I'm looking to get something compact enough to travel in a backpack and powerful enough for wild pigs. Thoughts? Anyone cast slugs for theirs?
Neither have I which made me wonder what the heck is going on. I’ve heard a lot of comments about how loud it is, bounce might be a factor. It’s not hard to notice the bounce because the recoil goes way up, as does the noise, for just a couple of shots and then it returns to efficient air use.
After resisting the temptation for a couple of weeks I clipped the main spring to shorten it up a bit and then threaded a small section of lighter spring into it to stiffen things up a bit si it can still open the valve up even though it’s shorter.
This has not eliminated hammer bounce but now the balance is happening less often and at lower fill pressure, not up at 4000 psi, down at like 3600 or so.
I have two springs coming which should fit that have thicker wire so I’m going to try making a short stiff spring so the hammer can fly freely.
I can confirm his shot count numbers. And the reliabilityThat is plenty accurate for hunting situations. Realistically, I see HP SS Max as a 50 yard gun for pig size game. Thank you for sharing your shot data!
