Is it political?

I have a hard time understanding why as an airgun community we can not discuss
manufacture, distribution, sales and legislation of our hobby without it being deemed political content?

Isn't it Naive to ignore this issue?
Especially as a group whose collective voices add to the understanding of the nuances and overall narrative?

Where does our power to improve legislation, like hunting rights, come from if we don't embrace the discussions surrounding existing laws and potential future rules and regulations?

Just a question - not a war.

@cavedweller This organization is where I was directed for that sort of thing.

Staff briefly outlined why they don’t want that type of discussion on the site in the rules. Beyond what’s written I guess inquiring minds would have to ask them. I would deem all else as frivolous speculation.

Yup ... folks tend to find the highest soap box and rant there beliefs.
No one is going to universally agree upon most subjects .... Yet knowing this folks still do the above.

round and round they go like a dog after there own tail .... dizzying quite honestly.

There really is only one "why" that matters - while this may be a "community," the reality is that we are all guests here, and we simply need to abide by the rules of the site owners. They can set the rules however they want, for whatever reason they want . . .
Exactly. As Scott said, political discussions tend to be endless arguments. I value the content of the forums enough to respect the rules. Leadership and political policies are certainly things that need to be discussed, but this isn't the forum for it.

No, we are eyeballs that earn ad revenue. The more peaceful the place is, the more eyeballs come to view the adverts on a regular basis. The more racus the place is, the less eyeballs. Do not mistake the term guest for the term product. We are the product. This is a business, not a Restaurant.

Because people these days have discarded any pretense of civility.

I agree completely that we are the product here, as it is a free site and supported by advertising. But I disagree with your "No" statement. I stand by what I wrote - the only "why" that matters is the rules set for us by the site owners. If somebody does not like those rules they can take them up with the owners or go spend time somewhere else. Even if viewed as "the product" we are still guests that need to abide by the rules. We are not in a position to dictate the rules, business or not.

 To be honest, I don't care. You want to be a guest be a guest.

You do sound like little Mary on the playground telling everybody else to mind the teacher though.

With politics in your face at every turn, this place is a very welcome reprieve. When I stumble across some politics here, it changes the whole mood of this place (for me), and not for the better.
I quit watching the news. The only thing that happens when I watch the news is I get disgusted. Now I watch the Outdoor and Sportsman channels on cable, much better to watch some guy hunting in Africa than to listen to a talking head. I recommend it.

@maxtrouble I’m sure Mike Sullivan would endorse this message.
