Good to know! Thanks for the linkNever whatever you do use that calculator for BC. It is based on the now very old constant Cd reference, which is totally wrong at speeds much above 800 ft/sec. There are plenty of more up-to-date calculators with numerous pellet specific drag laws, such as this one here. https://gpc.fotosoft.co.uk/EasyBC.html
Contact Derrick Wall at Tenacious Airguns. He is working on mine as i type. make sure you use a moderator or something to lengthen the barrel a wee bit so you don't shoot the end of your finger off.Hello all,
I put a .177 carbine barrel on my Ghost .25 hp. I am looking to set it up for <20fpe HFT.
I am planning to shoot JSB 10.3’s at 890-915fps and was hoping you would share your reg and powerwheel sittings.
Also looking for tips to lighten the trigger. I’ve already adjusted the sear, travel and weight but am considering changing springs if you think that will help.
Thank you for all the info I’ve already found on the site. I am looking forward to hearing more about my specific setup.
What is your reg pressure for 177 slug ? and the transferport size 3mm or 4 ? Thank youThe impact MK 2 .177 with 700 mm barrel shooting ZAN 13 grain slugs at 975 is truly awesome!
13 grain zans over 900 fps create a mini explosion in starlings skunks, and even raccoons. I’ve never seen anything like it with a pellet gun.
In the last month, I shot multiple Starlings out to 175, 4 skunks and one raccoon between 30 and 60 yards, and all humane kills. I haven’t measured shot count but it’s probably around 150 per fill. I’m thinking about dialing it back to about 930 fps to increase shot count… as I don’t need the extra power.
I highly recommend the 700mm 177 slug barrel!
I just set both my TM1000’s up today, same scope same dope but different clothes- they perform flawlessly - highly recommend a motorhead tune for maximum performance! Just because it’s a Raw doesn’t mean it has to be heavy. After 7 years of being in airguns, I have finally picked up my first RAW. Crazy because they have always been one of my top choice for looks and quality. I have mostly steered toward adjustability, so haven’t picked one up… until now.
After selling my Thomas earlier in the year because of a crazy job and not being able to shoot FT like I want and seeing no end in sight, I’m hoping that a recent job change is going to give me more free time. The RAW popped up and I knew I couldn’t let another one pass. This thing is a beauty too and has a lovely 2 stage, 3.5oz trigger. I’m going to have fun!
When I saw it was Rick, a well respected member and FT shooter, I knew I had nothing to be worried about. Quick conversation and two days later, I have TM1000 #5, yes #5, in my hands.
I wasn’t planning for this so fast, so now I need a HFT scope. I can’t even shoot it! I know what I’m looking for now.
I can’t wait to share more as the journey continues, but I was so happy, I had to share.

Guessing it’s set up for WRARB Light Varmint class which has 12 fpe limit. Special niche item for sure.If you are referring to the Revere in .177, I would also wonder why it is setup that way. It would make sense if the power was at least 18 ft-lbs or it was in a different stock. Maybe thats the reason why it's in the used section.
Breech seals on a 97 are easy to change out, just reach in with some hemostats and pull it out. Put in a new seal flat side down, rounded side is toward the breach, and use a 10mm socket to seat it down, done.I own both the 97 and the TX.
I know there are going to be die hard 97 defenders.
But after working on my TX vs my 97... no contest. TX was the easiest gun to work on. Changing breech seals, piston seals, main springs, and spring guides were a breeze. Accuracy about the same.
Bottom line if you like the feel of the 97, the easier loading, the no click click click of the bear trap and you are mechanically competent to work on the 97 or can send it to a tuner to be fixed or make changes. Cos you know those breech seal, piston seal and springs don't last forever. Then buy the 97, it is relatively cheaper.
nice rifle, I am glad you were able to add it to your collection. Two years of searching and disappointment I finally got my HW98 .20
Approximately July 20 I saw the 98 at AOA. Almost had a heart attack. I tried buying from them before, no dice, because I live in Canada. They want nothing to do with the paper work involved. So I called my man Wes who is a dealer and can buy from them. For 3 days I get a voice mail he’s busy. I’m watching that gun 3-4 times daily with panic. I posted here “Where’s Wes” and find out he’s in Scotland. Had to change my depends. He’s gone another 1 1/2 weeks.
‘I’m watching that gun daily like I owned it. On Aug 7 a member jccams blew my cover, announcing there’s a 98 at AOA. Luckily I read it shortly after he posted it. Another Depends, major load. What to do? I immediatly called I think Kirk at AOA. Told him of my dilemma and asked if I paid for it Wes would contact them when he gets back. Kirk was A1 and saved the day, awesome customer service!
I have to thank Kirk and Wes at Airgunarcheryfun for making this work.

Great news. Especially if Jim's taste in food is better than his taste in shooting buddies.
