HW/Weihrauch Too good to be true

From what I read, Theoben was the sole manufacturer of the Crow Magnum along with a few other classics before they sold the company in 2002, I believe? I bought my Crow Magnum 20 cal back in 1996 out of the Beeman Catalog. Also given as one of their models is the HW90. I'm scratching my head on that one. ??
The HW90 uses a built under license Theoben gas piston design. My RX1 which is a Beeman rebranded HW90 had THEOBEN stamped on the right side of the breech. They didn't try to hide the borrowed technology.

Beeman started their gas ram gun as the RX. The center part of the ram was aluminum. I had bought one in .177 shortly after they came out. My ram developed a leak so I had called Beeman about sending it in for a warranty repair. They offered to upgrade free to RX1 specs which included replacing the aluminum parts with steel if I would pay for a Supertune while they had the rifle, so I did. I got back a rifle upgraded to RX1, filled with nitrogen, cocking easier, shooting around 50 fps slower but much more accurate than it was originally. They progressed from RX to RX1 to RX2 designation as they changed things on the guns.

How's your scope holding up with that HW90 while shooting 20 cal? I'll be getting mine soon. Just got word from Airguns of Arizona that my HW90 will be shipping soon. I asked about mounting the scope and they said it will be mounted and zeroed in at 20 yards. I said, that's perfect. Anyway, the 20 caliber is so underrated I can't believe it. To me, it's the perfect round as far as I'm concerned but right now, my main concern is the $500 scope that's being fitted to the gun and Is it going to hold up. I don't know one scope from another so I allowed them to make the choice. My only requirement is that I wanted 42 aperture. As for the choice of caliber for this gun, all I can say is how well my Crow Magnum performed with a .20 cal pellet. I've got the EXACT 13.73 gr from JSB waiting to be tested in this new gun. The wait is driving me nuts.....

I’ve had no problem with either the .20 or the .25. I have an Element on one and an Air Max on the other. Both springer rated. No problem so far. Factory settings may be harder on scope.
‘Of all my rifles the 90 .20 has a personal best on range. Crow

Yea, I do need to get the bar gauge and pump. It would be good to know how many bars it was pumped up to.

Ha, that's funny. The Beeman Crow Magnum I once owned was said to have a 60 pound cock, which became the joke of my shop, telling my friends at work about it. I don't know really know. That's the only gun I can relate to in regard to the cocking effort. But we will see soon and I will certainly give a report about it. Leaving it high, if it causes problems with shooting accuracy, that's a whole other subject. Of course, I'm older now. will I be able to take the punishment..... ????? Don't you just love it!

Hey, by the way, I love the collection you have that you showed in another post. All those HW's are beautiful. The HW90 will be my first pellet rifle in 20 years now, since my Crow Magnum which is long gone. I'm truly excited about the 90. I have no patience. Anyway, I'm all ready with stuff, like pellets and I recently got a pellet seating tool I bought off of EBay. I used a pellet seating tool for my Crow Magnum. It was something suggested to me at a Gun Shop where I bought the CM. It is said to help maintain accuracy by seating the pellet in the breach opening, making it square and even. Each time I use it I could feel the pellet pop into place in the breach opening. Mine has a rawhide string tied to the the back end of it so I can hand it around my neck. Got a pellet pouch to that hangs on my belt. Grab a pellet, stick it in the breach then seat it in. It's how I shot my CM. Those were the days and I'm looking forward to duplicate that CM experience including the hard cocking... ha ha ha.....
