It's been a few days now. First thing I will say is, wow, is this gun hard to cock and it weighs a ton. I'm OK with the cocking for I've been use to the Crow Magnum and I have the technique down pat. Spent a lot of shooting time and pellets zeroing in the scope at 30 yards. JSB Match DIABOLO EXACT .20 cal, 13.73 gr. These pellets are shooting just fine with I'm sure is at max pressure. I recently discovered that the scope mounts were not torqued to specification for the two mounts so I torqued than myself, 55 inch pounds. That resulted in throwing off my zero by and inch both elevation and windage. Got it back to zero but my elevation is nearly maxed out on the scope. Yep, barrel droop no doubt. Don't they make mounts to compensate for the droop? I have no idea the velocity but from the impacts and that the pellets are punching through 3/4" plywood give me a clue. Fortunate that these pellets are perfect. Good thing to because I had already bought 5 cans. What a super gun this is. Tired of shooting paper. No to destroy some fun targets.....

Another AGN member, who also was shooting the same JSB's, mentioned reducing the power (lowering pressure of Gas Piston) completely changed the gun for the better..... this certainly would also make cocking easier.

Yea, I think I know who you're talking about here on the forum with us. Nice collection he has including his HW90. I'm just getting started. I still need to get the gauge and pump in order to get the bars down to 18 or 20. I'm just so happy that the JSB's are shooting as well as they are at that weight. I have to bench this gun to assure a decent group. I'm a terrible shooter otherwise. Believe it or not, because I have no equipment for solid benching, I use my large plastic trashcan and put an old couch cushion on top. The gun sinks in and holds quite steady. This is the only way I can get a grouping to know how well it's shooting. 30 yards, my groups are averaging 1/2 inch. For me, that's totally acceptable. Thankfully, JSB has an abundant supply of .20. I was surprised to learn that it's no longer commonly stocked and few manufacturers of air rifles offer a .20 caliber as a selection. In my Beeman Crow Magnum days about 20 years ago, Crossman Premier in .20 cal was available. That was all I shot out of my Crow. Nothing was better and my Crow Magnum stayed at max pressure. I miss that gun but my HW90 is now brining back memories and all the pleasures I had with the Crow Magnum. I was such a fool to sell it.Hey Russ,

Why the HW90 Gasser and not a springer? Well, my Crow Magnum is the reason. It was such a beautiful accurate and powerful shooter. My HW90 has not let me down however, I think the 90 is a little heavier than my Crow but I was a bit younger then to. Cocking was just as hard. That I do remember.
As to your velocity question which I missed: I wish I knew but I have no idea. I have no equipment to measure muzzle velocity. Would anyone have an idea?

I think the HW90 is the closest airgun in today's market to the Beeman Crow Magnum (aka Theoben Eliminator).

The Crow Magnum was a Theoben original branded by Beeman. Shooting the HW90 has confirmed that impression. I'm out shooting right now tonight. Love shooting at night.

Congratulations on your HW90 20 cal. I have the. HW90 22 love it I let the pressure down to 19 bar it shoots the 16 gr Diablo field average 777fps at around 21ftlbs and the 18.52HN Baracuda Hunter extreme 701 fps at around 20 ftlbs You’ll have to pick croskys brain on his HW90 20 I think he’s running 18 bar.

Mine has the RWS 1 piece drupe compensator Can’t use a short scope . It’s kind of a long mount

Given the weight of the rifle, I use either aperture sights or smaller scopes. The Hawke airmax 2-7X32 is one of my favorite cheap scopes but it is too "close coupled" in eyepiece to objective bell distance to work with the one piece adjustable or droop compensated mounts. The HW90 .22 that I scoped has about 18-20 MOA droop. FYI two pieces of film negative gives me about 10MOA correction. No, I don't like shims, but I do like optically centered scopes. ymmv

BKL makes the 260 droop mount that works with Hawke 2-7x32. I have it on my HW30's, HW50 and AA PS. Great setup.

Why spend $60 on barrel droop mounts when you can bend the barrel slightly ..... and get a less expensive mount.
With all that's spent on airgun essentials - you can't overspending on everything.

I would recommend a 1 piece though.

Thanks Maxtrouble, that is exactly what I'm looking for and yes, the 4 inch mount is well within the length of my scope. I'll check out BLK's web site for that mount. I hope they have it for 30mm scope barrels.

As for my HW90 in question: It is new, not used. I purchased it from Airguns of Arizona along with a $500 scope. They assured me the scope will hold up to airgun use. I only really worry about scope creep.
Been shooting every night since I got it. Last night, first time testing to see what it can do at 50 yards. Scope zero is set for 30 yards. Starting out with a paper target which was just a piece of printer paper and a quarter size dot I drew with a magic marker, 1/3 the way down from the top. I aimed directly at the dot to see how much drop there would be at 50. 7 shots hit an average drop of 1.5 inches and a center width of one about inch for roughly a quarter size group. I thought that was fantastic.
OK super, enough with paper targets. I then placed a small plastic white asperin bottle on top of a stool. Hold over aim was right at the edge at the top of the 3" bottle. pellet hit just below center and a hair to the right of center. It was amazing that I hit it at all at that distance. Had my scop up to max mag or 16X. Well lit with a led light so it was in clear in view. No way I could make such a shot without benching. These old bones just won't give me a steady shot. I'm pretty sure I'll be out tonight making more long distance shots at something. My next challenge will be a small prescription pill container, one inch in width at 50 yards. This is way more fun than hitting paper just to check your scop's zero or see how well it groups. I'm very surprised it's shooting this well without a pressure reduction. IDN, maybe it's the .20 cal pellets at the weight of 13.73, who knows? I don't intend to try a bunch of different pellets now. Hoppy with these JSBs. I'm also very surprised that the drop at 50 yards was only 1.5"

I will need the BLK 360 because I have a 30mm tube. Is this made specifically for barrel droop?
Question: Should I get the BLK 388 the adjustable? Not sure what that means? Is it for droop or something else not related?
