Umarex  NOTOS : SCOPE & FPE QUESTION

Dang thanks so much for the summary. I'll work with that approach. I'd definitely gotten the reg out of whack. I did read the CW / CCW rule on the site I got the new block from, at the moment I'm still with the stock reg that requires degassing, taking the tank apart, reg pulled out & adjust. I had no idea about the 1/16 turn increment, I'd watched some mod videos and 1/8 turn increment was the suggestion but I did 1/4 because I hadn't learned the "less is more" concept with airguns at that point lol. Learning that one the hard way now. But knowing me, I'll probably still want to degas & reduce the reg a little more before then like was suggested by SB237, just for learning purposes. If 1/16 turn is all that it takes for any kind of change, very good chance it's too wide open due to my guessing where it was at prior to disassembly.
The hammer spring, how would you measure the PSI it's set at? I could locate a tool that measures spring tension somewhere if need be, unless there's a different method to find where that PSI is at currently?
Last question for now...before I took it all apart, it was zeroed right around the middle of the elv/wnd turret adjustments' extents...good bit of leeway for adjusting in either direction. Now, it takes the windage being cranked all the way to the right-end stop before it's centered L/R with where boresight is. I took the back rail back off & re-seated it with no luck. Something got off somehow & not sure what's causing it. As an aside, does the POI change with the angle down that you're shooting? I'd have the zero set just right when level with the target around 40yds, but then go up to the second floor from the window in the house....and with crosshairs at the bull, hits about an inch below. I can't see a powder bullet having that kind of discrepancy, unless pellets are something else? Same distance, same POA, higher shot angle, lower POI. I can't figure it out.
I'm learning a ton from everyone on here and once I"m through the beginner screw-ups I know I'll have a much easier time with the fine-tuning & mods...I just hope to build a good foundation of know-how on the basics before I move forward, I'd really like to stick with this hobby, despite its sometimes budget-unfriendly nature HA! Thank you again.

In full transparency: I did not read your whole reply, I need paragraph breaks and spaces to keep track of all those words!

If you destroyed your regulator, FEAR NOT! I have replacements, just PM me and I'll drop one in the mail for you.

Hammer spring are set at the factory, I dont measure them due to the simplicity of just backing it all the way out to flush, shoot, record the speed, turn 1/4 turn and shoot again, repeat until you hit your top speed and back it off 1/4 turn.

Regretfully, this will be right about flush, maybe a full turn in but the gun comes balanced so no gains may be realized and you may just be wasting time and air.

When I ran into this in the beginning, I started porting and adding barrel length, adding bottles and getting rid of the onboard regulator.

Squiper

Great shooting with a gorgeous Crown! My RAW also luvs the NSA 17.5gr .22! And have also anchored many a ground squirrels with them 👍 great little affordable slugs if your guns barrel likes them!
Thanks! And yeah I was using 23gr and 21gr H&N but I can push these a little faster with that tiny barrel and their super accurate.

Taipan  .25 taipan standard

Yes, as far as I know, most Veteran 2's have CZ unchoked barrels.
My Vet two standard does have a cz (550) in .22, but I don't really know at this point if it's choked or not. And as far as a choke goes.. When slugging the .25 700mm Vet 2 barrel.. It does have the slightest of chokes close to the muzzle.

HW/Weihrauch  R7 compression tube scratches

All my ball hones are many years old and IIRC started life @ 240's, tho as they wear there grit aggressiveness becomes less & acting more along the lines of @ 320's.
With using ball hones a bit one direction then the other direction works ideal, as this breaks and smooths high spots or ridges seldom effecting the original bore specification.

Flat stone hones ( Sunnen etc .. ) will make a flat and even surface no doubt, but at the cost of lost material. Being these are NOT engine cylinders with cast iron / chrome rings doing the sealing ... but a flexible piston seal and as such a straight & true surface just is not required.
At the Piston tail wear end area of comp tube all we need is the two surface to not be in conflict on profile ( being near equal radius and smooth ) having then the lubricant used be the medium preventing wear and scuffing from the axial loads & vibration/ shuttering during the shot cycle ( Moly or like lubes )

Awesome Motorhead. Excellent info.

Air Venturi  Compact match pcp pistol?

I believe that gun is a snowpeak pp20

Look at rink steyr lp10 grip .. I see some said with a little sanding they work on the pp20 pistol but it's like 200+ bucks

You could email Wes and see if there's a lefty in these

Yong Heng leaks?

Both black-knob pressure release valves on my YH are opened before start and stop, except dead-head pressure test when I stop under pressure to check for leaks. Starting under pressure can lead to catastrophic damage, stopping, not so much, but best to release pressure before stopping, as well. Don't use set pressure function on my YH, monitor gun gauge till desired pressure, open pressure-release valves, run few seconds after air has vented, turn off compressor. WM

N/A  Choices over choices…

You eliminated your first two choices and it seems like your “power” and longer range needs are met by the Ghost and M4. So the BRK Pathfinder would be a good choice as long as you don’t mount a huge scope on it. The Pathfinder is a seriously capable PCP for its size, heck my Atomic is wickedly capable out to 50 yards on small pests. But take my advice with a heavy grain of salt. As its known that I’m a big fan of the BRKs through performance… A comparo of two of mine.

The pathfinder really scratches an itch… and super happy with the ghost so. I thing but good things to say about brk here!

Other  Large air tanks

You would need the fill set capable of handling 6000 psi too. It also seems dangerous for the gun if you ever mess up. A really big heavy tank seems more like a transportation plus available space in your house question. If you have space for it and a way to get it back and forth to the scuba shop it could work. But I would not have it filled to 6000. I'd stay with 300 bar.

Collectors and the cathartic culdesac.

I accumulate, I do not collect. The things I have are all users. Guns, knives, tools, cars, computers... Everything I own is RTF (Run Till Fail). Some things will get there sooner than others.
My grandfather was an engineer. He liked to tell the story of two diesel generators. One the primary, the second, a backup. The primary was run every day, pretty much 24/7. The backup was started and tested once a month and then shut down. Guess which one wore out first? If you guessed the backup, you'd be correct.

Napier Stock Shield

I use the hand rubbed London oil from SB McWilliams. Easy to use/apply and dries quick.

You could also use BLO or a tung oil mix (tung oil cut with mineral spirits or turpentine) but I've found SBs hand rubbed to be the easiest to use for touching up oiled finishes.

Skout .25 Barrels, And Slug Selection.

Start with the CORBIN slugs built for the guns and sold by SKOUT.
They will be the correct size ... play from there.
Like @Motorhead said, "slugs built for the guns". I doubt 2 tins will be enough. I've shot lots of these slugs.
That high BC .2475" slug was made for the Evo .25 platform.
I thought the Evo guns were setup for this slug out of the box.
Might be good to call Skout.

FX  Impact m3 reg rebuild help

I really can't imagine FX putting them in that tight or with loctite. It could get inside the reg and foul up the machinery. Did you buy it new? Or is it possible a previous owner did this?

I would use a new Allen wrench and a short cheater and try to get it to break free. CCW is correct. As a last resort I'd heat it just a tad and work on it.

The reg only needs to be fully seated very lightly tightened. Like bottle valves, it ain't going nowhere under pressure.
I was using 5.0mm Allen key and it was on tight. I tried forcing it to the point it kinda round off the hex hole. I was like this isn't working, if i tried anymore it will strip it and im fk. So went to the store and bought a new set of Allen key. This one is brand new so i make sure it's seated in the hole and then turn it slowly and it finally broke free. I check the threads, no locktite. It was just on really tight. I bought it used but in good condition. So not sure if previous owner jam it stuck or was like that from factory. Anyhow how I can change the plastic piston into the brass piston.
