  • Question
Any other guns tunable as or a little less than FX airguns

I have been asking these questions because I want to buy a air rifle next summer for hunting. I live in Idaho so plenty of small game. My main targets would be nothing a whole lot bigger than a raccoon. The quarry will mostly be pest birds, grouse, squrriels, and rabbits. My budget is $1500 for the gun but I will go up to $2000 if necessary. Although that is for the gun and upgrades. Any good alternatives to FX guns for tuning, accuracy, power, quietness, lightness, and good shot counts. The range I am going to be shooting is 20-100 yards with a couple in the 125 yard range. The two calibers I am looking at are .22 and .25. the power range is 14-16 fpe all the way to 55-65+ fpe. That high for the .25. More of 45-55 fpe for .22. Also a scope suggestion would be good as well. I mostly shoot with MOA scopes and I want it to have a clean reticle. My scope budget is $500 dollars but if I get the gun for less I am putting a bit more into the scope. The compressor I picked out is the one on Mountain Sport Airguns. The detachable lithium ion batteries.

  • Question
What is some of the best hunting ammo?

This poll is to ask a very hard question to answer. What are some of the best hunting pellets and slugs for airgunning? The best short range pellet, the best mid-range pellet, and the best long range pellet. Also the best slug for medium rang and the best long range slug. Then the best pellet for all the ranges. Short through long range. For this poll all pellets and slugs will be in .25 caliber. The gun would be a Uragan 2 just for the example. The Target animal species will be birds. Pigeons and bigger. All the way up to grouse or a similar sized bird. Lastly no 100% answer for this question.

Cocking trouble with my new Benjamin Akela

Hello. I'm new here. Anyway...

I have a Benjamin Akela. Everything was working until the forward motion of the bolt got stiff. Eventually, I had to put an uncomfortable amount of force to fully lock the bolt in place. My first thought was that there was a problem with the breech o-ring, so I carefully removed the barrel and took a look. The o-ring was secured in place. With the barrel still removed, I watched some videos, and it looks like I can easily access the cocking mechanism by removing a few screws. However, I'm not sure I want to dig in there. What's the best course of action? It's still in warranty, although I'd rather avoid the wait when sending it in.

Thanks.

  • Question
Sideshot scope camera clamp sizes (width)

Does anyone know what the width is on the 30 mm scope clamp for the Side-Shot Phone Mount?

I have a UTG 3-12x44 compact scope (SCP3-UM312AOIEW) mounted onto a Daystate Huntsman Regal XL, attached with a 21mm wide dovetail ring. There are 2-3 mm between the ring and the turrets to allow space for adjustments, and only 11-13mm to attach the clamp.

The OrionCam scope camera clamps are slightly too wide at 15 mm, and EagleVision will not work with this scope. If you have any suggestions to get a side view camera onto this scope I'm all ears! Thank you!

FX CROWN MK2 NORDIC WOLF .25 CAL - WHAT ARE USERS OPINIONS??

Hi everyone.

I have owned a .25 Daystate Redwolf for the last few years and have put it to good use with all types of pellets and slugs and also installed a Helliboard which opened up a whole new dimension of tuning but the time has come to trade this lovely rifle in for a younger model which, after some deliberation, i think i have decided on a .25 FX crown Mk 2 with a GRS Nordic wolf stock. can anyone tell me what there experiences are like with the crown Mk 2? after owning a M3 for the last year i can definitely say that the FX bug has firmly bitten me and although the crown platform doesn't have the complete tun-ability of the impact, i still would like to know what other shooters who have had one a while ( especially .25)think of there crowns. what is the rifles out of the box accuracy like? what is it like with slugs? i am thinking i might get it with the 600mm barrel to keep the length down...

First air rifle questions

Hello,

I had several pellet guns as a kid, starting with a Crosman 2100 and moving on to other inexpensive Crosman break barrel springers. After ~15 years, I'm looking at getting another rifle to do some target shooting on my property.

I know that you get what you pay for and I truly do understand that a $700 rifle is likely worth the investment, but I can't justify spending a ton of money on this so I'm looking at getting the most bang for my buck (as I'm sure everyone is). I'd like to stay under $350.

I've been pointed towards the Weihrauch HW50S as a good option for what I'm looking to do. But I'm also looking at the Flying Dragon XS46U.

It seems like a lot of people buy rifles and then tear them down and clean/tune them for better performance. I'm certainly capable of tinkering, but I'd really prefer to get something that is good to go out of the box. That is part of the appeal to the XS46U, at least in that case Mike has gone through and done the tuning.

I guess I'm looking for something that's durable, doesn't need work out of the box to perform acceptably, and is relatively accurate for the price. I'm only interested in springers or pump rifles (I've also looked at the Crosman 362 and Seneca Dragonfly but not sure about those either). I'm not interested in optics and will only be shooting with open sights.

Sorry this is kind of all over the place and I'm sure stuff like this gets asked all of the time. I have been reading a lot of info on this site and others and trying to look at all of my options.

Thanks.

Help

Hello all, I'll be quick as possible. I started with a stock Leshiy 2 repr chambered in .22 caliber. I decided to step up to .30 caliber barrel. Also added increased reservoir, now this is my problem. I cannot even shot 5 groups at 25-35 yards and its lacking power. I never found a solid tutorial of doing this what would seem simple upgrade. I have found that stock Leshiy 2's in .30 have only one jet. Anyone run into this ???

Daystate programmer problem

Has anyone ever seen this while programming your gun with a daystate programmer? I have to unplug the battery to clear it. I just started and I been working on tuning my gun. It’s never done this before. It only comes up when I plug in the programmer. The programmer will not come on either once this happens. Or while this message is up.

  • Question
weihrauch hw 100 fac unknown spring

Hi All!

I took it apart hw 100 fac 22.cal,mod 2021 50 joule.
Somwhere in a middle of taking the C1 and valve out of the block I've noticed a small but hard spring on the table
It is 10 x 4 mm according to the calipers and 0.66mm wire thickness

I have no idea out of which part did it came out and I can not find it on exploded view that I've found on the net
I have FAC version so maybe I'm looking on a wrong exploded view

It is not from the intake valve, there is a small and weak spring inside and a ball bearing

I'm thankfull for any help and info you have!

Picture attached if could be of any help

Regards, Peter

  • Question
Webley MKVI .177 caliber pellet Comparisons of Models

Does anyone know how the 6 inch and 4 inch models of the Webley MKVI .177 caliber pellet revolvers compare in accuracy and range? One reviewer found the 4 inch barrel model to have slightly greater muzzle velocity but less accuracy when compared to the 6. He seemed to know what he was doing and was even a bit more accurate with the short 2 inch barrel than the 4, but admitted that might be simply because it felt better in his hand. One person commented that greater muzzle velocity can cause turbulence at the muzzel that affects a pellet's attempt at straight flight. If so, is that an odd argument for slower projectiles?

  • Question
Vevor - Missing Cylinder Head Part???

I was given this Vevor
Vevor pcp-air-compressor.jpg
pcp compressor by my neighbor to look at/troubleshoot/fix. He told me it did NOT build pressure; however, I found it didn't even have any air flow. I took it apart and quickly saw that a "part or piece" was missing from the top of the cylinder head. Can anyone tell me what part I need? Tried searching for a parts diagram - found nothing. Unit powers up, fans run and compressor functions, but obvious that air is escaping out of this threaded hold. Any help would be appreciated. I'm new to pcp - on my 3rd day!

  • Question
benjamin - crossman trail np mk.2 pistol sighting problems

Hello all,
I recently (yesterday) bought a benjamin trail NP mk2 pistol hoping to get a glimpse of how 10m pistol target work functions (coming from a bow background),
sadly the thing constantly shoots low, no matter what I do to the setup of the rear sight. (all the way up, until the screw simply comes off). There is no way to bend the rear sight, either, to get some extra range. I have to place my target behind the huge front sight mark, definitely not what I want as I wanted to attempt some 6-oclock targeting.
It appears to shoot a bit higher when I shoot with the extension off (harder to cock), but still low.
Any advice? thank you all in advance.
should I get something else as a cheap alternative to an "olympic" pistol? this is not what I was hoping for.

thank you in advance,
all the best,
Aristides.
