This is what I wanted in a scope

Light weight , Fast sighting, Wanted more power but 12 is doing OK, FFP I really like the FFP scopes .
So I got a Athlon Helos Gen 2 BTR 2x12-42 FFP scope, I got it mounted on my Huben 22 and I have made some pretty fast shots with it my longest was at 60 yards on a sparrow sitting on a power line , I really like the reticle its bad ass in my book, Its like a T and a circle with a dot in it, The dot lines up fast and just pull the trigger,
I wished it was a 2x16 , I am looking to place the same or another scope on my Prophet PP 2 I like it that much. The glass is super nice but the reticle steel's the show,

I agree, way cool reticle and very bright in 2-12x!!

Yep that reticle makes this scope more fun to me. It isn't a BR scope but sure does a lot of other duties well. Especially fast and furious plinking on steel. I haven't shot a critter yet with mine yet but hopefully I will this year.
The darn skunks are going nuts this year and I need to take care of it.

Agree... I have that scope on my .22 Marauder Semi Auto speed gun and its perfect for that application.

@airgunmike56 I was looking at this scope recently and what discouraged me was that I’d read the lens coatings are not compatible with the Pard NV007 night vision add-on. The reticle looks great and like you a little more magnification would be great for that gun. I’d considered mounting it on the same rifle. Good to hear a good report on the scope coupled with a Huben K1.

This scope is really similar to my 3-18X Meopta Optika6 FFP scope...the ultimate hunting/pesting scope in my experience so far. I've looked pretty seriously at this Athlon scope as well as its lighter and smaller but I think I would like it better in SFP. Really only use holdovers at 12X anyway and the reticle could be a lot cleaner and visible at all magnifications if it was SFP.

The SFP Heras 2-12x42 scope might fit someones needs better than the HG2 DMR 2-12. The Heras is lighter weight as well.

Though it doesn't have a thick reticle the reticle is not super thin either. In the MIL version the dots including the center dot are .07 MIL and the crosshair mainline is .03 MIL. The rest of the hashes in the reticle should make it easier to see by making it appear slightly thicker.
This reticle should please a lot of people and those .2 MIL hashes for smaller precision holdoffs are just cool!
A zero stop.
And the windage turret locks.

Mine should arrive in a day or two so I can verify first hand.

I just bought a Maven RS.1 - 2.5-15X44 FFP for hunting/pesting. They had a sale and I couldn't resist. I went with the MOA-2 reticle. The scope weighs 24.5 ozs. I still have an MTC Viper Connect 3x12x32 that I like, but wanted a little better glass for my aging eyes! Plus I will add the Pard NV007s to this for some night work.

I would be a LOT more happy if it was a 2x 18 or even a 2x24 power scope, The big T reticle really is the big ticket for me with my old eyes , Just place that dot on there and shoot, Its pretty fast, But the sparrows are getting smarter, I kid you not.
Did I say I like the reticle, If anyone knows of another scope that has a RETICLE like this that is in the price range and is a 2x18 or a 2x24 power scope Let me know..... Please, I just need the target to be a little more in view past 48 yards,,,

One of my favorite scopes. In the Helos BTR Gen2 line the 4-20x50 and 2-12x42 I think are best bang for buck scopes out there. I think the reticle though would be way too large going to a 18x or 24x max. I used mine on 6-8x most the time out to 80-100yds regularly on birds. But young eyes here.

One of the best, although expensive, scopes with a high magnification and lighter weight is the March 2.5-25 x 52 in ffp.

It all depends what your needs are though. There are lots of decent scopes out there now days. Finding high magnification with weight savings is when it gets more difficult. Most scopes I look at with that range of magnification are 30 to 36oz.

Yep, all depends how much you want to spend to play. Reality is there are several good scopes on the market now days in several price ranges.

Closest scope that I can think of might be it's big cousin the Athlon Midas BTR 4.5-27xx50 SFP...It only focuses down to 30 yards, however. The reticle is very similar and true at 16x...typical Athlon quality all around. it also has illumination

I forgot that you were talking about the Helos not the Heras. I'd be skeptical of a FFP with more than a 6X zoom ratio. The reticle just varies too much in size to be practical

I think it would depend more on how you intend to use it. I just received the Helos 2-12 FFP. The reticle does get small @2x, but at 2x you are likely close range anyway so aim dead on.

I will use it with the IR on when at low magnification where it will be more like a red dot.

But most of my use will be from 6x to 12x. Very clear and bright.

I was shopping for another Argos after I purchased the 4-20. But Camraland had the Helos $100 off!
Then I remembered your comments and bought it immediately. I am very glad I did.

I have always wanted a so-called "upper tier" scope so I got a March 2.5-25x42 with the MTR-5 reticle, a perfect fitting scope for my Daystate Air Wolf .22 Finding the best (ie. closest) magazine clearance is always a guess, so I tried BKL low mount 30mm and the Daystate mag just fits under the scope tube with minimal clearance. If you have a Daystate that uses the older mags, you may want to try these low mount BKL rings. (I could not find these BKL rings in a set, so I ordered two "singles" on Amazon.) As for the crystal clear and bright glass on the March, I really like the MTR-5 reticle. Sounds similar to the OP's Athlon reticle (T with a dot) but with no circle around the dot) . . . The Tru Glo I have on my Crown is the same reticle and I love it.

Would you explain? Do you have a link to that? The Helos 2-12x would be my preferred ratting scope — so that would be a shame if NV would not work on it....
