Rain day, you got to like it. Gives me much more shooting time. Today I pulled out the .20 cal. rifles.
IMG_6790.jpeg
R-L HW30, HW50, HW90, HW95, R9, HW97 and HW98. Hard to believe I was one of those guys that said, no choice of pellet, had to find and no better. Well if I was an Egyptian king and they were going to put me in my pyramid to rest. All my .20 cal. rifles would be in there with me. And a few tins of JSB’s.
The 30 right from the first shot was flawless at 30 yds. Might have 150 rounds through this gun and already promising.
IMG_6791.jpeg
Next up the HW50 and it took off just like the 30. Little more juice. Such a near perfect gun. Begging for a challenge.
IMG_6792.jpeg
This next gun is exceptional. A HW90. Am totally blown away shooting this gun. What a treat. Absolutely in a league of its own. Ever since I turned from 24 bar to 18 bar. This is the real deal and it means business. One of these rain days I’ll adjust to different bars and crony. This gun has the best record for cutting a can in half, 33 rounds of my rifles.
IMG_6793.jpeg
This next one is possibly one of the best hunting guns available, HW95. Just got recently at AOA. Keeper. No complaints, easy to operate and accurate.
IMG_6794.jpeg
This next one was my first .20 cal. and it easily convinced me I made the right decision. An identical twin to the 95, a R9. Love shooting the rifle.
IMG_6795.jpeg
Now this HW97 is insane accurate to shoot. It’s the only gun with a Vortek spring, nite and day diff. Once I got this rifle I was convinced of .20 cal. I have all 4cal. of the 97 and this one steals the show. Great gun.
IMG_6798.jpeg
This 98 I just got and it behaved like a really spoiled kid. Lead was flying everywhere. Shot for 3 days and breaking in nicely. Going to be a keeper. Looking forward to putting sprig kits in all these.
IMG_6799.jpeg
One thing that I did notice that the pellets in all the .20 cal. we’re very tight fitting. The 98 I have to push in with the back of my thumb nail and I mean push.
Are all .20 cal. like that?
None of my other cal. are any where near that tight.
The only rounds I have are JSB 13.73 and H&N Baracudas. This week I have tins held at AGS of 15.89 .20, finally. This is an amazing caliber. Crow

Yes Crow,
My (3) .20 cal's. all fit pretty snug with JSB 13.73's. I think you'll find the lighter JSB's the best:).
I also have a .20 HW98 barrel which I may put on my HW80SLK .... that would be (4) HW's in .20 cal. ;)

Great Post. If you get time or desire, I would love to see HW30/177 vs HW30/20 with your commentary.
Hey TX,
IMHO, the .20 cal. is perfect in a HW80/HW90 ... not the HW30 or HW50. Maybe lighter H&N's would be OK in the HW50S.
The JSB 13.73 seems to really like going about 780/800+ fps which the highest powered (HW) springers can provide(y).
The HW95/R9/R10 can get to about 735/750 fps which is touching the ideal.

I've always been a fan of .20 caliber.....especially in the R1 platform. Here's a sneak preview of 2 that I recently won at auction. Not the greatest pictures, but I will be posting about them soon as I get my hands on them.
Crow...amazing collection of 20s!!! I enjoy reading your posts. Keep it up!

Thats a beautiful collection of .20's.
Are .20's available? I'm not seeing them at the moment.
Thanks. AOA has a 30 and I saw a 90 last nite, can’t remember where, might have been used. Crow
wonderful collection of .20's very interested in the HW90 tests at lower bar . 9 FPE and 11 FPE hopefully .
Thanks Stan. You will be the first to know. I’m curious as well. Crow

Thanks TRXMike, I can do that, can’t promise when. I’ve been leaving the 30’s idle, I’m saving them for when the other guns get too difficult to operate for this old body. Crow
Beautiful collection of rifles. I always liked the twenty caliber concept. I've owned a 20 cal RX1 and still own a 20 cal R9 and HW98. I've always had my best luck with 13.73 JSBs and 11.42 FTTs. It'd be nice to have more than four pellets to choose from but at least one of those two always work.
Thanks. I haven’t had a chance to get any FTT’s. Only have the two and the 15.89‘s coming. Crow

Thanks for replying. All the .20 cal. are snug. The 98 almost seems like it’s going to jam, I’m pushing it so hard. Crow

I find the 30 and 50 deadly accurate. They’re not power houses, but dead on the money. I plink, so perfect for me. Crow
Very nice collection! Try the H&N Field Target Trophy 11.42 or the Baracuda 13.58. They are great pellets and I get excellent accuracy in my HW97 and HW95. The tins have a screw on lid.👍
Thanks. I have to get the FTT’s, got the Baracuda’s. Crow

no , i meant how do do you do it ? i can only post one at a time ? your post would take me 8 postings not one .
Odd. No issues for me posting multiple pics.. but then tom said he could not post his targets/files .. of course i do edit file size like a picture from mb to kb for ease of doing so . Then my several pictures equal one un edited camera pic..

Crow..

Holly Cow! The HW90 is 3rd from the right, you say? It's taller than all the rest, 45 inches. That's what I'm about to received in shipment here soon, ordered from Airguns of Arizona and also in .20 cal. That thing's a monster but it is what I wanted and the gas ram too. Can't wait. They are mounting a scope and will have it zeroed in for my at 20 yards. I told them that was perfect.

Love you collection, by the way. Cheers!
