22 Redesigns vs Knockouts

Today I shot six RD's and five KO's into wet bundled magazines at 30 yards and around 930 fps for each.

KO's penetrated just over an inch and all expanded to between .36-.37 inches.

RD's penetrated just over 1.25 inches and expanded to between .24-.26 inches. Just thought I'd show the results of my simple experiment.

I was getting ready to order some 22 KOs for my new 40 fpe Walther Reign. I'm pushing the 10.03 .177s to 1000 fps and they are little bombs.

I hunt at under 50 yards most of the time. Both have the same fpe. For hunting I'd say the Redesigns are the no-brainer choice for me.
Now I want to do the same thing with my 25 call redesigns and see how they compare expansion wise to the 22's.

I'm mainly using slugs for close 100 yard target shooting. I do use the .177 KOs for chippers though. Most of my hunting is under 50 yards too.

There are too many redesigns to keep track of these days. The term has just become generic.

Yes, and Redesign pellets, not the slugs. Compared to the Knockout slugs though.

It seemed like something was amiss there. But I was also confused by your vague identification of the projectiles so I just moved on.

Either way, dome pellets should not be used for purposes of expansion anyway. The shooter should assume zero expansion when hunting with them. Obviously they mushroomed a bit in this situation when shooting wet magazines, but they will typically not expand at all when hitting flesh. Although they do tend to deform a bit when hitting bone...but again, this cannot be relied on.

Many people start reviews these days just saying they are shooting "redesigns" without giving any other info...it's just become such a generic term. That's all I meant.
