15-12 fpe? Mostly out of curiosity... doubt I would have use for or stock all three.

Don't be afraid to lay into any shortcomings, or praise any exceptionalism... this is just exploratory. My wallet will thank you if you prevent me from spending that kind of dough on something that doesn't work for me. My soul will thank you if you help me find my nirvana.

What reg pressure should I choose

Hello everyone, I'm obviously new to PCP, I've purchased a Benjamin Akela in. 22. I'm pretty happy with the build quality of the rifle however I would like to install a Lane regulator to improve efficiency and improve effective shot count and trajectory. My question is what pressure ( ft-lbs) should I chose for the reg. I would like to be able to shoot 18 gr pellets at about 875 fps out to 50 yards consistently with a usable shot count of around 75 shots. If I'm dreaming please set me straight, I know this isn't a precision rifle and will be used for hunting and informal target. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

  • Question
To turn a SMALL bottle gun into a BIG bottle gun....

🔸 To turn an air TUBE gun into a BOTTLE gun....
🔸 To turn a SMALL bottle gun into a BIG bottle gun....

➔ For that, we need something like a Bottle-Step-Down Adapter — because bottles/ bigger bottles have a larger diameter and otherwise would not fit under the shroud. 😟

I've seen those adapters for the Avenger, the Prod, and a genius made one for a PP700 once.
There is even an OEM by FX for its Dreamline.

🔷 Retorical questions:
▪ Why are there not more adapters and step-down-adapters available — OEM or aftermarket?

▪ Why do manufacturers mount the bottles so close to the shroud that only small diameter bottles can be used?

🔷 Real question:
Would someone make a step-down adaptor (for the RTI Prophet I Compact Performance)?
How hard can this be? (Yes, I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to engineering, please use fuel sparingly when flaming me, remember the outrageous fuel prices.)

Matthias

The photo shows how the adapter steps down the air reservoir connector in order to allow a large diameter bottle to be mounted, instead of a small diameter air tube (Dreamline).

Testing my 75 fpe .22 impact mk2 at long range today

Mk2 700cc 700mm .22 shooting zan .218 30.5 at 1045 fps with a SD of 5.8

180 on the reg, 3 on power wheel, 3 lines on valve.

Far right shot was gauge wind
Low shot was a big drop below reg pressure

Distance was 105 yards. There's 2 in the top hole then 2 below it.

I do have an ABL setup coming and I think that could change the game for the ATN

Matt also hit a waffle ball at 265 yards with the rifle.

Needless to say I'm proud of what I put together after having my reg oring leak and deciding to completely go through the rifle, and impressed with it thoroughly.

Oh I also got my first ever benchmade edc knife and I'm inlove with it lol just thought I'd share

Best way to zero scope and best means to keep the gun steady w/ buying more stuff...

Hey guys,

I've watched a few videos of zeroing scopes (never done it before) and it sounds like adjusting the turrets to the point of impact is one of the more popular ways. I just got a Hawke Vantage 4x32 AO Mildot scope and am starting to play around with it. It seems one of the pre-reqs too is to have the gun in a stable position so it's not moving around etc. Anyone have ideas on what's laying around the house that I could easily use to stabilize the gun without having to buy gun rests, bipods, clamps, etc? I really just bought the gun for squirrel control in our smaller backyard. I probably wouldn't be shooting more than 10-20 yards max in most cases. Oh, it's a Crosman 1322 btw. I have the stock and just updated to a steel breech. I may put a longer barrel on it at some point. Just want to get the scope sighted in before I start buying more stuff though.
