Some Dreamline Classic Shot Groups

Just wanted to share some results, good or bad, that I got today. These were 5 shots taken every 5 yards from 10 to 55yards. Pellet is the JSB Exact Heavy Diabolo .177 10.34 gr. My average speed was 867 FPS. Not sure if that’s the best speed for my gun / barrel, its just kind of we’re I settled in at in order to start shooting FT. Now I want o try and see if maybe I should slow it down or speed it up for some better accuracy. I used plant tags with 3x5 card stock waste from work (I’m a printer) every 5 yards from 10 to 55 yards and take five shots each card. There was a light breeze that showed up the further out the shots got. Not all the shots registered on the chrony, figured I post it anyway.

Have you tried the .177 JSB 13.4 Monster RD at 820 fps? Mine is a total tack driver out to 55 yards. Can easily cover 5 shot groups with a dime.

I have not put anything else through this barrel, but I will take your advise and order some up this week. Thanks for taking the time to read this and giving me a tip!

I shoot mostly AA and FX 10.34s which are JSB made clones of your pellet in my Brocock Sniper at 880 fps. It seems to like that velocity the best but your gun could be different. Your groups are perfectly adequate for hunter field target, and remember a light breeze can easily pull that .177 - for instance a 4 mph cross breeze would be about an inch at 55 and a quarter inch at 30. You have some velocity room to experiment with to hit the FT 20 ft lbs limit at 933 fps. I would try going up from your 876 first and see if the groups tighten a little. Even if the groups stay about the same the higher velocity will shoot a little flatter and provide you some hedge against parallax ranging errors.

Thanks for your input. Everything you said makes sense. After tomorrows event I should have 3 weeks or so to do some experimenting before the next event that I plan to go to. Taking the fps up makes sense. I will at some point do this inside at work where there is no wind factor. Since we are talking about wind I did this last night right before dark, and got similar results. I had hoped today would be better. These are pics from last night.

I have those pellets going 930 fps out of my bsa scorpion se and they are very accurate at 52 yds where my main target stand is. I dont have an fx in .177 but with all the other calibers they seem to be as accurate or more so at the higher speeds than other manufacturers that I have. My daystate doesnt shoot as accurately above 900 fps as my crown mk2's and my AA doesnt like as much speed either. The two bsa rifles I have are the only rifles besides the fx rifles that do good at 900+ fps. If it was my rifle I would push it to 900 and see what happens and even get to the limit for ft if thats what you are shooting and see how they do. I just looked at my ballistics app and a 4mph 90 degree cross wind will push this pellet 2" at 55 yds at the speed I shoot them. the .177 gets pushed around easy but it makes for challenging shooting and wind calls.

I shot almost a full tin of the JSB Heavy 13.43 through my Crown today and they seem to be the most accurate of all the pellets that I have tried.

You have a neat setup for your range, looks good.

Thanks, this is a pic of my dope card I made. It contains information from chair gun and actual drop info. I wanna work on that some more before my next match also.

Thanks for your input. That’s great info to take in. From what I gather so far I will be taking the FPS on the 10.34s up for sure. Can’t wait to do it. Had a real good day at my local FT match and now it’s back to work for the week. Hopefully I’ll get something done this week.
