Thoughts on cheap scope rings for airguns?

I needed adjustable rings for my crown to get the scope high enough to clear the mag. Not wanting to spend the money on fx or eaglevision, I bought the offerings from vector. They were $30 on Amazon, so I gave them a try.

After installing and testing them, though they’re not bad rings, you can definitely tell why they’re $30 compared to $90. I feel like if I accidentally bump these, they’ll move and lose my zero. I don’t get that feeling with the fx or eaglevision rings (I own both).
The hardware is also soft, and feels like it twists before getting tight enough. I also needed more windage adjustment which I believe is due to the rings not being perfectly centered.

I have used utg rings (non adjustable) with great luck. If I wasn’t going adjustable, I would for sure go with those.

Maybe I'm a fool or just lucky. I'm not a guy with a lot of disposable cash & when I first got into airguns I tried to save money wherever possible. Don't think I've ever spent more than $17 for a set of rings & they're still being used today with no discernable negative effects. I'm not recommending it, just saying I've been lucky. Your mileage may vary.

not just any cheap rings,Leapers or UTG,yes BKL....some "cheap" rings give you nothing but, grief!
What I mean is=you done "everything"but your gun stills can not shot right....you ask "what should I do?
Will what you should do is to always take the Doubt away first, meaning make sure everything is lined up right, somethings cheap works, but when cheap does not work you are left chasing the problem.

most of them are ok, mainly you got to watch over tightening cheapo rings or they can suffer from deformation 'creep' i call it .. a good ring im really liking albeit not rock bottom priced, is the westhunter dual screw rings, dang nice if you got room for them ..

I'm looking at the UTG POI rings but they are listed as picatinny when my rifle has a weaver/ 11mm dovetail.

I'm guessing dovetail would give more adjustability do to the lack of knotches.

I know a weaver ring should work on a pic rail but limited knotches so limited adjustability

@mr_nom_noms_ I use picatinny and weaver rings on pic rails. At least the packaging on some of the rings read “weaver.” They seem to work. If you have a dovetail rail I suggest using BKL rings. Those things are sturdy budget scope rings for dovetail rails. Takes a little umph to get them set though.

Thnks. What do you mean by umph? They are stiff to lock in place?

@mr_nom_noms_ I mean that at the base of the BKL rings you have to screw the base screws in tight (while off of the rail) to bend the base to conform to your rail. If you don’t do this then the rings will be loose on the rail and won’t hold. Granted I’ve only used them on a Texan that I eventually put a dovetail to picatinny adapter on later. Please don’t take this to be a definite explanation. This is based solely upon my experience with a pair of BKL rings.
