Love Mine! Very consistant, holds zero like a champ, very accurate and fun to shoot.

Can't say on that but some of my synthetic stocks fit me and shoulder more comfortable then woods.. just most depend on how cheap the plastic feels .. you know one feels cheap but the other feels well made better plastic formula..lol . Then all the opinion don't matter in till you grab one up to your own shoulder for you personal " feel" of the gun drawing your opinion.

I don't see where I'd be scared to buy the synthetic hw just because its he .. not Gamo or crosman plastic so to say..

Very heavy for walking about . but i would also do that , my 97 is custom wood stock and big scope so heavy
Yeah I don't mind the weight. I like a heavier gun anyways 10-12 is fine for me. I might walk a mile hunting if that.
don't you have a HW55 ? good for hunting?
No I actually don't have one HW. Txs,54, nitro piston that's it. I thought about a 95 or 98 also

I'm curious why many people complain about the weight of a rifle For hunting. I spent most of my life hunting with full size rifles that were far from featherweight and I hiked many miles with them. I myself prefer a rifle that has a little bit of weight as I can shoot it more accurately in field positions.

I am the same way. Light to me is 9lbs

The only Weihrauch I carry around is my HW50. It weighs seven pounds flat with a 4X scope. My driveway is a half mile to my gate. I take it nearly every morning when I walk to open the gate. I like light hunting rifles and fishing rods. I always find my outings more enjoyable with lighter equipment. I tend to shoot lighter rifles better offhand. I know that's opposite of what most people profess.

The synthetic stock 97 is a very nice gun. Go for it if you're good with the weight. It's an excellent synthetic stock. It's not like the crap Rubbermaid stocks on cheap Rugers and Savages.

Enjoy

I have one in .177 and tuned with an ARH UK kit to 10.5 fpe. Accuracy at 50 yards is about 1" average in light wind. As others have mentioned, the synthetic stock is durable. I filled mine with packing foam to further reduce any vibration. Although it's about 10lbs it balances well and handles like a lighter carbine.
