I'm considering switching to NSA 17.5 gr slugs for my avenger. Would it make sense shooting them as slow as 850 fps? 900? I know from experience that the avenger shoots a lot smoother at a lower power tune. And it gives more shots per fill.

Oh it will let you know how fast/slow or if it likes them at all... My dreamline shoots the .2175, 17.5gr slugs great between 850-860fps. Nothing less nothing more... It took a while to find the tune.

I checked and Hard Air Magazine has them on their BC chart. They measured a BC of .057 at 929 fps muzzle velocity.

I have tested Nielsen 17.5 grains in my modded Avenger. Havent spent a ton of time dialing them in but I get minute of golfball at 55yards at about ~1020fps. I think they would be most excellent if I tuned them a bit. They hit pretty hard in a variety of my 22cals.

Do the 17.5's shoot well in your avenger in the first place? I've never been able to group them in anything. I wouldn't worry about the speed. The gun will tell you if it likes them. The 20.2, 21, or 23gr. slugs might perform better.

I have never tried them but I know one guy in a review said the .2165 worked very well in his avenger. Which size did you have?
