Air Venturi  Leaking Foster fitting

The air tube is way easy to get off. Once degassed, the main tube unscrews by hand easily. Once the tube is off, the front end needs a wrench for about 4 turns then it unscrews by hand. However, nothing has to be removed to get at the Foster fitting. It basically unscrews by had after degassing.

I was real big on putting a couple of drops of silicone oil into the fitting so as to keep the internal O-rings nicely lubed. When I pulled the foster fitting, it was filled with oil. I cleaned out the body of the fitting with a squirt of non-chlorinated brake cleaner, re-lubed the O-rings in the fitting and the tube and put it all back together. At a full 300 bar there is no more bubbling out of the Foster fitting.

As some here suggested, maybe putting oil into the fitting is not such a good idea. Mark me down as agreeing with them.

A couple of generic questions about Dot sights...

As with a scope, a dot sight sight won't make any weapon more or less accurate. When using iron sights one is trying to see/focus on the front sight, rear sight and target. The dot sight eliminates the rear sight becomes a bead on a shotgun - sorta. While you can focus on the front sight with both eyes, the dot is only seen by the master eye (on a pistol). I have not used one on a rifle. My first instinct was to focus on the dot and let the target blur. After much experimentation and listening to others I now focus on the target and let the dot be blurry. Just as your eyes will find the center of the rear sight (using irons), your eye will find the dot.

Also consider the size of the dot compared to the size of a "normal" front sight. It is much smaller, therefore precise. Using dot sights take commitment.

For a change try putting painters tape over the front of the sight. This will force one to use both eyes and use the weak eye to focus on the target.

Here is an interesting article (to me anyway).

Thanks for the link, it's a good read!

Coming from a slingshot/bare bow background where instinctive shooting is normal, and without someone to teach me otherwise, I learned to shoot by focusing on the target. I shoot a rifle (plinking) the same way as I do a shotgun, by mounting the weapon consistently and knowing by feel where it's going to shoot.

Think this red dot is going to work out fine.

Cheers!

Hey Dewy
On the LPR, check the o-rings to see if the might be damaged ...OU 7017 and OU 9008
and check to see if the small plastic piece is whole and properly set VRG 106
Or just wait to talk to Keith or Darryl on Monday
This did the trick. I replaced the OU7017 and VRG 106. I believe VRG 106 was the problem. HPR 1500 and LPR will now go over 200. Thank you much for the help.

Slug Class for 100y Benchrest - Interested?

I'm aware of that but IMHO with pellets that's about as close as they are going to get, unless it's very very calm out and the stars align, well maybe if somehow a higher BC pellet comes about. The new heavy 30 cal pellets have a higher BC than the old MRD's so this helps out.

I once shot a 244 in practice(35 cal plug) with 22 cal MRD's, using my Thomas HPX, and it would have been higher except for one huge flyer. However the next card was IIRC 230-ish, and this is the typical thing that I see that happens with pellets. The next day I couldn't break into 220's because of a medium wind.
That 244 was a great card. And that was 4 years ago.
The current “world record” in a major competition is Thayne Simmons at RMAC finals last year with a 240.

What android app for borescope-endoscope?

Back in time when I received the bore cam somehow happened and I misplaced the little "business card" with QR code. Only found that card after a year plus - just recently - in one other drawer, I was looking for something else :) .
What a life ,,, so many hobbies and not enough time ;)
The "Smart Endoscope" app is much much better.

Fx dreamline classic .177

Pellet and speed? Congratulations on the great results. I've been pleasantly surprised by my P35-177. It shoots H&N Baracuda Match 10.65s at 880fps. On body shots they may take a step or two or more on a side to side shot that doesn't hit bone. But any reasonable shot kills quickly. Not as fast as a 22 or 25 (on body shots) but the difference is small.

Introducing the Daystate Black Wolf!

TBH i would prefer any review / test of a rifles shooting ability to be undertaken at least with the rifle bolted down, so you have 0 shooter in the mix.
I want to see / know what the rifle can do on its own without any shooter interference.

Like alpha precision say.

"5 shot group fit in 20 мм
with the distance of 50 meters
(for airgun barrels)"

That is quite a lot i would expect at least half of that on measly 50 M 20 mm CTC at 50 M, that’s almost where i would call scatter gun
20 mm CTC is what i expect at 100 M shooting the damn pea caliber.

Sorting

Some airguns are very fussy about the pellets that they shoot well and others are less so.

It's typical to try a couple of brands and weights of pellets to find a good match.

The pellets that don't fit/perform well can be used for casual shooting/plinking or just put aside to try in next airgun. Owning multiple is a common problem here 😉

Most (95%) of my shooting is done with unsorted pellets but I do use sorted pellets for tuning, sighting in and serious target work.

Cheers!
If the # of pellet hoarders trying to unload over in the classifieds is any indication, this hobby is mostly a lot of trial and error.

No wonder people are always running across forgotten stashes

Update on the BRK moderator... I was shooting in my pretty small backyard, about 15 feet away from some open windows in my house. My wife and kids inside both said they couldn't hear anything.

Success!
Bro, take decibel readings with a free smartphone app like Decibel X or Decibel Meter. My wife and kids don't listen to me.

N/A  Origin vs Chief 2 Plus S

I bought an Origin about 4 years ago with the pump, it was my first pcp.
I held pressure great until about 3.5 years (out of warranty) and I found out there aren't any seal kits or parts available that I could find.
I emailed Umarex and they wanted me to send it in for replacement until they found out it was out of warranty, so no help.

I'm learning that this is common for Umarex products. No parts or support after the 3 year warranty, at least from Umarex.

I had a basic assortment of o-rings on hand, and though a little too big, I was able to get one to work where the air tube screws on. It's held fine since then.
Shoots pretty good, though not a consistent tack driver. I've dispatched quite a few house sparrows from about 25 yards.
