What size bottle can my compressor fill?

Hey guys I’m new to this so please don’t try to make me feel any more dumb than I already do lol. Can anyone tell me how big of bottle I would be able to fill with this style pump?

I just bought this pump and thought about getting a small bottle to throw in my pack when I go hunting if possible.

Cgregg,
We're a pretty nice group, I'd say less than 1% can be stinkers, but Administrators don't go for it. Anyway, welcome, glad you're here. Think those compressors are recommended for guns only so any size bottle you find on a gun should be OK as a "buddy" bottle. My first generation Umarex Gauntlet has a 13 Cubic inch bottle that's designed to be replaceable in the field, but don't think that goes for all guns. Quick-disconnect systems exist, just need to research if available for your gun. Best of Luck, WM

I can't say, as I have no experience with that model. From the size and components I would assume that's mostly for filling airguns, not for filling big bottles.

That said, some small pumps can fill big bottles if you treat them gently. I have a GX pump that I use to fill large SCBA tanks. The key idea is to cycle the pump 1:20 on, 5:00 off (min:sec) to keep the temperature nice and low -- I aim for under 50c on the external surfaces. Most (maybe all) pumps are not designed to be cycled on when their is pressure in the fill line. That said, my GX has been doing it well for almost two years now.

I am considering trying one of these, or making something simular:

or

The one way valve keeps pressure off the compressor side so you can stop the fill, bleed the line, let the compressor cool and then resume the fill without having to mess with constantly opening and closing the valve on the tank. I have a small 90ci Guppy Tank and this should allow me to fill it with my small portable compressor (another variation of what you have). I have spoken to a couple people who have them and they claim they do an excellent job of filling a tank with a small compressor.

I can tell you I snapped the piston shaft on one of these type of compressors by not releasing pressure before restarting it to continue filling my air tank! The motors on these create a lot of torque, and let's face it, they are cheap Chinese machines made with cheap Chinese parts, so you do need to take every precaution you can to keep them running.

Thanks! I have a Hatsan Bullboss .22. I was thinking about t ordering another air tank for it and like you said just swap them but they’re over $100 themselves and I have a regulator in mine so I’d have to regulate it as well. Just researching to figure out the cheapest and easiest way possible for now.

I really like this idea!! Might be just the ticket. I’m not needing a very big bottle just something to carry in a pack to keep topped off so I think the pump will be fine if I use something like this and go slow.

I would say no bigger than 500cc, I have a smaller comparable portable compressor that I use to just fill my rifles and my one rifle has a 700cc tank and it takes forever to top off using it so I only use my scuba tank to fill that one, just remember heat is the deadly enemy of these these Chinese compressors, I have been using my cheap Amazon Chinese portable to top off my airguns for over 2yrs now and still going strong

1 liter is 1000 cc so a 500cc bottle on like a hatsan barrage .. may mostly come down to duty cycle ..

Them box compressor may look at like ones say tuxings and see if there more flexable in max fill rating and all that jazz. This is the main thing that keeps me away from pcp.. the overhead and cost just to shoot it..lol. then like these compressor you hope the one you get dors the jub and you get any long term service for that money or it once again $300 add to cart ..

That compressor is only meant to fill the guns reservoir. There are guns that have interchangeable reservoirs in the field so that might be better for hunting. When hunting with a airgun it's even more important to make every shot count.
I guess my question now is can I just get a gun sized bottle? I can buy another tank for my gun but I just put a regulator in the one on the gun and would have to do that to any additional one I buy. I’d really just like to get a small bottle like these paintball guys use but the largest I can for this pump and just carry it in my pack and keep it topped off. Wasn’t sure if that was more efficient or not.

The Mini Wingman is the smallest tank that I found and it's 100 cubic inches. By comparison the air tank on my Piledriver is 29 cubic inches and is as much as I would want to fill with that compressor without damaging the compressor or wearing it out faster. I personally would look into a compressor that can fill a small bottle like the Yong Hegn if you are trying to spend less. This is just my opinion but I have been looking into tank and compressor setups for two years now. I will end up putting 3 grand into mine when it's all said and done.
