N/A Best of the cheap springers?

I have Tony Leach tuned TX200 MK1, HW97 with a Vortek kit and a HW50 that l'm waiting on a new barrel, stuck in customs. This gun has been a night mare. Should have sent it back to AOA before warranty ran out. Which cheap break barrel, not over 200.00, is a decent shooter. The only kit l see at Vortec is the Ruger air hawk. Need something l can adjust trigger or put an after market in. Would like something comparable to the HW50 inside and around 12 foot pounds. Just a project gun and possible 30 yard squirrel gun. Thanks, Don

Best cheep springers IMHO are the Hatsan edge. The ones with a spring. I own one in both .22 and .25 have had them for 5 years. 1000's of rounds through both. They are surprisingly accurate and both shoot at or above stated fps. Best $100 I ever spent. $50 each.

They are my backdoor guns. Always out and ready.

Under $200 is pushing it a bit. AoA has the BSA Meteor Super for $299 right now. The trigger is pretty meh (Gamo CAT trigger I believe) but the gun is fairly accurate. It is basically a scope only gun though. It has iron sights but the comb is too high to use them. The gun does shoulder VERY well though for scoped use. Its up there with the 50S and Walther Terrus in my opinion.

Aside from that, the Cometa 400 is a hair over budget but lopping a couple coils off will bring you down to 12fpe and it shoots very well there. The trigger is adjustable, and while a bit gritty feeling, is very consistent. Also they are incredibly easy to work on which is a nice bonus.

I've been looking for an inexpensive springer to tinker with as well. It hasn't arrived yet, but I ordered a Diana 240 Classic from PA for $99.95. With the low price and the good review Tom Gaylord gave it, I figured why not. Should be here tomorrow.

Basically a Rebrand of a Xisico B-12

When that comes in can you let me know if the gun physically says "240" or "Two Forty" on it? There was a sting of incorrect advertisements on that gun and the Two Forty was advertised as a 240 which is a different gun. I believe the big difference between the two is that the 240 has a T05 trigger and the Two Forty is just some cheap unadjustable Chinese trigger. Probably other quality differences as well.

I heard the ones that have 240 stamped have to5 triggers and the ones that have 240 spelled have junk china triggers. But I still wonder if they are both built in china

Yeah, I just read over at the AGW site that the German ones have the number 240 on the receiver and on the Chinese built ones it's spelled out. I just assumed for the price of the one I ordered it's going to be a Chinese gun and in need of some tuning. I'll be sure to let you all know which rifle it is and where it's made, my thoughts on the trigger, overall quality, and my initial shooting impressions.

Call Mike at Flying Dragon and get one of these with his 2nd screw trigger mod:
You can tune it up yourself or have him do a basic tune for you which would put you at $205.

Hatsan model 65. Has the Quattro Trigger. If you go with a Hatsan, I would recommend the QT. It can be made really nice. Mine just over one pound. Hatsan is however a crap shoot like most bargain airguns. Not made in China. Turkey. Good solid guns if you can tinker on one.

Fix the 50 you already have. Mine is the most predictable springer I own. Way more than enough for 30 yard squirrels. I've been given some crappy 50s lately to tune but still a really nice gun when done. I've seen lots of barrel droop on them lately but very few inaccurate barrels. IMO it's like not fixing your BMW to look for a Yugo. Pick your poison.

Mycapt65, my new barrel will be here today, from Chambers, for my HW50. I think my 50 was made on Monday or Friday or they accidentally put a shot gun barrel on it. I started shooting airguns in 2013 with a Ruger spring gun from wally world and then two Crosman springers. All three shot 3 times better than the 50. Worst gun l have ever owned. My HW97 and TX200 are great springers. Don
