HW/Weihrauch New to me HW80K. Pictures and a couple questions.

Thanks to the generosity of kingfisher61 for passing along some of his unmatched skills at finding these rarer pieces. I was looking for a R1AW and John offered me this very pretty HW80K in .25. It is of approximately 2009 vintage and in an early R1 stock. The action and stock are in incredible condition with very few signs of use and it shoots as smooth as it looks. My questions are, has anyone seen HW80’s in STL finish in the US? I have been shooting Weihrauchs since the 80’s and dont remember seeing one and can not find one on the internet. My second question is the front stock screws are M6 rather than the usual M5 of every R1/HW80 I have owned. The threads appear factory though the would be easy to reproduce with a quick drill and tap. Was there a production size change at some point? Thanks in advance for any answers to these questions.

I sent the following message to Weihrauch. “ I just purchased a beautiful HW80K in STL finish it’s serial number is 1739838. I have never seen a HW80K with STL finish. Was this a limited offering? Could you possibly tell me what year it was made?” Their attached answer explains why the only STL model shown in Weihrauch catalogs or offered by Krale is the HW97 STL. Apparently the STL models we see in the US are all special ordered by AOA or who ever is the current importer.

Those front stock screws don't appear to be OEM?
Weihrauch has never used hex screws as far as I know .............. looks like someone modified the gun for whatever reason;).

That's not quite true. The HW 35 came in STL-look for a couple of years here. Maybe it still does.
And be grateful for the named issue date. I had the same question about another model and the answer was: Sorry we don*t bother.
This gives further evidence that they deal with their oversea stuff with more care than here in G. Both, customers as well as products.

AOA still offers several STL models including the HW35E
