3-12x32 scope choices?

There are several 12X scopes worth looking at
Let's see, Airmax 4-12X40 is great. Veyron 3-12X is great. Airmax 30 Compact 3-12X is great.
The Veyron I got is fantastic, I dunno, maybe I got a good one, but I'd buy another should I need one. I like the Airmax 4-12X, it's light, clear and reliable, one of my go to scopes. The Airmax Compact is top notch, and one of my favorite scopes period. It sits on my Brocock Bantam Sniper and I have no plans to get rid of it.

Are you willing to go less power and stay 32 or go up a 40 objective?
Not really, l have gotten used to shooting 16x and 50x in field target and my old eyes don't work well with anything below 12x. I may have to go above 32mm but then l fight getting a cheek weld with my break barrels. The extra height rings for 40mm scopes makes my head float and is just not comfortable. I guess l could put a cheek riser on my guns but didn't want to go there. My field target rifles have adjustable cheek rests to allow for 50mm scopes so l don't have the issues of a plain break barrel rifle. Thanks, Don

I have a Airmax 3-9x40 , a good scope but don't want to use medium rings due to cheek weld. I'm sure the 4-12x40 is as good as the 3-9x40 but the height issue is a deal breaker for me. I will never buy another Vector scope. I had a warranty issue with one of their older scopes and was very unhappy with their reply. Maybe their warranty is better now but I'm not willing to find out. I know l sound picky but just hoping to get a good 12x scope and a cheek weld without doing the bobble head thing LoL.Thanks, Don

Is the 32mm objective more important than the 1" tube? If you can extend your budget & go with a 30mm tube, then the Optisan CP 3-12x32 is the only scope I can see getting low enough on a break barrel.

Another thought is the MTC Viper Connect 3-12x24. I believe that is a 1" tube. Short eye relief so might be difficult to mount on a break barrel.

Like I said shop uk shops and seems more to choose from there then here in USA
Thanks but l didn't see an eye relief listed on that scope. Don't scout scopes have extended eye relief like a pistol scope? Don

i have heard and i practice a floating cheek weld on springers . Your cheek just barely touches the stock . try it .

Try out the Athlon Heras 2-12x42. It's a great scope with very good glass. The quality is way up there compared to most of the scopes mentioned in this thread and makes the Nikon's glass seem dull. Also its a very versatile scope.

I prefer a soft cheek weld myself but with about 20% of my rifles its not possible without getting a cheek riser pad so I just enjoy the set up as is like you see in the photo.

The scope on top is a Nikon 3-9x40 so you can see that without the caps and sunshade the Heras is the same length.

I probably phrased my response wrong. I do use a light cheek touch, to keep my position consistent but do not use a floating head position. I have tried a floating head and should just throw rocks instead of shooting with my head floating. I would be more accurate than shooting my airguns:ROFLMAO:. Don

I have 2 Athlon Herus 4-20x50 and agree, great scopes. My issue is not the length but the height of the scope so the 42mm would be even worse for my issue. If l l use a scope above 32mm, it's just not comfortable trying to touch my cheek on the stock and see thru the scope without doing the bobble head. Guess my neck is just to short. This is just an issue with my break barrel oem stock rifles. Don

I have a short neck too. Instead of resting your cheek on the stock try pushing your face sideways against the stock just enough to feel comfortable. I don't know why I have adapted to this so easily but it really doesn't bother me especially if plinking in offhand position. It's like 2nd nature.

The HK300 in the photo has a stock designed foremost for iron sights with the option of a high scope mount so a scope can never be low enough to rest my cheek on the rifle. It's a compromise I gladly deal with to have a nice scope on the gun. The Nikon never did this fine rifle justice and for my style of shooting which could be 15 yards to 300 yards this scope is fantastic.

That is great to hear. Hope you continue to enjoy it. Don
