If you're legally allowed to shoot airguns on your property explain to them you are doing it safely and if they don't like that tell em to kick rocks. Check your local ordinances and go from there but your state doesn't expressly forbid it according to this:

Make a quieter backstop. Rubber mulch or old clothes in a heavy plastic bin will make it much quieter.

Living out where I do, I dont have this issue and can shoot anything I want on my property... air or powder... but I agree with the above. I suppose there would be something to be said for trying to 'keep the peace' with neighbors, but I admit it would be difficult for me not to tell them to just shut the eff up and mind their own business.
I really hate it for yall who have to put up with that nonsense or 'hide' your legal activities, but that is the world we live in now.

Keeping the peace is absolutely a factor but if you're being reasonable and they aren't, they are the ones choosing not to keep the peace.

The pellet/slug hitting my trap is louder than my rifle. I could put something in the back of the trap but it's really not that loud. Most of my neighbors could care less anyway. They're used to my various backyard activities over the last 30+ years. Plus once they learned of this airgun hobby and my dislike for squirrels I get a lot of invites to sit on back decks.

Been my experience that women can't stand seeing a man be happy, just galls them. Found it best to keep everything as, "under the radar," as possible. If it ever comes up, I just say casual plinking with a "BB" gun against a cardboard target on wood pile. WM

It may be legal but if enough people complain the city council will just pass a law outlawing the discharge of a airgun inside the city limits. The more Karen's there are the sooner it will happen. What the Karens don't realize it can also happen to something they love to do.

Referring to a Sig Heiling Proud Boy as a ‘Bernie’ would be more accurate than relating the popular concept of a ‘Karen’ to my late mother.

Edit - It is also one of my daughter’s middle names in my mother’s honour.

I have a neighbor that I don't get along with. I was shooting my airgun in my backyard to look over and see him just staring at me. He was obviously pissed off so I said, "at least I'm not mowing my lawn at 8am."
We had words.

I’ve had the sheriff come to my door because of a neighbor’s complaint. When I told and showed him what I was doing, he said thank you and left. Moral of this tale is I now have LDCs, moderators, silencers on all my Airguns.

I have the same problem my self and my guns are super quiet but I live next to an animal lover who thinks I’m gonna shoot her dog that is NEVER EVEN IN THEIR YARD.
