On the way are lots more shooter interviews and lengthy RMAC Vendor Booth interviews, as well as an EPIC long interview with last year's RMAC winner Keith Gibson, where he spills all the juicy tech-secret & tune beans on his RMAC 2021 winning FX Impact!

Enjoy!!

FOUND WWT ? for longer range optic

I have a benjamin fortitude that is all decked out sitting in a boyd's at one thumbhole stock with crosman LW barrel and custom internals, I have a PP750 that was drop shipped to a tuner before I got it and I also put a 3D printed cheek riser on it as well. I also have a lot of misc pellets from 17-30 cal that I could part with some of those as well. Looking for something to put on a gun to shoot 100 yards plus. Let me know if your interested. I'm also on GTA, same handle. Thanks.

Polished my FX Crown .177 Barrel Bore this morning

Hello everyone,

Finally received all of the required items to do a “polish job” on the bore of my FX Crown .177 cal rifle barrel yesterday. This morning I removed the barrel and did a through cleaning of the bore until nothing but clean patches were coming out. I did make one small adjustment to the process, I divided the barrel into 3 sections rather than 4. This being a 600mm ( 24-inches ) long barrel I felt like 3 sections of 8-inches long would work the best. I’m not sure if it was my imagination, but the center 8-inches sure felt a bit tighter when running the bore mop through it. The bore mop itself was a darker color ( dirtier looking ) than the other two mops so I am guessing more material was removed. If there were any micro imperfections in that section, I’m hoping that the polish work did what it is supposed to do and remove them. Now I cannot wait to do some target shooting and see if there is a definite improvement in the accuracy of this rifle.

Have a great day,
ThomasT

Saying good bye to the Alpha 🐺

After much reluctance I'm sending the alpha 🐺 on its way.

Why? ... I did not buy it to shoot pellets and since daystate does not publish barrel specs for whatever reason, I could not know that it would not shoot slugs well at the distance I wanted, so it left me with no choice. The .25 and .30 cal options shoot slugs, why slow down the twist rate in the .22? The jsb knock outs did well at 50 , after 50 yards they started destabilizing and it was extremely clear. At 100 the groups were 6 inch groups with the occasional lucky strike of two slugs touching on target, wind was non-existent yesterday.

My taipan compact was shooting BETTER with 18.14 pellets than the alpha was with the jsb knock outs (best slug I could find for it) , bust out the pellets and the alpha wolf .22 is a winner... but I don't want to shoot pellets with it.

The rifle is SICK, it looks sick, it is sick to shoot, the fit , finish, and feel is top freaking notch but it won't do what I want. So bye bye.

Which do you prefer? TX 200 or Pro Sport

I took these 6 beautiful ladies out together to get a bit of comparison. Some members name their rifles. Here’s my thought, I used to go to The Hockey Show, it was for retailers, in the 90’s and it was in Montreal. I wasn’t a Bar Fly but we went to Chez Paris, the classiest strip bar on planet. They had at least 30-40 strippers. All gorgeous. I’m naming my Air arms after them.
Wow I didn’t mean t send so early, my mistake, not finished writing.
Here my harem. 725DCAE6-524B-472C-A76E-BC2DA6741A0B.jpeg The only problem I had was my first choice, MK3 .22, the cocking lever was difficult to release, too tight. Is there a remedy for this?
These rifles constantly stack pellets, all of them.
The big downfall for me is on the 200’s loading. F12D0A66-98FC-48F2-BC3A-FAF003CD1B18.jpeg I sit when shooting and found the 200’s slid off my leg twice when the bear trap catches. The Pro Sport doesn’t have this nuisance.
I actually don’t mind cocking the PS, I find they put a little curve at the end of the lever, which fits like a ring, comfortable. D0AE658D-4E10-4E8C-BA87-E1CD7B9B493E.jpeg.
These rifles are all stock, no modification yet.
My choice no doubt would be the Pro Sport.
What’s yours and why?(

Weihrauch Springer Barrel Length Question

I see tons of reviews on HW97K, and HW98 that brag about great accuracy, but the barrel is only 300mm long. (They do make a long version of the 97 with 440mm barrel)... If these reviews are true, why would one want something longer than 300? They have various models with 300, 370, 395, 410, 440, 470 and 500mm barrel length. Sorry for the old-school compare, but all are listed from Krale below..

Tuning  Question: Why tune for speed first, why not accuracy?

AGN'ers!
While my airgun is fairly well tuned now, I am wondering about why the "Tuning Magic" starts with "Pick a speed/FPS." That seems rather arbitrary to me.
Why does it not start with getting good accuracy first? How does one know that a particular pellet will perform it's best at say 930 FPS without shooting it at various speeds in order to find that desired accuracy?
1.) Most advice is "880-920ish FPS is a good range." Good advice, at least that narrows it somewhat.
2.) Some pellets, such as the RD's seem to need a faster speed, at least that has been my experience and much of the advice here.
Between the items above there could be a large disparity between the two.
So, why not shoot for accuracy by making the same adjustments as one would use for a "95% Tune/Knee" after shooting an ample amount to determine accuracy/or not. Then check that speed/FPS. Then adjust the regulator up slightly and adjust it back to the FPS that is the best performance for the pellet? Is it because of the economy of air is best doing it by guessing the FPS first? It just seems to me that finding accuracy then adjusting per the 95% rule might make more sense.
I'm not stating that any method is wrong, just questioning the reasoning for most tunes.
What am I missing?
mike

PS: I understand that there are many sweet spot nodes within about 10-15 FPS or so it seems. Depending upon the barrel whip action/pellet/speed combo. So, it's entirely possible to have accuracy nodes within say 882-897, 897-912, 912-927, etc. Right? I'm guessing that you would need to find each of those nodes and settle on which is best?

American Air Arms Sale at AoA

I'm not affiliated with AoA or AAA but just wanted to post this. Just got an email notification that AoA is having their July 4th sale and are offering $350 off any AAA rifle. SOLD WTS/WTT: Kalibrgun Cricket 2 Tactical 60 Wood .22 $1,100 SHIPPED

I absolutely love this rifle, it is a laser shooting pellets but I am switching to slugs. I bought it from Talon Tunes in late March and put maybe a tin of pellets through it. I moved the cocking lever to the left side and when I switched it back one of the tiny screw heads stripped (see photo), so I am heavily discounting for this very minor issue (a replacement screw can be gotten from Kalibrgun). Price includes UPS ground insured shipping to the lower 48 states but does not include the scope, rings or bipod shown in the photo. I take PayPal F&F and have sold several rifles here in the past. I might consider a similar quality slug shooter in .22 as full or partial trade

Airgun Moderators being Seized by US Customs?

Hi all, brand new here, first post. I ordered a Wolf Airgun mod for my Crosman 2240 in late April this year. Shipped from Poland and went through International USPS arrival in Miami on May 21. Nothing since... My understanding is if customs seizes something they send you a letter explaining what they seizedand why.its contraband along with a form with options that you can persue with Customs. I got nothing to this date, been too quiet. Maybe my tinfoil hat is a bit tight but I'm half expecting the 3 letter boys to show up.

I emailed Wolf and they told me that they were aware of only one of their mods being seized by US Customs since they started about 7 years ago. They also told me the mount for the can I ordered was specific only to the Crosman 2240 and the baffles are 3D printed plastic that they indicated "could be crushed between finger and thumb" so I doubt it would stand up to powder burner use. Thank God I own NO powder burners with threaded muzzles so a sigh of relief there too.

Just asking if anyone has had similar experiences with importied air gun mods being seized during the last year or so and how your situation resolved. Not ashamed to admit I'm a little nervous. Thanks for any feedback.
