As with a scope, a dot sight sight won't make any weapon more or less accurate. When using iron sights one is trying to see/focus on the front sight, rear sight and target. The dot sight eliminates the rear sight becomes a bead on a shotgun - sorta. While you can focus on the front sight with both eyes, the dot is only seen by the master eye (on a pistol). I have not used one on a rifle. My first instinct was to focus on the dot and let the target blur. After much experimentation and listening to others I now focus on the target and let the dot be blurry. Just as your eyes will find the center of the rear sight (using irons), your eye will find the dot.
Also consider the size of the dot compared to the size of a "normal" front sight. It is much smaller, therefore precise. Using dot sights take commitment.
For a change try putting painters tape over the front of the sight. This will force one to use both eyes and use the weak eye to focus on the target.
Here is an interesting article (to me anyway).

An NRA Shooting Sports Journal | Aiming the Red Dot Sight
I have found that many shooters think entirely too much. This is not rocket science, because if it were, I would not be a shooter. Hence, I am not smart enough to shoot badly. When Erich Bujung was the Olympic Pistol Team coach, he always said, “No stinking thinking. The mind is a terrible thing...www.ssusa.org
This did the trick. I replaced the OU7017 and VRG 106. I believe VRG 106 was the problem. HPR 1500 and LPR will now go over 200. Thank you much for the help.Hey Dewy
On the LPR, check the o-rings to see if the might be damaged ...OU 7017 and OU 9008
and check to see if the small plastic piece is whole and properly set VRG 106
Or just wait to talk to Keith or Darryl on Monday
That 244 was a great card. And that was 4 years ago.I'm aware of that but IMHO with pellets that's about as close as they are going to get, unless it's very very calm out and the stars align, well maybe if somehow a higher BC pellet comes about. The new heavy 30 cal pellets have a higher BC than the old MRD's so this helps out.
I once shot a 244 in practice(35 cal plug) with 22 cal MRD's, using my Thomas HPX, and it would have been higher except for one huge flyer. However the next card was IIRC 230-ish, and this is the typical thing that I see that happens with pellets. The next day I couldn't break into 220's because of a medium wind.
It's like a certain US bill.. You have to pass it to see what's in it.. Same with "BW?"I would like to see the BW shoot slugs accurately enough with 17 & 23” barrels. This we do not know yet. We will know when we’ve bought one and figure it our ourselfs![]()
If the # of pellet hoarders trying to unload over in the classifieds is any indication, this hobby is mostly a lot of trial and error. Some airguns are very fussy about the pellets that they shoot well and others are less so.
It's typical to try a couple of brands and weights of pellets to find a good match.
The pellets that don't fit/perform well can be used for casual shooting/plinking or just put aside to try in next airgun. Owning multiple is a common problem here
Most (95%) of my shooting is done with unsorted pellets but I do use sorted pellets for tuning, sighting in and serious target work.
Cheers!
Bro, take decibel readings with a free smartphone app like Decibel X or Decibel Meter. My wife and kids don't listen to me.Update on the BRK moderator... I was shooting in my pretty small backyard, about 15 feet away from some open windows in my house. My wife and kids inside both said they couldn't hear anything.
Success!
