N/A  New Notos

Doing the research for the best price on the guns we are looking for is not always the best way to go about making the purchase. We gotta do our due diligents. Customer Service should be near or at the top of the list. That's where these forums shine... real experience and knowledge from real people. I can't think of anything worse than receiving a defective gun and being sent to the abyss of contacting the manufacture to solve my problem.. "I didn't buy it from the manufacturer.. I bought it from YOU !! " Send me a brand new functioning gun and an RMA to return this one or send me a full refund including my shipping cost and the afore mentioned RMA. Actually IMO this should be a law. It leaves the door open for legal scamming.

What's your thoughts on the new FX DRS Tactical? Prices and lots of pictures here

I think what he means is that congress seems to be rushing to regulate fire arms based on their appearance, not their actual function .... hence if you make an airgun that looks like a fire arm that the gunban crowd are trying to ban, they will want to ban it too.
SMH that's all we need! I already have to see a magistrate to get my gear back from being in the wrong part of the woods shooting metal targets behind huge Boulder backstop. And when I mean gear I mean my FX lite-tac .25 & very modified nodos. Both outfitted with very expensive scopes. Apparently I was at the wrong part of the woods to be doing what I was doing before I live in the city and there's not much woods around. I'm going to start a new thread about it for my last one got shut down three pages started getting political... They also took a $500 90 ci carbon fiber full bottle my Oakley kitchen sink backpack as well as other things we're talking over $3,000 worth of gear.. I pray I'm stuff back. I do have a hunting permit plus wetland stamp as well as donate 100$ to the wildlife society every year..Apparently the fine is $100 plus confiscation of said pellet guns but hopefully they'll see that I'm not some young kid that was playing around shooting aimlessly in the woods or even trying to hunt there. But still it is tough for us and things are getting tougher. I don't like it either, I just picked up the Karma SLS compact in .25 & I'll tell you, I'm not usually a made in China kinda guy but it's super powerful the shot count is great! Semi works better than caulking it. Accuracy-wise seriously. All I had to do was Mount my Trijcon MRO Red Dot and I was whacking everything I aimed at at 30 ft in my cellar station. I also have a LCS SK 19 in .30 so I know how much fun semi-auto is and then of course it has the (fun button)- full auto... but I mean that's only for showing off... When I learned how to i manipulate the trigger properly that is I can get three round bursts quite accurate out of that Carl Walther barrel and hammerless functionality! But I mean even something fully auto with that much power is still asking for trouble it's really my novelty doesn't leave the house & thank God it didn't leave the house that day I was in the woods with a friend teaching him how to use an air gun for he's never used them before when I was caught my pants down... Not going to blame anyone should have researched the place better. Let's hope they see who I am as a person and how us people are not perfect and are fallible. Thank you for the insight guys.

FX 33.95 grain 25 caliber?

Why don’t you try the JTS 33.80? I tried JSB,FX,AEA,JTS all in 25 cal. 33. some grains, also I like to clean and weight all my pellets ( my choice 😬) however I found so many inconsistencies in weights from (JSB and FX) that wasn’t even funny, long story short I stared using JTS and AEA , they’re very clean and their weight is very consistent, I couldn’t believe it , any way give them a try , by the way I used them in my ( M3-Alpha W- EDGUN)
Be safe.

Crosman the drifter

Oh man all that extra stuff isn't necessary.extratoy these guys like to see how much power , and money they can spend Lol Anyway I have a stock Drifter I purchased Directly from Crossman. I was just at Wally world , and bought some Gamo Rockets for my Drifter. It's a great little gun , and works perfect as is. I figure if I'm pumping something up ten times I'm going to use some kick grass pellets to complement all that work Lol. I'm telling you it's a lot skinnier , and smaller than I thought it would be. It shoots great with open sights , so I left it that way. One thing I learned by trial, and error is removing the shoulder stock is easy just push in the pin , and pull down not back. I love how it shoulders with the stock , but I take it off , and keep it in the fold up pouch it came with. Now I'm not saying anything bad about these power builders it can be fun to spend money on it , and make it more powerful ect ect it's just not necessary. I never had trouble with the pump arm , or anything else. On it. I've only shot the Crossman red fire , but will try the rockets tomorrow.

N/A  Easy way to get regulator in the ballpark for a desired tune?

My P35s and Caiman also have internal regulators. I don't change the tunes often, I have never changed the reg on my P35-22 (too accurate). But when I do I just guess how much to move the regulator. I have to guess again, of course, but I can change the P35 in about q5 minutes so I don't see it as a big deal.

Penetration testing of slugs

The weather is nasty here today so no target shooting for me. I decided instead to test the penetration of a couple slugs my guns like. My Caiman X likes 21 grain H&N slugs and is tuned to shoot them about 920 fps. My P35-177 shoots 12.5 grain Nielsen slugs pretty well. It is tuned to shoot 10.6 grain pellets about 875 fps and shot the 12.5 grain slugs about 800 fps in these tests.

It was raining when I started so I tested penetration in mdf in the garage at point blank range. That was a bit of a mistake because I normally test at 25 yards. The 21 grain went through 3 .25 inch pieces of mdf and the 12.5 grain 2. But I then tried the 21 grain at 25 yards and a 10.6 grain pellet at point blank range. Both tests indicate I get through 1 more layer of mdf with either gun when testing at point blank range. So penetration of the slugs in this hard material is the same as pellets. I will include a picture of a 10.6 grain pellet and a 21 grain slug after going through the mdf. Both are pretty distorted.

I will also include pictures from the side and nose of the projectiles that went into the paper. The 21 grain H&N slugs expanded to about .265 and the 12.5 grain Nielsen did not expand. But the Nielsens left the muzzle at 800 fps and the H&N left at about 920 fps.

I found the 10.6 grain pellets in the 10th and 11th magazine. That's consistent with previous tests or a little less, probably because this test was at 35 yards and prior tests were at 25. The 12.5 grain slugs went through 9, 11, and 12 magazines. The 3 21 grain slugs went through 12 magazines. In prior tests the Caiman shot through 17 to 19 magazines with 18 grain pellets.

I do these tests to see if there is enough penetration for small game. I like to see about 10 magazines or more and got that. I would expect either slug to kill squirrels fine with the 21 grain dropping them a bit quicker.

RTI ARMS SHOP RETURN

Could also be they have some kind of holiday, my friend have a parcel from Mundilar, which was stranded in Spain Friday - weekend - Monday - Tuesday according to tracking number.

Right now in Denmark, schools ASO are on winter break for a week. but not aware if Spain have the same deal going at the same time, that would be amazing

Huben  GK1 V3 .22, self degassing

I have taken so far 550 shots, mix of suitable pellets and slugs. I am still into testing, measuring speeds at the various power settings for my favourite pellets/slugs. I have always payed attention to have the proper pressure for the pellet, usually I shoot from 280 bar down to 150-170 bar, depending on the weight of the pellet/slug. Never did speed shooting. Trigger also adjusted, so I have a defined two stage, not too light. I was shooting last week JSB/Exact Jumbo Heavy/Pellet 18.13 grain, JSB/Exact Jumbo/Pellet 15.89 grain @ 1.25 power setting. 19 shoots each to measure the pressure consumption. I refilled again to 280 bar between strings. As I am doing statistics with all my shooting from the beginning, I overved that with the same power setting I am getting in the mean time more speed. At first tought I had not set the power screw correctly, so I repeated the shots with the same setting. For example, for the JSB 18.13 grain with 1.25 power I had last year at the beginning 217 m/s, now 550 shots later I am getting 228 m/s. Any body out there similar observations? Would be interesting to read from you.

Now to my problem. After refilling to 280 bar I was shooting JSB/Exact Jumbo Monster Redesign/Pellet 25.39 grain @ 1.5 power, which I had done before several times. After two shots, the gun start slowly to loose all pressure. This is what I observed and what I did:

Safety was not engaging, magazine could be turned manually in the correct direction, even when locked. The magazine release arm moved back and forth without resistance. I set the power screw back to zero (fully clockwise in) and removed the magazine plastic side cover to empty the pellets. I had 19 loaded and recovered two, so barrel was clear. Then I put back on the side cover. After opening the back plate I could remove the striker buffer spring. The blue striker buffer could be pushed in until an audible click. Then the safety was working again. Striker buffer I have taken out gently with an allen key, then I could push the spring through the buffer about half way. Then it was possible to re-assemble. During refilling, at approx. 100 bar the magazine indexing "kicked in" (sounded like rattling). Then I filled to 180 bar and dry fired 3x. Pressure still at 180 bar. I know that the striker buffer spring and the striker buffer are in the spare parts set, but the existing parts looked good so I used them again. The only thing I did not do was to put grease back on to the spring, because I had the impression that there was enough inside.

So my question is, why did this happen. I always shoot according to the manual and the good advices from this forum and other experts, like Luchtbuks. Will this happen with GK1 V3 on a regular basis? Is there anything I could do to improve the situation and avoid that this happens again? In the mean time I am back into shooting and the gun performs as it should be. Just wanted to share my experience.

DEAL-Bushnell Engage 2.5-10x44

I hope I have better luck with them as I have 3 because I like them and got great deals on them.I hope the great deals were not because of any problems, they are all new.
I going to mount them all on PCP rifles. Now I going to watch over them like a mother hen and make sure they work right.....
Big Companies buy other companies to get well-known brand names and then the qualitites go down Sucks!!

FX  Need ORing Help With FX Impact MKII AMP Regulator

Rather than rebuild the Amp in my Bobcat I opted to throw money at the problem and bought a Huma Air replacement. Much better, easy to adjust, easy to maintain.
I upgraded both regs on my M3 to HUMA regs. The HUMA Reg 1 for the tank seems more responsive and more consistent. The second HUMA Reg is not much different than the newer brass piston version of the FX Amp Reg 2 for the plenum, except the piston seal/seat (Delrin?) on the newer FX Amp is affixed to the end of the brass piston. If for some reason the seal/seat get damaged or dimpled, and needs replaced, the whole piston has to be replaced. On the HUMA Reg, you have a separate tiny seal/disc that you can flip over to a fresh surface and continue with a new seal. After the first flip to reseal, you can replace just the disc if a new part is needed, and the reg comes with a couple spares. Again, well-thought-out serviceability from HUMA.

DeSoto Airgunner FT (Arcadia, FL) Match Report Feb 9, 2025
Posted by Gary P. for our match director, Ron Z.

unknown.jpg

Hi Field Target Enthusiasts:

Here is a link to our latest match write-up. It was a fun event held on Super Bowl Sunday and included a surprise appearance by an alligator on lane 2.

See all the details here:

http://www.desotoairgunners.net/id346.htm

Some added pics:

Dennis D. was poised to ONCE AGAIN clean the course. Unfortunately, his last lane and last shot, at a very difficult target to range and read the wind, sailed left a bit to a split at 11 O'Clock. Still, 47/48 ain't bad. Especially considering we have 3 targets per lane on both standing and kneeling forced positions. He obviously cleaned both of those.
