New to me 20 cal HW98.

I always wanted a HW98. A friend here sent me one in 20 cal to tune and I immediately loved it. He waited 14 months for it so when I saw a post someone was considering selling one I offered him a fair price for it.

The gentleman was great and pointed out even the most minute defects. He packaged it up beautifully and shipped it within a couple days of getting the check.

It's a 2009 20 caliber HW98. I'm very happy to finally own one.

Beautiful gun, congrats. Tuned internals or factory? Look forward to hearing how it shoots compared to your other HWs. 👍

I'm not sure if it's been tuned. Cocks buttery smooth and has white lithium grease about. I've never seen Weihrauch use white lithium grease before.

There are rumors that the 98s were assembled to a higher standard on a different factory line. I'm not sure if this is true.

The spring and guide look original to me. I already have a custom Vortek kit for it.

Nice, Ron and just your caliber. Keep thinking I need a 98. Then I shoot my 95 and it’s just sooo good. But a 98 in .177 would be something.
177 would be my second choice behind 20. 177 Weihrauchs almost always seem to shoot well. Twenty is a perfect fit for the 95 family powerplant. I already have them in 177, 20 and 22. As much as I like the 20 in this platform, I don't recommend it for the casual user because of ammo availability.

Edit for the target purposes of the 98 I think 177 is probably a better pick than 20. I never really considered a 98 in 20 until I shot one. My choice was always 177 before I shot a 20.
