Long Shot on a Gray Squirrel

@JimD Thank you. I don’t know if I’d try that shot on a squirrel with a .177. I’ve never shot a PCP in .177, only pneumatic, CO2, and spring-piston airguns. I’d shoot rata and mice like that., but I’d be very hesitant on rabbits and squirrels. If for nothing other than I’m not too familiar with .177 projectiles.

2 bar vs clamp on side shot gopro. Which is better?

...It looks like Eagle Vision copied the Side-shot mounting system....
It may happen other way around :) I have seen the eaglevision in about 2020-21 when they came out with the mount first time.
I don't have it, I cannot dedicate my gopro to a single purpose only replacing the lens that works flawless with my other sports.

Eaglevision barrel tuner

Hi SAZ

Instructions? Nope, "Contact us" Nope. For such a well-made product, customer relations is batting zero.

Air Ability Has become one of my favorite channels. Well thought out and good delivery.

I don't think I should take it upon myself to describe the proper installation sequence, because I just put the thing together and then figured out how I should have done it.

If you screw the adjustment collar several turns forward of the adjustment marks, you will find the holes for the set screws. The slender pins can be used to tighten the main body on to the black adaptor. The big pins are to tighten the caliber adaptor on the front end of the unit.

The front-end adaptor come in two kinds. one has a male thread to attach a moderator. The other kind doesn't. I have the second kind, but Eagle Vision sells a package of adaptors in four calibers for 25 Pounds.

I wonder if the barrel tuner could be used to measure the wavelength of the barrel vibration.

FX  The Boss

Correct.
They replied to me in an email when we found out about the shorter shroud that: "It's hard to find a case for the boss" ... They don't want to make a seperate case fot the fx boss anymore so they just cut a piece of the fx boss so it would fit in one of their standard cases.
That's fully understandable
I had to cut a chunk off the rear end on my Nick-Nolte-mobile for the DeVille convertible to fit into my garage

Air Venturi  Avenge x reg pressure not consistent

I have tried several pellet types. They all do it. And it seems to like the Crossmanns. What is your preferred pellet?
Man I'm shooting off the high port, reg is about 1500 psi And mine likes air arms 10.3. I'm only shooting about 18 1/2 foot pounds

Edgun Leshiy 2 parts and accessories

When Travis does reply to my e-mails ...
I was in the store only 2-3 times, but what I have seen they are fairly busy.... airguns, guns, archery, fishing on the shelfs and always several customers to serve or answer.
In my office business world I have learned, single question in a single email, cannot expect the other side have enough time or dedicated attention to read through long txt, especially if the content is fragmented.
Give them some time, they are great in my view.

Airgun on Centerfire Rifle Competition

Healthservices it's close, it's an Altaros M24 with a LW barrel, but a 1:12 twist. But it is true that a twist of 1:10 would be better.

If nothing goes wrong with the anodizing, so aluminum stocks for M24 should be on the e-shop within 2 weeks, similar to the one in the video, but with a black anodized finish.

Airforce  Next Rifle Purchase Advice - Vulcan 3HP or Texan 257

So I am in the market for a long range rifle. I have a 25 cal for 40-75 yard for fun around the property, but wanted something more powerful and for longer range 100-200 yards at the gun range.

I am leaning to shooting the Altaros 257 in the texan and the Altaros 25 smooth in the Vulcan 25 cal, but the vulcan 30 cal is also an option but from what I read it is an oversized barrel and needs the 2063 slugs to shoot properly and only one or two companies make them.

I am kinda lost in the decision making process. So any insight / help would be appreciated.

Oh and will be shooting either tethered so shot counts, etc. are not an issue.

Mike

FX  FX King 177

i do also like real barrels better one thing they are more rigid and hold poi better , I guess advantage for a liner is reduction of weight and unlimited twist rates can be modified , but lets face it FX builds liners on even their most expensive gun this way , they do it got Profitability its very cheap to run them barrels in automated cnc machines

Umarex  Umarex Gauntlet / Ninja Regulator - Persistent Leak

I have a Gen 1 Umarex Gauntlet with OE Ninja bottle and 3000psi standard regulator. The regulator bonnet was originally a ball type. That was fine for several years, but eventually I started having leakage issues at the ball, and given that it seems this has since been replaced with a pin type bonnet, I found an upgrade kit and installed it. With the bottle fully pressurized and dismounted, the assembly is absolutely pressure stable and free of leaks. All good.

The issue is manifested only when the bottle is screwed completely and securely into the air block. For example, I pressurized the bottle to 2000psi this morning, and it has already leaked to 1500. I changed the two orings at the tip, but it's made no difference. The only thing I've not done is make a wrap of teflon tape on the bonnet threads, but to me this seems like a questionable exercise. The seepage is clearly through the block threads (I can just barely hear the leak), and I'm not sure what else to do. Any experienced suggestions are welcome.

Other  New Member & New To Air Guns: Help!

On this forum I read about "springers" that brand new have to be disassembled and blue loctite put on all the screws. I don't know a thing about taking a HW30s apart. How frequent is this necessary?
I am all ears for tips to help me!
Thanks, Tarheel (Eastern North Carolina)
Welcome aboard, Tarheel:
Excellent choice to start!
I tightened my stock screws then started shooting.
I am almost finished with my 10th tin so just under 5000 rounds, all original HW30S Deluxe .20 cal.
Still hits with accuracy and authority at 75 yards, but its like shooting a cannon. Lol

FX carbon sleeve not tight?!

I originally thought that the barrel was the inner tube for the air tube but sounds like it's a tube with a liner.. seems like it would have been better to use a actual barrel instead of tube and liner since it sounds like it has to be disassemble to even change the liner to a different twist..
guess if they were going to use a liner, seems like it would have made things easier to have a way to not disassemble the air tube and just take off the end cap and some type of retainer on the block.. would have made for easier barrel and caliber changes.. unfortunately it sounds like it is a good gun, but pretty complicated like most FX that I have seen.. not saying that it's bad, just more parts and seals to deal with if you decided to work on it..
I actually prefer to just shoot out of the box.. but sooner or later it's going to need repair..
I have a American tactical liberty nova 22 that I got a o ring kit for because it slowly leaks down over two weeks to regulator pressure.. but I haven't gotten the ambition yet to reseal.. would be nice if AOA who I bought it from serviced them.. so far I haven't found any airgun shop yet.. probably do it myself when it either gets worse or I get out of things that need fixed yesterday..
I got into the airforce Condor and I really like it's simplicity and well there's a company that has a lifetime warranty..

EDgun  Edgun Fenix Questions

First, I'm really looking forward to this airgun arriving here in the USA. A lighter, semi-auto Matador is how I view this new offering. I'd really like to see a wood version offered in the future (stock, forearm, "cheekpiece") or if not possible then a synthetic alternative in brown, like canvas or burlap micarta. Something that would allow the gun to be taken into extreme cold Arctic conditions (-72c) and not just disintegrate like most platics will. That is also an issue with the moderator baffles. It would be nice if these also could be offered in aluminum or titanium or even carbon fiber.
And for the questions that I have. Will all calibers offered have a magazine that will allow using Predator Polymags? Not that I'd use Polymags, I will not, but to have the ability to shoot projectiles up to that length would be a big deal to me. Also, will Ed be making another hunting for Capercaillie/Black-Grouse video, using the Edgun Fenix to show us all how capable it is for such tasks? And finally, when can we expect the .30 caliber variant to be released?

Air Venturi  Avenger Bullpup Plenum?

Just wondering if anyone got one of those Doux or c88 machining type plenums to fit on an original Bullpup or the new Gen 2 Avenger Bullpup (not avenge x).

It's my understanding that the trigger linkages run underneath so the plenum sticking out would not work. Is this true? If so, Is there a work around?

I have an extra doux plenum and if I got a bullpup avenger I'd wanna install it. That's why I'm asking.

WOW! ST7 Targets are 🤯 🇺🇸 💪

I've ordered from Shooting Targets 7 in the past. Their targets remain among the best that I have! They hold up to the abuse and continue to work flawlessly.
I picked up the previous KYL design for NRL matches and I also picked up a full set of 3/8" think AR500 zinc plated steel gongs for my firearms. From 12" dia all the way down to 1". I've used my .308 on those and they sound off nicely and shrug off the shot.
It seems like a lot to spend for targets but, this is one of those, "buy once, cry once" things. You won't have to worry about them bending, breaking, or wearing down over time.
I've used their thickness chart in some of my target reviews because it's so easy to follow and understand.
Great stuff made in the USA!

Air Boss Pellets and FX Crown

I've been playing with an FX Crown MK2, trying to find it's sweet spot in each caliber. .177 was first, with a 500mm barrel. Currently I'm at 112 bar on the reg, #7 on the hammer and 177/22 on xfer port. My first step is chronographing with my new Garmin, (what a sweet tool). Benjamin 10.5gr black box do fairly well, ES of 15 fps with an 835ish fps. Not bad.

The real surprise to me was, I had some 9gr Air Boss pellets that shoot fair in most guns, but nothing spectacular. I've had them forever and just keep them stacked in my stash. So, I thought what the heck, let's try 'em.
Same settings as above, and ES of 8 fps and 869 fps avg. Looks good, but how do they shoot? Well, that's the even more amazing part. Evidently, this liner likes these very well. I got single hole groups at 30 meters with calm wind. Even when the wind kicked up pretty heavy and I doped my shots, I could get ragged holes of no more than 3/8". I misjudged a few, but I had several groups that I got right and they were one ragged hole.

I've never had a gun that shot these really well, so I'm wondering if they shoot well for anyone else, because I've almost never heard an opinions on them.

I got them from Midway and they just threw the tins in a box and shipped it, so I imagined a lot of pellet damage, but they have a foam pad in them and they seemed to arrive fine. Fine enough to shoot very well.

Hand pumps

USA manufacturing and other countries for that matter that have a large manufacturing base.
Just look at Harbor Freight tools for an example of how far the Chinese manufacturer's have come in initial product quality over the past 5 years especially. All must continuously up their game quality wise, while holding down the cost. Very tough to do. China manufacturer's are struggling as well, the low wage workers are not as low wage these days.
The key is fair competition and a level playing field. If the US manufacturer has a UL listing on their product, that listing costs many thousands to get and thousands more to keep. Fake holographic UL clearance stickers are quite cheap.
