Review of the Crosman Challenger 2021 .177cal 10-Meter Competition Rifle

Hello @Ranchibi

Thank you, I bought this to shoot 10-meters but I have shot it on my 25-yard range using domed pellets and it is spooky accurate. I am going to take my BUG scope off one of my pistols and try shooing it in my shop at 20-feet. I have the two Big Bang Pellet Traps set up and will shoot some today, it is storming outside so I will stay indoors today.

Hello @Ranchibi

Yes it is and I get over 200 shots on one fill so the manual says. To be truthful I have shoot over 100 rounds and and the gauge shows about half full and it only takes a short time to refill.

Hello everyone,

Just an add on / update to the Crosman Challenger rifle. Today I re-installed the Shoe on the bottom rail and then shot it using my Lyman Bag and it made a huge improvement in stability. Remember the rifle is light weight and not a real wide frame so with the Shoe it does ad a small amount to the weight. But the big improvement I found was how well it fit down in between the top bags and became locked into place. If you plan to shoot this from a bench, I highly recommend using the Shoe. I am attaching just one of the targets that I shot this morning and the Center to Center difference in five shots at five targets had an average of .0323 inches. The dimensions shown on the target are the max outside measurements for five shots.

I am soo drooling over this.

Have you spent much time with the 599? Which do you prefer? I just saw the vid review that was posted, and the T handle cocking reminds me othe 2009 Challenger. I would rather have the side lever.
Good morning @Struckat

Well I wasn't going to post anything about the Daisy 599 because it turned out not to be accurate at all. I tried over 24 different Wadcutter Pellets and over a dozen Domed Pellets and not one would shoot MOA at 10-meters. I contacted Daisy direct and they gave me a return label and I sent it back to them and they sent me a entirely new rifle ( good service from them ) in return. However it was not much better and I contacted Daisy again and they suggested that I contact Champions Choice ( that is where I purchased the rifle ) and simply get a refund. Bottom line is they both stated accuracy problems with the model.

I just do not understand how a company can go to the trouble to build such a beautiful rifle and not go the extra effort to ensure that it is accurate. I am not bashing the company, I am really confused. The 599 was well made, felt great shooting and the stock was beautiful, o_O I simply do not know o_O ??????

Now the Crosman Challenger as I have posted many times is a WINNER, I cannot say enough good things about it. I have shot it almost every day and will again in a few minutes

Someone get him an AirForce Edge to shoot!

I bought the old version of the challenger back around 2010-2012 I think. I was new to PCP and had a FX Royale 400. The rifle came with a leak, and I wast up to it then. I sent it back and abandoned the idea of a 10m. I kick myself for not exchanging it or researching O rings back then. Now I have 10m fun with a Daisy M853 from CMP, but really want a PCP 10m rifle…. And my vision from that long ago.

Thanks for the review. I enjoyed the write up and the video.

That’s some fine shooting there! I’m sure some of my rifles can do that but the nut pulling the trigger won’t be able to!
Hello @qball

The secret is to shoot several thousand targets and finally the odds will be in your favor 🤪 , it just has to happen .

I own a Challenger 2021 and have shot two others. All were what I would call scary accurate. They're probably the best rifle Crosman makes, along withe the Benjamin Marauder. I don't know about the raw triggers, but the Crosman is an almost exact copy of the Theoben trigger and amazingly well done. Remove the lawyer spring and it's one of the best true two stage triggers around. Heck I wish FX would adopt the Crosman trigger!
Everything is top notch about the gun with two very minor gripes. One, the barrel is free floating in the barrel band and sometimes makes a clanking noise when you hit the barrel, easily fixed with electrical tape. Two, the rifle makes a funny Crack when fired, much like Air Arms target rifles do. Again it's not lot just a bark.
The rifle is an absolute dream to shoot, and 10M rifles are so easy to have fun with and this one is much lighter than most so not so tiring.
Of the three I've shot, mine had far and away the best factory target but all three shot fantastic. Mine will make true one hole groups at will all day long and it seems like you never have to fill it. The regulator is fantastic too, I'm getting a fair bit less than 10fps spread over many, many shot, but no way will I do a full shot string, because I have no idea how many hundred shots that would be.

Hello @bchannell

Very well stated (y) and I must agree about how accurate this rifle is. Early this morning I shot mine at 25-yards using the JSB Exact 10.34gr pellet. I shot ten 5-shot groups and all but one were "one-hole" and that kind of accuracy always puts a smile on my face  .
